    Smackdown VS Raw 2006

BTW, I'm amazed that they actually manage to put a decent Kurt Angle attire in a game. In SYM and HCTP, he had the red "super Angle" tights. Also in HCTP, he had the outdated Team Angle tights. Last year, he had the lame red tights with a fake gold medal on the front. FINALLY, something decent...

Awesome news about the title belts. EDITED so it's not so wide.

    Bret Hart meeting WWE

vs. Bulldog from Summerslam 92 and vs. HBK from Survivor Series 97 are both on Best of Confidential, vs. HBK from WM XII is on From the Vault: HBK, and the Owen Hart tribute is on Benoit's DVD set. So, I'll be hoping for these matches among others... vs. Ric Flair from Saskatoon (just for DVD quality) vs. 1-2-3 Kid from Raw in 94 (never seen it) vs. Mr. Perfect from KOTR 93 (never seen it) vs. Undertaker from One Night Only (never seen it, although will be getting it soon) 10-Man Tag from Canadian Stampede (DVD quality) vs. Austin from Survivor Series 96 (DVD quality)

    Smackdown VS Raw 2006

Hooray for JBL's limo! Hooray for more than one ladder in a ladder match! And about Carlito, above.. I'd say the face is dead-on. It looks perfect to me.

A few new pics from IGN... Looks like cage matches really have been redone. As long as there's no slow climb and the cage is actually factor, I'll be set. Wow, you're actually able to do specific dives off the top now. An awesome pic, and the Survivor Series 04 arena looks awesome with the cartoons on the screens.

    Velocity + Ongoing SmackDown Spoilers

Summerslam has to be the blowoff to Eddie-Rey. It's been going on way too long, especially with such a bad angle attached to it. The problem is that Eddie has no wins, but a proper blowoff would be for Rey to win. I'm thinking that WWE thinks of Eddie's "win" as just completely messing with Rey the past few weeks and revealing the secret anyway as the ultimate heel, and Rey will win the blowoff (hopefully gimmicked, maybe a cage) at Summerslam.

Yeah, you're probably right about the bWo, especially since Stevie apparently just got injured again, and since they seem to want to keep Simon Dean around.
  8. I must be the only one who actually liked Brock-Taker from Unforgiven 02, the match and the finish. At first, I thought Taker was an ass for 'not feeling it' that night, losing to Brock, but he made up for it at No Mercy's HIAC match. In retrospect, I think the DQ finish worked out for the better to keep both guys strong for No Mercy. I don't know about the buyrate comparison, though.

I assume LOD 2005 are only facing jobbers because the only other team is MNM, and it would be pointless to bury them time after time. EDIT: There are the Mexicools, and bWo, but I wouldn't say they're the right opponents for LOD if they are going to keep the belts on them. Mexicools are still being pushed, and face vs. face matches wouldn't be right.

    Velocity + Ongoing SmackDown Spoilers

As much as I like London, I don't mind Nunzio winning the belt, at all. They had an awesome match last Saturday, anyway. I don't know what to think about that... it's just weird for the face to encourage such a protest... not to mention PAUL LONDON gets to cut a promo, although it might not even be long at all.
  11. 'Beautiful People' became SD's theme right before Summerslam 01 when they changed the set to the current one and changed the theme. The original theme was that really fast paced one. Michael really owned Ralph by not putting crab in the risotto. I will say that I liked Ralph's restaurant look better than Michael's, not to say that his was bad, though.
  12. I agree. Plus, I was glad that Michael won. I liked him best from the beginning, and I never really liked Ralph. After watching an old episode of Smackdown, I was wondering... do you think there were actually lyrics in the original SD theme, or was it all just random blabbering?

The OAO Raw thread for 08.01.05

Raw really is much better when you're watching with someone else to make fun of it. The Diva Search segment tonight was the worst for this year's Diva Search. I really felt bad for the live crowd. First, the Vince-Matt promo (promos or interviews aren't usually fun live), then Conway-Venis, then HBK video (videos aren't fun for a live crowd either, even if they are actually funny), THEN the Diva Search. Yikes. I really hate JR. His commentary really lacks any continuity or reason. So last week, Eugene answers Angle's challenge, despite not being from Cleveland. Coach & King even point it out, but JR doesn't care. ("Bah gawd, King, how can you NOT like Eugene?"). So, when Angle wants to win the medals back tonight... "HE'S FROM PITTSBURGH! NOT MOHEGAN SUN! DAMN HIM STRAIGHT TO HELL!" Obviously, the last part didn't happen, but he seemed one second away from going there.

    SummerSlam Card

I'm really not feeling it this year. The only match I'm interested in seeing right now is Cena-Jericho. I have zero interest in the 'dream match' between Hogan & HBK, which is apparently the main event, according to JR & King. I guess it's a better dream match than Summerslam 03's between Bischoff & Shane. Batista-JBL has no place being on the second biggest show of the year, especially since GAB apparently was horrible. My biggest problem is with Eugene-Angle and Carlito-Shelton. The match between Angle and Shelton was right in front of them, waiting to be booked. Shelton no longer has the restrictions of the mid-card IC Title, and Angle is fresh out of a feud with HBK. What do they do? Put Shelton in a series of awful rematches for the same title, and have Angle restart the Angle invitational, only to lose to a retard. Here's how I would build to an Angle-Shelton match. I'm not saying it's GREAT, but it's better than any comedy involving Angle and Eugene... I'm pretty sure they're not heading to South Carolina any time soon, but I'm too lazy to actually check. One week on Raw, SC or not, Benjamin answers the Angle invitational. If not in SC, have Angle refuse the challenge, only for Benjamin to just play it off like Angle's afraid. Have Benjamin last the entire three minutes (legit, not a lame countout), but not be able to pin Angle. By the rules, Benjamin is awarded the gold medals. With Angle sitting on the mat in near tears for losing, Benjamin instead, just drops the medals in front of him, saying that he doesn't need to carry them around to show how good he is. Angle has two reactions. (1) Benjamin just disrespected him and the prestige of the gold medals, and (2) Benjamin never technically beat Angle, rather only outlasted a clock. From there, there's 3-4 weeks of build they can do, leading to Summerslam. In addition, they already have history as Team Angle, which could be brought into the mix, if WWE actually remembers. It's basically former mentor vs. former protege.

    Velocity Thread

I only saw London-Nunzio, and I thought it was one of the better Velocity matches this year. Like Curry mentioned, the springboard double-stomp was awesome, and then there was London's swank SSP. For a little less then 7 minutes, it was great. Almost non-stop action except for a few instances with Nunzio trying to ground London.

    Favourite

Really, I remember loving almost every Raw between WM 13 and Survivor Series 97 because of the Hart Foundation, USA vs. Canada angle. Stand outs are... 3/31/97, Hart Foundation reformed 4/21/97, Austin's ambulence attack on Bret I remember loving the 7/22/02 Raw, post Vengeance. Opener was a decent Jeff-RVD ladder match. Then there was 3-Minute Warning debuting, and the AWESOME Rock-Eddie promo and match.

The Guy You Like Who Actually Sucks

I was a fan of Hardcore Holly's back in 1999 when he was doing the original super heavyweight, big shot gimmick... Taker & Big Show are in the ring, and the Acolytes are approaching, so Holly takes the Acolytes out with a baseball bat and says, "that's the LAST time I'm saving you guys" or something to Taker & Show... awesome.
  18. Oh god, I hate the current title that Cena is carrying around. What a gawdy piece of ugly costume jewellery. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh, I actually meant the Undisputed title, not Cena's version.
  19. Wow, WWE.com really is insane these days. If it's true, then great, because I'd hate to see Jericho go. I've been really enjoying his run these past few weeks as top heel.

    How do you remember

He's my favorite of all time. I'll most remember him for his 1997 run. As an American, I was supposed to loathe him for his anti-US attitude, but the Hart Foundation was just too awesome to hate. At the same time, Steve Austin, Undertaker, Mankind, and HBK were some of the top faces, and I was huge fans of their's as well. Needless to say, 1997 is my favorite year, ever. I'll think of Montreal quickly, though, when it comes to Bret.
  21. To me, the Winged Eagle will always be the best. I'd probably rank the current WWE Title over the Attitude title right now, also... it's just really grown on me ever since Brock's reign in the fall of 03.
  22. Well, unless the match becomes a 'loser leaves WWE' match, it'd be smart to not acknowledge it. Imagine JR saying that: "Well, it's Jericho's last match... let's see if he can beat Cena tonight."

Great spots from Wrestling Video Games

I was playing No Mercy earlier today. It was a triple threat with Jericho (me), Eddie, and X-Pac. We were all pretty beat down. As Eddie and X-Pac fight, I go to the top rope, facing X-Pac. When Eddie's down, X-Pac goes for the a lower body grapple but gets it countered by a kick to the face, bringing him down. Right away, I hit him with a picture perfect splash to get the win. The only problem with the spot as a whole was that Eddie got up and just kicked the air away because he wasn't focused on me trying to stop the pin.
