Well supposidly, it's susposed to be a hilarious scene (complete with Matt belting out an Aerosmith like power ballad) so why should they take the scene out? Umm, so they can get the R rating, which will make them more money. Just put it on the DVD as the "special edition with naked puppets" or whatever they'll call it. It goes beyond that... With an NC-17, many chains will refuse to carry the film and newspapers won't carry advertisements for it. I'll go see this even if it ends up as a XXX film but it'll restrict my ability to watch it freely if it's declared as such.

It's only the Dems because the Republicans got wind of it beforehand and said "Fuck it... let them make asses of themselves." Anyone who reads the transcript, watches the debate, or hears a competent person talk about the debate knows that it was NOT an Edwards win by any stretch.
-
65000 responses and the totals are running 78% Edwards, 22% Cheney.
-
I don't know about that. As I said, the Dems have set up another "Flood the polls" campaign for this one after their success with the Kerry debate. However, people will see through the BS this time.
-
Current results- Out of 35500 responses at MSNBC, Edwards is winning 75% to 25%. Color me surprised.
-
The DNC has planned another "flood the polls and e-mail boxes" campaign, so the polls will be heavy in Edwards' favor unless they put anti-flood software in effect. However, I don't think that even the most utterly partisan critics can say that Edwards won this. IMHO, it would be a stretch to say he even came close to a tie.

1876, 1884, 1888, and 1892 would be good elections to read up on... The biggest election scandal until 2000 and Grover Cleveland becoming the only non-consecutive terms president in US history.

Excerpts from the case summary: "There is patently no legitimate overriding purpose independent of invidious racial discrimination which justifies this classification. The fact that Virginia prohibits only interracial marriages involving white persons demonstrates that the racial classifications must stand on their own justification, as measures designed to maintain White Supremacy. We have consistently denied the constitutionality of measures which restrict the rights of citizens on account of race. There can be no doubt that restricting the freedom to marry solely because of racial classifications violates the central meaning of the Equal Protection Clause. II. These statutes also deprive the Lovings of liberty without due process of law in violation of the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. The freedom to marry has long been recognized as one of the vital personal rights essential to the orderly pursuit of happiness by free men. Marriage is one of the "basic civil rights of man," fundamental to our very existence and survival. To deny this fundamental freedom on so unsupportable a basis as the racial classifications embodied in these statutes, classifications so directly subversive of the principle of equality at the heart of the Fourteenth Amendment, is surely to deprive all the State's citizens of liberty without due process of law. The Fourteenth Amendment requires that the freedom of choice to marry not be restricted by invidious racial discriminations. Under our Constitution, the freedom to marry, or not marry, a person of another race resides with the individual and cannot be infringed by the State. "

Found the case: Loving v. Virginia, 388 U.S. 1, 12 (1967) I'll look it up and link a summary. http://www.law.umkc.edu/faculty/projects/f...law/loving.html
-
Edwards just screwed up... IIRC, in the 1960s the Supreme Court DID rule that states have to accept interracial marriages from another state.
-
Don't go into medical costs, Edwards... That's a subject you're VERY vulnerable on.
-
"We have a plan". Really, Edwards? First I heard of it... [/sarc]

The economy was hurting before but 9/11 made it much worse. That happens when you lose 1/3 of the office space in your biggest metropolis in one day, along with thousands of the best and brightest.
-
"Litigation costs" is going to get Edwards' attention. The question is what he does with it.
-
Cheney going to town on Edwards' record...
-
Edwards is going to get his head ripped off and his soul removed by Cheney...
-
This is a lot like OZ... Cheney is Schillinger and Edwards is Beecher (circa episode 1).

"Senator, I know Dan Quayle... I worked with Dan Quayle... Dan Quayle is a friend of mine... and you aren't even a Dan Quayle!"
-
"Thing... Motherfucker looks just like The Thing" - Reservoir Dogs
-
Edwards is trying the Bush strategy and failing miserably IMHO...
-
This is gonna be good... Edwards just pulled the "Their coalition sucks!" card. Cheney's response is going to be priceless.
