The OAO Jakks Classic Superstars Thread

From InsidePulse's figure section, here's the upcoming line-ups... There are definitely some good ones in there: Doink, Bobby Heenan, Earthquake, and Cactus Jack I'll likely buy.

    Best hyped PPVs?

Wrestlemania XIV had alot of hype. Just about every match had history going in. Of course, HBK-Austin-Tyson was what the media was focusing on. Then there was Taker-Kane which started building in October, Rock-Shamrock from December, Outlaws-Cactus & Funk from February, HHH-Owen from December. This was a show that delivered. In the same year, Summerslam 98, mainly due to the Austin-Taker "Highway to Hell" story. I remember going in I didn't know who was going to win at all. The HHH-Rock Ladder match was being built up since May, and that match more than delivered and many say that the match basically made both's careers. Owen-Shamrock had their blowoff Lion's Den, a feud that started in late April. Everything else was just there, but those three made the show for me. Survivor Series 98. 1998 had some great builds, and while not a PPV that delivered on wrestling, it delivered on great story. Shane flipping off Austin, the McMahons screwing Mankind, and Rock turning heel... I didn't see any of it coming.

    WWE Raw V.S. Smackdown!

I wouldn't say I'm completely bored with it yet, because I'm still having fun with 6-man tag elimination matches for Survivor Series on Legend difficulty. Plus, having Royal Rumbles with 3 other people is fun. I can now officially say that Season really does suck, however. I think it's already been mentioned, but there are too many divas. Originally, I was Shelton Benjamin on Raw and had to feud with Tajiri over Torrie. After that season, I'm Big Show on Smackdown and I'm immediately in the same feud with Rene Dupree over Torrie. A few months later, I'm feuding with Chavo over Sable. Seriously, if you're not in a title feud, divas are the reasons for feuds. Maybe by the end I can acquire the managerial services of Trish and I can have all three as an option.
  4. Predicted match order, as well... IC Title Shelton Benjamin vs. Christian Benjamin just won the title, so I don't think he's losing it, especially since he has the potential to actually be a decent champ and bring some credibility back to the title. Christian is over as a heel with or without the belt. He doesn't need it right now. This will probably be decent, but nothing great. Prediction: Shelton Benjamin Cruiserweight Title Spike vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Kidman vs. Chavo Spike's reign doesn't seem to be working out at all anymore. He really doesn't even need the title. Rey Mysterio is barely even in the title picture to begin with. Now, there's obviously going to be a Kidman-Chavo match somewhere down the line, probably at Armageddon, so it'll likely be for the title, even though this feud doesn't need it. Of the two, Kidman seems better off with the title for now, and Chavo probably gets it next month. Prediction: Kidman Women's Title Trish vs. Lita A few weeks ago, I thought that Lita needed the win to freshen things up. Trish's only credible challenger is Victoria. Now that Gail & Jazz are both gone, Lita's only credible challenger (besides Trish) is Molly. Lita will win the match, no doubt. In her storyline since April, Lita has basically had nothing good, so after seeing Matt Hardy injured, marrying Kane, and losing her baby, she has to win the title, at least. No matter who wins, the women's division is officially dead. Prediction: Lita Team Angle vs. Team Guerrero Will the Angle-Eddie feud ever die? They claimed that the 2/3 Falls match in either late August or early September would be the rubber match. Wasn't next week that they had a Lumberjack match? This should end it. If it were up to me, I'd have everyone out except Angle & Eddie, have them wrestle for about 10 minutes, and then have Eddie go over clean with a Frog Splash to finally end this disappointment of a feud. Prediction: Team Guerrero (Survivor: Eddie) Undertaker vs. Heidenreich I was originally thinking a DQ finish to basically protect Heidenreich, but on second thought, Undertaker will probably just beat him with a Tombstone in a bad match. Prediction: Undertaker Team HHH vs. Team Orton I'm sure it been said many times in the Raw threads, but damn, do the stipulations suck for this match. With that said, here's a few predictions for the match: Snitsky destroys Maven, Batista pins Orton in the middle portion (protecting the HHH-Orton WM 21 match), Jericho pins HHH, and Edge is eliminated last. Prediction: Team Orton (Survivors: Benoit & Jericho) WWE Title JBL vs. Booker T First, many think JBL is going to win because he said he'll never return to Smackdown if he loses. Not to mention, Book has gotten the best of JBL on every occasion so far. I think most realize that JBL is a failure as a champion basically, and they need to get the title off him. I figure Book wins here and loses to Angle at either the Rumble or No Way Out, allowing that Undertaker-Angle match at WM 21. I'm not thrilled at Book being a transitional champion, but it's better than JBL with the belt until WM, IMO. Prediction: Booker T Overall, it looks like quite a bad Survivor Series, maybe even worse than last year's. I can see almost everything except Taker-Heidenreich being decent, and maybe the two tag matches being *** more or less, but other than that this is not a PPV worth $35. On a positive note, I like the match graphics, alot. I won't be ordering, though.
  5. I was looking to buy copies of Survivor Series 1990, 1992, 1996, and 1997. If anyone can help me out, please reply or PM me and we can work something out.

There's always one per box. Out of the three series, we've gotten MANY boxes of series II, so yes, I've seen MANY. Since it says "Limited Quantity" on the box for Dude, everyone automatically picks him up. I'm not really a hardcore collector for rare figures. I open all of them anyway, so Dude never really interested me, especially since I didn't really like the figure anyway.

    WWE Raw V.S. Smackdown!

I just unlocked the WM XX arena, and they definitely perfected it. They have the titantron with the WM logo in the crowd, and while fighting in the aisle, I noticed that they made every floor seat be one of the WM XX chairs. The stage itself is the floor screen, flashing the WM XX logo. I had a nearly 30 minute match on Legend difficulty between Bret Hart (me) and HBK. It's nearly impossible to make someone submit on Legend. Way too much tapping involved. The AI seems stupider than HCTP. HBK hit me with Sweet Chin Music more than two times when I was just about in all red, and rather than pin me, he goes outside and grabs a chair. Match ended when I reversed SCM and school boyed him for the pin.

Here's what I have in my collection so far... Series I Ultimate Warrior, Bret Hart, & HBK Series II Ric Flair & Sgt. Slaughter Series III Bret Hart, Ted DiBiase, Undertaker Working at a KB, we've been getting more than a few shipments for each series when they first come out. I don't want to spend all the money to collect each series though, so I only buy a few from each. Right now, my favorite is probably Bret from Series III. Everything is perfect, and it's improved from the first, with the elbow pads, knee pads, wrist tape, glasses, and better tights. DiBiase is a close second. He's also perfect, but Bret gets the nod from me only because he's my favorite of all time. I'm still waiting for Series IV, mainly because of Yoko, who is right now, the only one I plan on buying.

    Best/Worst Looking Champions

The Rock and Steve Austin (whenever he actually wore it over his shoulder at least) looked good with the post-WM XIV attitude era WWF Title.

    WWE Raw V.S. Smackdown!

One of the serious flaws I found with Bret is that one of his top rope moves is the moonsault, yet, he's missing the second rope elbow. I'll have to edit that, although they have it from the top rope, which is fine. Other than that, he seems perfect to me. I noticed that the Sharpshooter now affects the legs more than the back. Was it like that in HCTP?

    G-TV mystery

There was also a rumor that it was Headbanger Thrasher (real name, Glenn Ruth, I believe) was behind it. GTV = Glenn-TV. I heard that rumor alot. Plus, it would sort of make some sense, because when GTV showed the footage of Chaz's girlfriend, wasn't it Thrasher who randomly showed the footage to everyone to help out Chaz?

I too am stuck on "Farewell my love", but I'm improving each time. Shouldn't be too much longer before I beat it. Meanwhile, my driving skills are going up. Right now, I have weapon skill for the silenced pistol is totally filled, which is awesome to use.

Old school shows of the week #4!

Ground Zero is probably my favorite IYH PPV of them all. Sure, there is some bad stuff, particuarly the 3-way, but I love the Bret-Patriot and HBK-Taker matches. I've probably watched the HBK-Taker match from here more times than HIAC. It's just one of the best brawls I've every seen in WWF, and it made the viewer really believe that HBK & Taker really HATED each other. Watching live on PPV way back in 1997, the double DQ finish was criminal, but after HIAC, it was obviously necessary. But the Taker tope into everyone outside still is insane to watch. I'd rank this match as one of my favorites of all time.

    WWE Raw V.S. Smackdown!

Unless you're talking about Raw, Smackdown, Heat, & Velocity, every PPV arena is updated, with Summerslam 2003 being the oldest. I bought it earlier and only played for an hour or so. I'm satisfied for the most part so far, although I really am questioning some of the overall ratings. I think Cena and Orton are both WAY too high at 88 I believe. Eddie Guerrero is only an 87, which is about right, but both Cena and Orton should be no higher than 85 I think. I think the Royal Rumbles have definitely improved with the ringout meters, although they do take up alot of space for the six guys on screen along with the normal meters. One problem, so far: Anytime I'm on the apron, and the computer is trying to eliminate me, my ringout meter speeds down, as I tap X and any other button as fast as possible. I've got to be pressing the wrong button, because when I'm trying to do the same to the others, their meter goes much slower. Other than that, it's a much longer match. I watched guys like Kane and Batista eliminate Rey Mysterio and Christian by gorilla pressing them over and out, which was awesome. I started season with Shelton Benjamin and was immediately put into the feud over Torrie's manager contract, in a story that seemingly makes no sense. Tajiri is her evil boyfriend, BTW. So, one week she's all pissed at Tajiri and flirting with me, and the next she makes up with Tajiri and I'm the heel that forcing her to be my manager? Maybe I missed something. The voice-overs aren't anything special so far. Bischoff sounded quite unenthusiastic when he was talking to Tajiri about the possibility of losing Torrie in the match at Backlash. As said by others, I really wish you could actually edit the rosters for season. After the first few times, the same roster can get old. I hope maybe half-way through season there's a draft lottery like the one post-WM XX. That would be fine. Glancing through the match types, I noticed that you can now do an Elimination Chamber Six-Man Tag. I suppose that your teammates are locked in and enter in the order of teammate, computer, teammate, etc. I didn't play it yet, but it could be fun.
  15. 1.) Favorite world title match at the PPV? Bret Hart vs. Diesel (1995) 2.) Favorite SSeries team elimination match? Tie: Team WWF vs. Alliance (2001) and Piper, Bret, Bulldog, & Virgil vs. Flair, DiBiase, Warlord, & Mountie (1991) 3.) Favorite face / heel (or both) SSeries team assembled? Face: Piper, Bret, Bulldog, & Virgil (1991) Heel: Tie: Radicalz (2000) and Teamsters (1994) 4.) Favorite non-world title, non-team battle match other than Austin / Hart? Flair & Razor vs. Savage & Perfect (1992) 5.) Favorite segment? I can barely think of any, so I'll just say the first two that come to mind. Firstly, the pre-match interview for the Wild Card match in 1995, where Cornette and DiBiase are arguing, and HBK comes in and shuts everyone up, "Ladies, ladies..." Secondly, the finish to the tournament in 1998, with Rock celebrating with the McMahons, Mankind trying to comprehend what happened, and Austin running in. 6.) Things you hated besides the Montreal Screwjob? Everyone except Flair being DQ'd in 1991. Lame ending to a GREAT match. No real Survivor Series Tag Matches in 1992 and 2002 Mr. Perfect no-showing in 1993 HORRIBLE 4 Doinks vs. Bigelow's team in 1993 The Teamsters all being counted out in 1994 Everyone being DQ'd in the Team Yoko-Team Vader match in 1996 Austin being hit by the car in 1999 Austin-HHH forklift incident in 2000 Austin makes a great farewell speech in 2003... only to return a few weeks later

    WWE Raw V.S. Smackdown!

Online only has Bra & Panties and single matches. Quite disappointing. I'm definitely going to pick it up sometime this week. Sure, it is almost a downgrade from HCTP, but I have the extra money right now, and I loved the gameplay of HCTP. It's going to be hard playing this and San Andreas, though.
  17. WM XX Sure, besides being considered the biggest PPV of all-time by WWE, I was really looking forward to the card, for Angle-Eddie, 3-Way, Taker-Kane, and Jericho-Christian. In the long run, both Angle-Eddie and Taker-Kane were disappointments, and the 3-Way and Handicap Match were surprisingly above average. Summerslam I probably ordered this out of habit more than anything, because Summerslams are usually good, but I was looking forward to it for Orton-Benoit and Angle-Eddie above anything else. It was actually disappointing in the long run. Orton's title reign meant nothing, making Benoit look weak as he was immediately sent down to the mid-card. I did pay for front row Royal Rumble seats, and a friend taped No Way Out for me. Other than that, I've gotten all the other PPVs of this year on DVD. Technically, I ordered only two PPVs this year, which has been a record low for me. I used to order more than half the PPVs, but no longer, probably due to lack of interest.

    Elimination Chamber

Back on topic though... I like the EC matches, but right now is not a good time for one, especially for Raw. An EC match should have some kind of unpredictability as to who's going to win. Right now, for Raw, no matter what other five wrestlers you put in the match, you know HHH is going to win. The possible list of contenders for Survivor Series are Orton, Jericho, Benoit, Batista, Flair, Shelton Benjamin, and Edge. I think that everyone, including the marks, probably know by now that they are likely holding off the HHH-Orton rematch until WM, and there's no way that any of the others, except MAYBE Edge, would be given a title win with such little build (2 more weeks?). In order for an EC to actually draw some excitement, the other five guys obviously have to be built up almost equally. Obviously, WWE really screwed that up with both of the matches so far, with only HHH & HBK looking strong the first time, and HHH & Goldberg looking strong the second time (See a pattern?). Plus, the other two times were basically excuses to get the others onto the PPV, especially the second one. Nobody on Raw looks strong right now except HHH, Orton, and Edge, so WWE should definitely hold off.

    The early 2004 "classics"

I've only seen their Judgment Day match once, and I enjoyed it for the most part, but I liked the bull rope match at GAB more. That's probably in my top 5 matches for this year.

    GTA: San Andreas

I played for a few hours today, and I'm loving it so far. That first bike mission was hard on the first try. I'm trying to pedal up the hill, but the gang just keeps capping me, so I ditch the bike and hide between houses. Of course, they find me and kill me. I easily beat it the second time around. It's so easy to get lost in the city. I dove off of a cliff into water and ended up swimming onto a beach and then into the boardwalk. Anyone know if the other cities are locked at the start, like the other games?

I reserved mine at KB, if only to get my employee discount of a whopping 10%. I stopped by last night, but it's not coming in until later today. Meanwhile, both EB & Babbages have massive lines waiting outside for the game. I'm in school right now, and I'm going straight to KB after. I can't wait.

Worst show you ever saw live?

It was a Smackdown house show last October, in Trenton. I actually remember it being on the same night as the Raw where Shane McMahon "killed" Kane by sending his limo into the truck. The big main event was Brock defending the title against Angle and Cena in a Triple Threat match. It lasted all of 2-3 minutes and was just each guy hitting their finishers. Everything else was pretty lackluster outside of a Mysterio-Tajiri match.
