Unfortunately for you, SoS only covers the quality of the picks your opponent made against *you*, not their win total for the year. You're still either #1 or #2, but it'll be determined by what UTBroward's been doing this year, pick-wise, compared to you.

The BCS nightmare scenario at this point would probably be: USC and Cal winning out until their match-up in November. The winner then loses the next week (Cal at Washington, USC at Arizona State) LSU winning out until the SEC Championship Game, then losing to a Kentucky or South Carolina team whose one loss is to LSU earlier in the season. (Florida would have a losses to LSU and Auburn under this scenario) South Florida winning at least 5 more games (including a win over undefeated Cincinnati), then losing late in the year to Louisville or a horrible Pitt team. Ohio State winning 11 games, then losing the Michigan game. Boston College winning 12 games, then losing the ACC CG to a team with 2 or more losses (Miami or V-Tech perhaps). That would eliminate just about all of the currently-favored teams, leaving chaos in the human polls used to determine the championship game. (The human polls are a huge percentage of the BCS formula (66%?), with the computer formulas worth a smaller percentage.) It would also be interesting to see how many computers would agree on the Top 5 after that kind of carnage.

Another week or two, when the last computer polls are published. Four of the computers, plus the Coach's Poll and the Harris Poll, are already public.

Question of the week- Who should be Number 1: An LSU team that was up by 1 at the half, then controlled the rest of the game and won by 24? Or a USC team that was neck-and-neck with Washington the whole game and won ugly?
-
10 points with 3 minutes to play is not "putting it away". USC pretty much finished it off, though, after Washington's QB fucked up and passed while he was across the line of scrimmage.
-
Maybe they traded Meyer to Illinois today for Zook, thinking they wouldn't need him for Auburn.
-
Yep... although last year's loss had some questionable calls that weren't overturned on replay. (LSU had the same problem with Auburn's replay official last year as well.)
-
I still think you're misunderstanding the hypothetical situation... If USC loses and Florida wins, LSU is #1 and Florida is #2, or vice versa. That takes the shine off a Cal-USC game, barring upsets coming along before the USC-Cal game that would let USC back up to #2.
-
Not just yet. USC/Cal could be big too if USC and Cal goes undefeated til then. The difference is that LSU-Florida is a week from today. USC-Cal is closer to the end of the year.
-
Speaking of USC, ESPN just broke into Ohio State vs. Minnesota to say that Washington has nefariously intercepted JD Booty's pass and is streaking towards the end zone, thus threatening Numero Uno. If this comes off, LSU-Florida suddenly becomes the hottest non-bowl ticket since Michigan vs. Ohio State last year.
-
I think I just made my way back into the Top 5 today, as today's upsets in college football have translated into some big upsets here in the Bored CS as well.
-
What's the Top 10 going to look like this week? LSU and Cal are guaranteed to be there. Wiscy and Boston College are probable because they won. USC, Florida, and Ohio State are likely, pending tonight's games. Outside of that, the following teams are possible: South Carolina, Georgia, South Florida, Kentucky, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma (around 9-10), WVU (around 9-10)), etc. could all end up there.

CU hits the FG for the win. #3 and #5 have already fallen this weekend.
-
CU just returned a punt to the 50 with 3 minutes left. The way things are going, CU is going to pull a big upset.
-
That's embarrassing on a lot of levels for Penn State to get their first win over Michigan in about 10 years due to a forfeit.
-
5-yard facemask by OU. This is just a horrid breakdown by OU on SO many levels here in the fourth. CU TD, will tie at 24 with a PAT.
-
... This is a goddamn Keystone Kops quarter. CU punted it away but OU muffed the return and rolled it straight to a CU guy deep in OU territory.
-
CU misses a chip-shot FG, but gets the ball back on an INT on the next play. CU has it deep in OU territory with about 6 minutes to go. EDIT- INT under review, but it was tipped before the INT and it looked like CU's guy had it first, so it will likely remain an INT. EDIT 2- INT stands, CU ball with 6:28.
-
Colorado is only back 24-17 on OU with 11 minutes left in the fourth. They've also got the ball at about midfield. EDIT- Down to the OU 27 with 9 minutes left. You may want to turn on FSN and check this one out.

Michigan State and Wisconsin are tied early, but State is the one moving the ball and has it deep in Badger territory. TD Mich State, 13-7 pending PAT with 2:23 left in the first. This is continuing the ESPN-speak for "WTF is going on in the Big Ten?!?", as Wiscy is down, Penn State has lost 2 in the league, and Michigan got a scare from a bad Northwestern team because they still haven't figured out the spread.
-
That was quick... WTF drove the field for a TD after the half, stripped the Tulane RB for a fumble recovery, then put another TD on the board. WTF 21, Tulane 9.
-
For the rest of the game, I think they should be referred to as "WTF?" instead.
-
"Favourable" being an understatement... Depending on where USF lands after this win in the Harris and Coach's poll, they'll probably have to hope that USC, Wisconsin, Ohio State, LSU, Florida, Oklahoma and Boston College all lose one, or two in the cases of favorites with perceived tough schedules like USC, Florida, and LSU, to pull it off.
-
21-6 USF, but WVU is threatening after Noel Devine got them deep into Bulls territory.
-
21-3 USF at the start of the 3rd. WVU's defense is being owned by USF QB Matt Grothe, who has been able to scramble at will for the first on several third downs now.
