That's either a mistake or fucking hilarious.

Can someone explain to me the Brian Jonestown Massacre? I can't figure out why I enjoy them so much.

Evan Almighty is already being heralded as a disappointment. $175 million to make, plus another $50 million in marketing = 225 million. They've got to not be pleased with this one. But they must be satisfied with 1408. Smart scary movies are hard to come by, and when I saw it last night, the theatre was packed, with people coming in right up until the movie started. It's gotten good word of mouth around here, so I see it going strong for a few weeks. Hopefully it'll bring about some more movies of the type, as opposed to the "torture porn" genre we keep getting. This is gonna be a huge weekend at the movies. Ratatouille, Live Free of Die Hard, plus Sicko, plus the current crop of good movies out? Good time of year to be in the film industry.

I've listened to this album twice so far, and nothing is really throwing itself at me. Halloweenhead and Two are, of course, really good songs, but the rest of it just seems recycled. I mean, shit, "Off Broadway" is off of the Suicide Handbook, which came out before Gold, and I'm getting a little tired of the obligatory "this song is sad, that means I'll play the piano" approach he keeps taking.

Holy Diver and Mob Rules are some alright songs. Though those are really the only two Dio songs I know off the top of my head. His work on the Tenacious D Pick of Destiny soundtrack is awesome, though.

1408 (John Cusack, Samuel L. Jackson)
justsoyouknow replied to Downhome's topic in Television & Film
I saw it last night, and I thought it was great. It was well-shot, and didn't go for cheap scares, like I figured it would. Instead, this was a smart psychological movie that had me actually questioning a lot of it as we were leaving, trying to make sense out of story elements. They did it well by never really explaining what exactly was going on, just leaving it with Samuel L Jackson saying, "It's an evil fucking room". Great movie, highly recommended if you haven't been to a great movie in quite some time. -
I rented Command and Conquer 3 today - fun, but the controls are a bit challenging to get used to.

The "game" Matt Young speaks of is Candyland. Gets them every time. -

It doesn't surprise me that Gary Floyd's personal life isn't interesting. -

Religious Tolerance & Religious Moderation Are a Joke
justsoyouknow replied to Big Ol' Smitty's topic in Current Events
Wasn't there something along the lines of some Christian author named Origen who claimed that Josephus didn't view Jesus as the Christ, just as some guy named Jesus? But I seem to recall there being mention of Jesus. -
You're an amusement.

So he's springboards off of shit? This sounds like either the best or worst movie ever.

Luke-o's kind of grown on me. Like a wart, or something, but still.

Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah

The more I think about it, all of his books are exactly the same. Nihilism, time travel, nonlinear format.

It's indie at it's most superficial, for sure.

Religious Tolerance & Religious Moderation Are a Joke

Um, Jesus was a real person. Tax records & what-not of the period. Go ahead & continue to discuss the theological/divinical aspect of the guy, but historical Jesus isn't up for debate. yeah, he was just some dude. -
There, I saved you the trouble of posting. Bitter.

I could see how it could be a detachable section of the Batmobile - maybe when things get a little tense and he needs to cruise down some alleys to make a quick getaway or something along those lines, but I can hardly see him being like, "Yeah, I'm gonna take the bat pod." That's what they're referring to it as, the Bat Pod, so that would kind of confirm the detachable aspect of it. As far as the two villains are concerned, Scarecrow escaped in Batman Begins, and in the animated series (and the comics), I don't seem to recall any of them getting killed off as the original Batman movies liked to do.

Yeah, it's the Bat Cycle. Apparently there's a Bat Cycle.
