  1. Oh man. I feel okay downloading it because I'm getting it via iTunes and the limited edition vinyl.

It's driving me crazy that the official track name is "Sink Ships" instead of "Sinking Ships." What the fuck?

I love that they've finally managed to capture The Cardinals' live feel on a studio album. For months I've been listening to straight up bootlegs because they sound so much better. That'll be changing. "Magick" is INSANE. I can't pick a favorite track.

  2. 11. Freeway to the Canyon (new song - NOT sung by Ryan)

    19. You Don't See Me Crying (new song - also NOT sung by Ryan)

These songs are actually written/performed by lead guitarist Neal Casal. They've been setlist staples for awhile and are on his album No Wish to Reminisce which came out a year or two ago.

And yeah, the new songs are outstanding. "Cobwebs" might be one of the best things he's ever written, "Fix It" gives off a great Dead vibe, and "Magick" just fucking rocks.

I'm still insanely jealous, I have to wait another month to see them.

  3. I think I'm going some time this weekend. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Stan Sitwell was in the movie. And if I hadn't heard Danny McBride speak in the commercials, I wouldn't have recognized him without the mustache. Guy was the best part of Hot Rod (and that is saying a lot).

  4. Ryan Adams is coming to Syracuse but the tickets are $45 (after all the ticketmaster bullshit)...

On the one hand, $45 friggin dollars for Ryan Adams?! But on the other hand, he's released four albums since the last time I've seen him in concert, two of which (Cold Roses, Easy Tiger) are among his best yet.

This is a tough, tough decision.

Completely worth it. You can actually download/stream his shows from earlier this year, because it'll probably be similar to those, with the possibility of some new stuff. He's a lot more laid back than he was years ago, and it's very likely you'll see a 15 minute "Easy Plateau" jam and random stage banter about robots and Diet Coke and Mariah Carey.

  5. Hot on the heels of super-poducer Dr. Dre’s announcement that he’s issuing his own brand of headphone comes the news that the hip hop heavyweight will be endorsing a brand of Cognac.

Yes, the first alcoholic drink from the Interscope Geffen A&M Records joint venture with beverage company Drinks Americas will be Aftermath Cognac, to be released this fall.

The production, supply and European distribution of the drink will be handled by Abecassis Cognac, a cognac producer. Following that, an 80-proof flavored and unflavored sparkling vodka will hit the market.

Last month the good Doctor told USA Today that the album would be out in "November or December," and according to the press release, the beverage will be introduced at the same time as Dr. Dre's long awaited Detox album and will be part of an integrated marketing plan surrounding the album.

  6. Jason Bateman gave my favorite performance of the film, I think. Loved the chemistry between Michael Cera and Ellen Page. Some of the one-liners got a bit annoying but I adored the entire film.

Also, hello Velvet Underground and Belle & Sebastian and other members I didn't recognize from the great soundtrack.
