You have to love those creative names... Wire Sponge, Wheel Gator. It's like the creators were throwing darts at a wall full of random words.

Not a question as much as an observation... Watching the 1991 Rumble match today, I don't think Rick Martel was legally eliminated. He's "eliminated" when he's knocked off the top rope by Bulldog. However, he first went through the ropes to the apron, and then climbed to the top, where he was knocked out. It would seem to me that to be legally back in the ring would be for both feet to touch the apron inside, which they weren't. Don't know if it's ever been noticed before... Yeah, it was a boring day.

Now that's a show that I'll set the VCR to tape. I really am curious to see what the reason is for Angle to switch shows. And what happened to Taker... has he even been on TV since Armageddon?
-
Don't know if it's been mentioned in the thread yet, but... I didn't think it was that bad of a show tonight. Yeah, the whole idea of the main event being torrid sex is really stupid, but it was just laughably bad, especially when Flair came out.

Last night at NYR, Shelton's mama is looking for food for him in the locker room, when suddenly the room lights red and Viscera's music hits... IT'S VISCERA. How many other wrestlers get full entrances for locker room appearances? In the same angle later in the show, Shelton is in the ring with his mama, all ready for a match. First, Shelton just wants Big Vis to apologize, but when mama challenges him to a match, Shelton is surprised and wants no part of the behemoth. I'm sure he was saying in his head, "At least I'm in my tights."

Everything up until the EC sucked, although the Women's Title match was decent. Dare I say it... this EC was actually one of the better ones. I'd easily rank it above the first one at SSeries 02 and SSlam 03's. As much as I hate Carlito... his somersault to the outside was just awesome. And he actually pinned HBK after his finisher. The crowd was just dying to see Edge win as soon as he came out after Vince. I'm hardly an Edge fan, but that ending was just awesome.

I'm going against my better judgment and ordering since I've got nothing better to do tonight.

Kane must be stronger than Henry. I know for sure that he broke off the HIAC door in his debut, but it was either him or SNITSKY that broke the same cage door off in their cage match on the Raw after last year's Rumble.

Wrestlemania 22...possibly one of the worse Wrestlemania's ever???
Aero replied to Lt. Al Giardello's topic in The WWE Folder
Most think he isn't stale? And while others are focused on grammar, it's feud.. not fued. I'll agree that the projected WM line-up so far doesn't look that interesting, but like the others are saying, it's only projected. Last year was supposed to have HHH-Orton, Taker & Kane vs. Heidenreich & Snitsky, and Edge-HBK... look how that turned out. -
Just thinking about it earlier, if and when Cena does turn heel, if they keep the rap gimmick, he would most definitely have to get back some of his original edge... but that's what got him fans in the first place, so would it even work out? The raps he does right now don't seem very heelish. Edit: Wow, Curry actually beat me to it.

I just got back from Raw, and it actually looked like a legit sell-out. With seven people, we ended up getting the cheap seats in the upper level. Since no creative signs would've been able to be seen all the way up there, we settled for a "Woooo!" chain sign, and added anti-Cena stuff to the back for the hell of it. Obviously, as it most likely came out on TV, the first 3/4 of Raw sucked. It was all about the main event. I couldn't believe how badly the crowd hated Cena tonight. I did tape it, so I'll watch it in a little bit. Besides a few rare adults, Cena's only fans were the girls and little kids. My whole group was hating on Cena the entire match. Obviously, we were thrilled when Angle won. After the show, more than half of the crowd was leaving. While the lobby was packed, we heard Vince's music, so a lot of people ran back. We only went back when we heard HHH's music. I didn't get to hear everything Vince said, but it ended up being a 3-way between Cena, Angle, and HHH, which Cena eventually won in less than 5 mins. About half an hour later, we stopped off at a rest stop off the turnpike, which was sort of crowded. Me and my brother were in the Burger King line, which has one of those systems where you just grab the burgers off of the heat chutes and go further down to pay. As we're waiting, BALLS MAHONEY walks up, waits about 10 seconds before saying "Fuck it", and he cuts everyone, grabs two Whoppers, and pays. As I was paying within the next few minutes, I see him inhale his two Whoppers at the counter with napkins and ketchup in about a minute. At that point, some lady recognized him and was talking to him with her maybe 10 year old kid. He seemed really nice, although he was obviously trying to rush out of there based on how he ate. He shook their hands and then asks the kid about his shirt: "You a Cena fan?" The kid says yeah, so Balls just makes the thumbs down and leaves.

'History of the WWF' with Kid Rock's 'Lonely Road of Faith' was definitely my favorite, followed by Angle's 'Clocks' video and the WWF Desire set to 'My Sacrafice'.

Cena is only a week or so away from passing JBL's title reign in length, BTW, as well as Batista with the World Heavyweight Title. I just realized that this second. Like you said, it'd be stupid to take the title off of either Cena or Batista at this point since it's been so long. Batista has to be facing Taker, Orton, or Mysterio at this point since there's no one else, and I wouldn't mind seeing any of those matches. Personally, I'm pulling for Mysterio the most. Meanwhile, Cena has only HHH or HBK (and maybe RVD, but that's really stretching it). We've already seen the HBK match, so I figure HHH has to be the choice, probably through winning some tournament or battle royal, as opposed to winning the Rumble. If it is Cena-HHH, it'll at least be fresh.

Terrible main events that ruin otherwise solid cards
Aero replied to spman's topic in General Wrestling
I've only seen it once, and it was a few years ago, but didn't Judgment Day 98 have a decent undercard? The last two matches feature the random jobbing of The Rock to Mark Henry followed by the horrible Taker-Kane main event, which not only sucked, but still left us without a World Champion. -
Beaten to it. I'll just add... Replacement is

I've never been able to get my hands on X2, so I'll be buying it if only for that. Plus, I never played X4-X6, so yeah... I can't wait.

Maybe it was just me, but in Zelda: OoT, I never thought Sheik could be Zelda until right before it was revealed.
-
Ahem you might want to read my post again. I said they would get a good buyrate regardless of if they do the match. Ahem. The way you put it, it sounds like the good buyrate will be because of the usual people who order just because it's WM.
-
I agree that it should be Batista-Rey at WM, but unless Rey's winning the title, there's no reason to do it on a PPV, let alone WM. So, saving Batista-Taker for Judgment Day wouldn't work, unless you're making it non-title, which would be very lame. I'm all for Batista-Taker, and I think it should be done at either the Rumble or No Way Out. While I think Porter's wrong about the possibility of getting a better buyrate for a Batista-Taker WM match, he's right about 40-year old champion Batista gaining nothing by ending Taker's streak.

SNL "Lazy Sunday" Link from Last Night...
Aero replied to UseTheSledgehammerUh's topic in Television & Film
I must have been in the minority that thought the episode as a whole was horrible... I mean, come on... a skit about wind coming through a door? The digital short was hilarious though. -
Scenes from Class Struggle in Springfield has one thing good going for it... Mr. Burns' cake at the end of the episode.

I think Hartfan86 still has it as his avatar.

You're correct. While I haven't read the spoilers or seen the trailer, it wouldn't be surprising to see them just make him a mutant, though.

Test vs. Shane McMahon from SS 99 was awesome at the time. Watching it today, I'd leave it as decent. Vince vs. Shane from WM X7 holds up pretty well as just a good 'sports entertainment' match

Damn, UXM Cyclops actually doing that to Wolverine is awesome. I was always waiting for something like that to happen when I was into comics way back when.
