I'll post on it if I can remember to... The Auburn section is usually pretty full, partially because LSU-Auburn always gets ugly in some way or another, at least since 2001. This year? Probably not so much. They're about an Ole Miss loss away from taking up residence in the West cellar, where I don't think they've ever been before.

If Rutgers' scheduling doesn't improve over the next 3-5 years, given their current level of success, that should be more than enough to DQ them from any discussion of the BCS Title Game and any At-Large Bid consideration. (If they win the Big East, they get the automatic bid and it isn't an issue.) The only reason I'd give them a pass until then is that their program was considered one of the biggest jokes in a BCS conference up until last year... They were seen as on par with Baylor, Vanderbilt, Duke, Stanford, etc. Now that they're seen as a big boy, they've only got so much time to start scheduling like one before they get sent to the corner wearing a dunce cap. BTW, their bandwagon fans don't seem to realize (or care) that the team was losing to I-AA teams a few years ago if they chant shit like "F*ck you Navy!" at the visiting teams. At least come up with something specific to your team, like LSU fans chanting "Tiger bait!" at the opposing team, instead of being vulgar assholes. That's close to being on par with Ohio State and West Virginia fans, who riot and/or burn couches after games.

No, you don't play me this year, Secret Agent. Realignment pushed you into the Big 8 (Big Ten / Big 12 teams) conference this year and you don't play me OOC. (I've already played Penn State, Georgia Tech, and Boise State OOC and I still have to play Syracuse (Canadian Chris) and Arizona)
-
I understand, but scheduling for *most* teams is set in stone pretty far in advance, save 1-2 games that change at the last minute. Even if Rutgers dropped Norfolk State from the schedule and tried to pick up a different team this week, who would have been available even if they had 8-10 months to fill the spot?
-
No error there... Just like it's not a misprint that Duke actually beat Northwestern to snap a 20-someodd game losing streak.
-
Conferences changed this year, though we may play OOC. The Big 12 teams are now in a separate conference from the SEC teams.

Some of that is due to the expectations of the program and some of that is financial. TCU, in the mid-to-late 1990s, jettisoned games against top teams from their schedule in preparation for a rebuilding. By the time LaDamian Tomlinson was their stud RB, they were winning games left and right but had a very soft schedule that left them open to cracks about them ducking big teams. Rutgers was in the same boat until the last two years, when they went from a team on the verge of a bowl to a team fighting for a conference title. The financial part is along the lines of teams not wanting to play in Rutgers' stadium because the attendance isn't what they could get elsewhere, meaning the payouts are smaller. Kansas State gets the same problems because they're out in the middle of bumfuck and have a small stadium.

If only I'd gone with Vandy over Ole Miss or Ohio State over Washington, would we have avoided CONTROVERSY~!? BTW, Secret Agent, you only need to be in the Top 2 to get into the Bored Bowl, though the Conference Game tends to fuck one or more teams over every year. Just ask Canadian Chris about it.

Teams may put patsies on the schedule, but they attempt to secure at least one decent (read: mid-level or better BCS team) on the schedule each year. Even when teams do schedule patsies, they tend to go for the higher teams in the MAC, Sun Belt, and other minor conferences instead of the true bottom-dwellers like Florida-International, Florida-Atlantic, Utah State, etc. (There are always exceptions, which tend to be geographic in nature. Ex- LSU, as a rule, plays 1 in-state public school per year, such as UL-Monroe, UL-Lafayette, or LA Tech. They've also put Tulane on the schedule for the foreseeable future, but that's to resume an old feud between the schools that goes back to both universities' first games.)
-
I won't argue that one. Arkansas did the same thing last year... they lost to USC, ripped off 10 straight victories, then got summarily ass-fucked by LSU, Florida, and Wisconsin in consecutive games.
-
Illinois is awful. They beat Western Illinois and Syracuse. Whoop-de-doo. How bad the Big Ten is could get them to a bowl, though. Which would be like Michigan State during the Saban years (roughly 1995-1999)... They'd fill up on cream-puffs in the non-conference schedule and the early conference schedule, then get ass-surfed by teams like Michigan and their bowl opponent.

Get in line with Nutt to file your complaint.

Depends on how things fall out. The winner of LSU-Florida should be in the game, provided they don't lose in the likely rematch in the SEC Title Game. (The only other teams threatening for a spot in the title game are South Carolina and Alabama.) Oklahoma looks ready to run the table, as Texas is VERY overrated this year and the rest of the Big 12 looks disappointing. USC is talented enough, but running the table in the Pac 10 may not happen this year. (Cal and Oregon look good, as does Arizona State.)

You're playing an Iowa team next week that's coming off a loss to Iowa State of about 15-13. Something tells me that Iowa's offense (16 vs. Northern Illinois, 35 vs. Syracuse, 13 vs. Iowa State) won't be in the same league as theirs. The majority of the ragging of Wiscy, though, comes from the fact that teams like UNLV and Citadel should be *EASY* wins that should be socked away by halftime, not a 20-13 win and a game tied 21-all at the half. Wiscy put it together by the end of the Citadel game, but I rag on them for being tied 21-all with Citadel at the half the same way I rag on Ohio State for being up 3-2 on Akron at the half.

On LSU-MTSU tonight, from the FoxSports board: "Middle Tennessee State hangs 42 points and 554 total yards on Louisville. In Louisville. They had 89 total yards against the Tigers. Anyone out there still not convinced?"
-
Illinois won't go deep. They've got The Zooker in charge and, while he can direct talent to join the team, he's never been very good at directing them on the field. (Zook's teams are perennial underachievers given the talent he has available. They may go bowling this year because of a weakened Big Ten, but they'll lose to whoever they face.)
-
You do realize that Wisconsin took control in the second half after the new cornerback (the guy taking over for our best cb after he was hurt on the first play) right? And PJ Hill scored 5 touchdowns? Would 7 or 8 not been underwhelming? Going in at the half 21-21 with a I-AA team is embarrassing and The Citadel isn't exactly App State. (They were in the "Others Receiving Votes" category in the last poll, putting them roughly at 30th.) Wisconsin DID get it together by the end and won solidly, but they're NOT a Top 10 team right now despite being ranked as such. Neither is Texas, BTW, who only beat Central Florida by 3.
-
And you left out Iowa losing to Iowa State. STANFORD~ is destroying 2006 New Mexico Bowl Champion San Jose State 37-0. Woo hoo no 0-12 season! I knew I'd forgotten something. BTW, Duke beating Northwestern and Stanford beating San Jose State means there's a chance at a 0-12 season for Notre Dame. Have fun, Cholly!

Wait until LSU-Florida before making those comments. That's about 3 weeks from now. I'm lookin forward to that game. Me, too. I'll be there, as always, in the Upper South End Zone.

BwaHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Bad day in general for the Big Ten. Minnesota loses to one of the worst I-A teams in Fla-Atlantic, Northwestern loses to THE worst I-A team of the past several years in Duke, Ohio State and Wisconsin look underwhelming against Washington and The Citadel, respectively, etc. About the only things that went right were Penn State winning big, Michigan shellacking Notre Dame, and Purdue thumping Central Michigan.
-
NM, Vitamin X Nebraska scored, so at 59 total points (42+17), I win.
-
Vitamin X, If USC and Nebraska don't score anymore points, you may win. I think we're at the limit of where you win on the tiebreaker.
-
Lou Holtz just needs a shell and he can be a tortoise... he's always been slow to catch onto things, but this is bad even for him. "10 wins this year" my ass, Lou.
-
I don't follow Mississippi State that closely but will that win save Croom's job for next season? Also, I'm glad that game finished because the local ABC affiliate in Bowling Green was airing that game and not taking us to Michigan-Notre Dame. That game alone? No. However, if they use this to right the ship and get 5-7 wins, it should do it. (They've got 2 wins right now and still play Ole Miss, Arkansas, I-AA Gardner-Webb, and UAB, so 6 wins COULD be realistic.) Having them beating Tennessee, West Virginia, South Carolina, Alabama, or Kentucky is a stretch with their limited offense right now. (They've got a good running game but suck at passing.)
