Between that, his hands, and his leaping ability, that's why I had him there instead of at WR. He'd make Deion Sanders and Charles Woodson look like high-school players.

This should officially kill those "Seattle will defend their NFC title!" claims. This brings down the likely NFC Champions to Chicago, New Orleans, Dallas, New York, and whoever the last wildcard is (Philly? Atlanta?). Of those, Chicago and New Orleans are the de-facto leaders because New Orleans showed how to shut down Dallas, New York is inconsistent, and the last wildcard will have to play 3 away games to win it all. (Not that it can't be done, but neither Philly nor Atlanta are last year's Steelers)

I'd consider that a forward lateral... He should be able to teleport backwards OR teleport in front of the ball on a pass, but not take the ball in the backfield and teleport into the end zone. As far as Superman goes, it depends which thing you want to use as canon. For instance, in the original Superman movie he was a punter and not a QB. The two things I'd say to discourage using him as QB are that: 1. He isn't known for having a "touch", which means he's likely to break his receivers' hands. 2. The first lineman to think of wearing Kryptonite on the playing field will have him hitting the turf like Jim Everett. Unless it's Red Kryptonite, at which point he becomes Aaron Brooks and either drops the ball or throws it at a lineman.

Tank appears to be facing charges over the fact that he had 6 guns in his residence but didn't have a gun owner's ID issued by the Illinois state police. Normally, that would be a ticky-tacky kind of thing but he's got gun charges in his past, including a previous gun charge in which he was sentenced to 18 months of probation starting in November 2005. Given the situation, I'd say there's a good chance that the court determines he's violated his probation, which would make him unavailable for games in the near-future.

I originally had him at WR, but he doesn't have the raw speed of Quicksilver, agility of Nightcrawler, or the ability to take a hit like Cannonball. Unless the superhero team plays a spread offense, which is unlikely with Juggernaut at RB, there's little point in making him a #4 WR. That's why I put him at DB, where he'll likely pick off a lot of passes.

Dude, Blob should be either an OT or the center. He may be a good run-stuffer at DT, but I don't see him giving up any sacks as an OT. Tackles: Blob, Colossus Guards: Wolverine QB: Bullseye or Taskmaster (In Taskmaster's bio, he became an all-star QB via his photograpic reflexes after watching one pro game. His problem is that he's dependant on seeing something done before he can replicate it and, even then, has comprehension problems of some things associated with it. As a result, he usually can't improvise for shit but doesn't get caught by the same trick twice.) RB: Juggernaut FB: Puck of Alpha Flight (Fast, squat powerhouse. Also a potential noseguard in a "50" defense) WR: Quicksilver, Cannonball, Nightcrawler TE: Hank Pym (Giant Man, Ant Man, Goliath, Yellowjacket, godknowswhatelse. Size-changing on the fly when he goes from blocker to receiver makes him a natural choice.) LB: Sasquatch (He's an All-Pro LB according to his bio) DB: Deadpool (Due to his healing factor), Gambit (fast and has sticky fingers), Spider-Man (see Gambit) Anyone else?

Considering the injury situation with Da Bears' defense (Tommy Harris on IR, etc.), what would a potential indefinite suspension of Tank do to their post-season plans?
-
Was he the really old Chiefs guy or the really old Oilers guy? I always confuse them. EDIT: Okay, Chiefs. The Oilers guy is Bud Adams. If he keeled over and died, there'd probably be partying in the streets of Houston given how the fans hated him for the move to Tennessee.

Now, now. The world didn't end when the Red Sox and the White Sox won their first World Series in 80 years. Or when Wake Forest made it to a BCS bowl...

As far as Saints drafting goes, they're pretty much set on offense in the immediate future, outside of getting a TE to replace oft-injured Ernie Conwell. The main thing would be to get depth on the defensive side, especially at DT, LB, and CB. I agree with your assessment about their SB chances over the course of a decade, as GM Mickey Loomis and the scouts know how to find talent in late rounds that gets overlooked by others. (From this draft alone, you have Marques Colston, starting G Jahri Evans, and key backup T Zach Strief, of which Strief and Colston were 7th Round picks and Evans a 4th rounder.) He's got the potential to replicate former Saints GM Jim Finks, who drafted three of the four "Dome Patrol" members (LBs Ricky Jackson, Vaughan Dunbar, and Pat Swilling), FB Craig "Ironhead" Heyward, RB Dalton Hilliard, and many other stars from the first big Saints run (1987 through 1992).

BTW, here's what the Football Outsiders guys think via their use of the DVOA system. http://www.mharrisdev.com/playoff_odds/ 65% chance of Chicago for the NFC, 14% chance of New Orleans 41% chance of San Diego for the AFC, 32% chance of Baltimore They say a 35% chance of Chicago winning, 22% chance of San Diego, 17% chance of Baltimore, and 5.6% chance of New Orleans.

I'm trying not to bandwagon the CNNSI people on this, so I'll give explanations. New Orleans is the *current* smart bet in the NFC because Chicago's offense is inconsistent and they've shown they can minimize their weaknesses on defense. Chicago's limited by Grossman. Unless the defense and Hester save his ass, they could get upset in the 2nd round. Dallas couldn't beat New Orleans at home, so why could they beat them at the Superdome? Seattle just lost to the Cardinals... their defense isn't gelling right now. The Giants have issues with blowing clutch games. They'll be lucky to make the playoffs. The Eagles can only go so far on Garcia's arm and with a wounded defense. Etc. Etc. Etc. It's more New Orleans by a matter of elimination than them being head and shoulders above everyone else. If the Saints have to go to the Windy City to play in January, the Bears would have the advantage but it would still be a tough game. San Diego is the top AFC contender right now, also by process of elimination. They have a good offense and a defense that is passable. They also haven't gotten embarassed lately, despite coming close against the Raiders and others. The Ravens have a great defense but up-and-down offense. They're not as bad off as Chicago because McNair has a lot of playoff experience, but they got shut down against the Bengals recently. The Colts are DOA, as everyone and their grandmothers will bring the ground game on them. The Pats are limited by Maroney's availability on the ground due to injuries as well as a poor receiving corps. The Dolphins showed how to shut them down completely, which other teams will take notes on in the upcoming weeks. The best-playing team right now is the Titans, but going to the playoffs would require them winning out, the Bengals and Jags dropping a few games, and that their spot comes down to a tiebreaker with the Jags OR the Pats if the Pats lose the AFC East title to the Jets. (They'd have the AFC South record over the Jags. They'd have a head-to-head tiebreaker with the Pats if they won out. They'd lose all other tiebreakers, though, as they've lost to the Jets and have a horrible AFC record.)
-
AFC champ- Chargers, although the Ravens could upset them again. NFC champ- Could be anyone, as all the NFC contenders have issues. New Orleans appears the most likely right now, but there's still 3 more regular season games and 3 rounds of playoffs to go. (Besides, I don't want to get into the Biggest Homer thread over this)

Don't hate on The Saints Are Coming- that's my pregame music. But if we make the playoffs, I think the media blowjobs will be Tony Romo times 10. "If"? It's pretty much "When" at this point. The current tiebreakers say that the Saints win the NFC South if they either win 1 more OR Atlanta loses and Carolina gets either a loss or tie. Failing that, they can get in at 9-7 with the right circumstances because they swept Atlanta, beat Green Bay, Philly, and Dallas, and would have an 8-4 NFC record. The only teams they'd lose tiebreakers to would be the Giants (implied loss in Week 16) and Carolina (implied season sweep), with a possibility of the Vikings (depends on Strength Of Schedule and Strength Of Victory). I know my fellow Saints fans don't like to look too far ahead after the dreaded "How will they blow it this year?" performances from 2001 to 2004, but we're pretty much in the playoffs at this point and, even if we only go 1-2, we'll likely get a first-round bye. We have the tiebreaker over Dallas via head-to-head win and the one over Seattle via NFC record, so it's a matter of not letting them get a game ahead of us. Considering that the Cowboys have to play Atlanta and Philly while the Seahawks have to play the Chargers and 49ers (who beat them earlier this year), a single win over Washington will likely get us a first-round bye and a win over Carolina or the Giants will guarantee it.

And LT has a better QB rating than Michael Vick, but that doesn't mean I'd want to put LT under center for the whole game. Reggie's been pretty much used as a slot-back instead of a true tailback. He's mainly there to swing around and catch a Brees pass in case of a busted play and then run with it. With Deuce playing the Bettis role to ground and pound, the smaller and faster Bush gets to play a combo WR/RB role by getting sweeps and passes.
-
I think it's only happening because of the mentor-student relationship... And the fact that these two teams may meet again in about a month and they don't want to outright antagonize each other before then.
-
I've got one of those in my office that I started at the end of last year... After going to the shitty Saints-Dolphins game at Tiger Stadium, I figured I'd need it this year.
-
... Deuce just trotted for about 40 yards. Hell, he kept looking back to say "Shouldn't I be getting tackled about now?"
-
Saints still gettin' jiggy with it, as Will Smith and Brian Young sack Romo.
-
Riiiiight. You think the Cardinals would be able to stop Bush because he and Leinart were in the same backfield at USC?
-
Flag Probably a block in the back on the Cowboys.
-
Well the Cowboys always had a weak secondary that is afraid to tackle. Hollis Thomas = D-Line Outside of that one play to Jones, it's been quiet on the ground tonight.
-
INT by Jason Craft in the end-zone. Saints get the ball on the 20.
-
What I'm finding amazing is that the Saints are doing all of this on defense without Hollis Thomas, who is suspended until the post-season.
