If Pinkston's still on PUP or IR, he won't get cut. If he's an active player by the time the roster cuts are announced, though, I think he's screwed. As far as the Saints go, this was a good deal. They needed help badly in their LB corps, Stallworth was in his contract year, wasn't exactly distancing himself from Devery Henderson for the #2 slot, and this opens up an additional spot for the bevy of young receivers like Mike Haas who were fighting hard to make it to the final roster. I just hope that Devery can make the most of this, as I'd been predicting him to be a potential breakout receiver ever since the Saints drafted him out of LSU.

Indiana has been a perennial bottom-dwellar in the Big Ten as far back as I can remember. Same deal with Baylor in the Big 12. -

I think he means that Matt and Trey have a notorious sense of humor, such as showing up for an awards show wearing a copy of J-Lo's pink dress and getting into PR wars with Scientology. I think the difference between them and Cruise is a matter of overhead... South Park is low-cost yet profitable, one of the few reasons Comedy Central is thriving. Cruise, OTOH, gets HUGE deals to make movies, such as $20 million and a chunk of the gross, which puts the studio at a severe disadvantage when it comes to making their money back. Cruise going batshit crazy while getting $20 million and a gross off of MI:3 put Paramount's bottom line in danger and they didn't like it much.

Maybe Nicholls State is using the Air Force playbook and that's why it's doing it. Anyone have that kind of thing when they do a create-a-school?

My Congressman, Richard Baker, is #23 for the Republican House caucus and #31 for all House members. (He's #3 in his House class (1986) behind Denny Hastert (R-IL) and Nancy Pelosi (D-CA)) My senators, Mary Landrieu and David Vitter, are #60 and #78 in the Senate, respectively. (Vitter is #3 in his Senate class, behind Barack Obama (D-IL) and Tom Coburn (R-OK). Landrieu is #9 in her class (1996), but the #2 Dem in that class behind Dick Durbin(D-IL).)

The "Trent Boyette Texas Chili Bowl"? That's a South Park in-joke, in which a bully named Trent gives a kid a Texas Chili Bowl, which is described as involving "A cell phone, tabasco sauce, and the anus." Sounds appropriate for a 9th bowl game.

That's a slight improvement from last year, when there was no McNair and it was "Boller = Sack waiting to happen"...

Of the three, Wii looks to have the best value for what *appears* to be available by the end of the year. If 360 gets a few more good exclusive games to go with Dead Rising, I'll seriously consider it. As far as PS3 goes, it better have some VERY good titles for me to pick it up anytime soon. GTA 4 and Metal Gear Solid 4 appear to be exclusives, but when will they arrive?

Anyone else have the urge to refer to him as "QB Dirty Sanchez"? -
Can we put together a Paypal account and take collections for a tattoo reading "Dumbass" to be put across his forehead?

I guess that means I'm SOL if I want to get my Vanderbilt fix... To those who are unfamiliar with the SEC's TV contracts, they are in three tiers. The first tier is CBS, who gets the rights to a Saturday morning or afternoon game each week. They always pick up big games like Florida-Tennessee but the rest are hit-and-miss at times. (IIRC, LSU-Miss St. has been one despite Miss St. being one of the worst teams in the league.) The second tier is ESPN, who gets a Saturday night game. Many of LSU's games end up here because of the school's tradition to play all home games at night, barring contractual obligations. The third tier is JP, who gets last shot at each week's games. Their contract is also written so that they're obligated to show each of the 12 teams at least once during the season. As such, they end up getting a lot of the Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and Mississippi State games because it's about the only way CBS and ESPN will pass on big teams like Florida, Georgia, LSU, Auburn, etc. -
The Saints have talent at the skill positions, with Bush and Deuce at RB, Drew Brees at QB, and Joe Horn, Donte Stallworth, and Devery Henderson at WR, as well as Will Smith and Charles Grant at DE and Mike McKenzie at DB. Their problem is that they have an O-line being held together by spit and bailing wire, LBs lucky to be backups anywhere else in the league, and questions about their DTs. If the O-Line pulls it together and keeps Drew Brees off of his back, they'll certainly rack up some points. Their problem will be stopping the other teams from putting up a lot, as their run defense is still suspect due to the mediocre DTs and severely underwhelming LBs. They could win the South, but they could just as easily finish 5-11 or worse if the crappy O-Line gets one of their big producers hurt early.

I had 3 but I'm not sure of which games all of them came in. 1 was definitely against Kentucky. 1 was probably against Mississippi State. The last one is iffy... I think it may have been against Ole Miss or Alabama. (It was late in the season, after the finalists had been named for the KR award.) I would have had another, but there was a penalty flag on the play. (Clipping, IIRC)

That's who I did it with, mainly because the guy has a natural 99 in speed, blockers who are OK, and some piss-poor teams like Kentucky on the schedule who can't tackle. Too bad LSU won't have him this year, as he's having to give up college football and get sponsorships in order to compete on the national level at track. (Motherfucker has like the #2 time in the 200m Dash in the world)

I'm on whatever the "default" level is which, IIRC, is Varsity. I like to make sure I have a feel for some strategies and potential drawbacks before I go up to higher levels.

There's something appropriate about a guy getting paid $18,000 a week for 5 hours of work possibly transferring to a school with "Commerce" in its title. -
Finished up my first season of Campus Legend. My team, LSU, walked over everyone for a 14-0 record, capped off by a rout of Penn State in the Fiesta Bowl for the title. My player, LSU QB Ron Mexico, won the Heisman Trophy and two other trophies (Maxwell (QB)and offensive player?) as well as being named to the All-American and Freshman All-American lists, the Academic All-American list, and the Dean's List. (He had a 4.0 average in US History thanks to a regiment of 2 days tutoring, 1 day of studying, and 2 days of drills each week.) Mexico led the NCAA in TDs and yards thrown, throwing roughly 4700 yards and breaking Andre Ware's record for TDs thrown in a single season. There were questions about a possible BCS controversy in the title-game selection going into the last weeks of the season. While LSU had sealed up the #1 spot easily, USC, Penn State, and Virginia Tech were all undefeated going into the final weeks of the season, with USC and Penn State splitting the polls for the #2 position. Things got cleared up though, as USC lost two to end the year and Virginia Tech lost the ACC Championship to NC State, while Penn State won out. LSU's players dominated the awards scene, winning virtually every award except for RB, TE, K, P, and LB. In addition to Mexico winning the Heisman, WR Dwayne Bowe and LE Chase Pittman of LSU were the top runners-up, as Bowe had roughly 2000 yards of receiving and a bunch of TDs, while Pittman set the NCAA record for sacks in a season. (The TE and K awards were within reach of my players, as they both ended up around #5 on the list of semifinalists.) The awards I walked away with were for, IIRC, QB, WR, O-Line, Center, D-Line, Coach, and Returner. The question going into year 2 is mainly whether my O-Line can reload, as I definitely lost my RT at the least and probably both my LG and RG as well. Most other positions that were senior-heavy (LE and RE, WR, CB) were fairly loaded with talent, so replacing them won't be as much of a problem. My goal overall will be to pump up Mexico's stats for 4 seasons of Campus Legend then port him over to Madden in a month or two, as he's a 99 now as a QB but could stand to have certain categories tweaked. (His Throw Accuracy is 99 and his Awareness and Throw Power are both in the 90 range, but his Injury, Agility, Break Tackle, and other categories could use some improvement to facilitate a better option game as well as keep the inevitable sacks from beating him into submission.)

College Football Preseason Top 25
teke184 replied to TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe's topic in Sports
LSU is getting less benefit of the doubt than the other schools because they're replacing most of the O-Line and D-Line. They've still got Chase Pittman at DE and 1-2 returning starters on the O-Line, but their depth is all at skill positions like QB, RB, and WR rather than the lines. -
Ugh... The Saints had probably 25-50% of the teams in the league asking about Bennett and they trade him for a future pick? I know it's pretty much a free pick by trading a FA signee who you've never put on the field before, but I'd have preferred to get a more immediate need filled than a likely 4th round pick next year. (The Rams were offering a 4th rounder, but the Saints wanted to trade him outside the NFC. There is no confirmation on what pick the Chiefs traded for him.)
