Oh, yeah, well I made myself a sandwich for lunch, but I was still hungry. Then I decided to make another sandwich. It wasn't as good as the first one, but I still gave it **1/2. And I have four remotes, bitches.

    Tarantino talks

I'd guess that a Tarantino war film would feature minimal combat and a lot of dialogue. You can say whatever you want about Tarantino, the man is a genius when it comes to capturing the human spirit through dialogue. This movie will own you. And what exactly is "conventional" blood and death in a war film? It's war, people die in fucked up ways all the time.

    Because I DIDN'T get high

Opium makes me pass out and have creepy, fucked up dreams. It also makes me see police everywhere I look, and causes my heart to literally stop beating in my chest whenever I'm panicked. Then I get a cold sweat and feel incredibly dizzy, then I sit down and stare at the fire until I can't hold my head up anymore. In other words, I love it.

    Tattoos

I turn eighteen on Friday, so I was thinking about getting a tattoo. The only issues are that A) I can't think of anything, and B) I have a slight phobia of needles. Now I'm sitting at work and I'm incredibly bored, so I figured I'd ask if anyone here had any tattoos. What did you get, when did you get it, do you regret it, and any pictures would be pretty cool. Share, please, so that I can steal one of your ideas and spin it off as my own.

    American Idol 3

I'm not too fond of Dean Martin, but Sinatra's near the top of my list of all-time favorites. Although, I can't stand his more popular songs, like "Under My Skin" or "Fly Me to the Moon", I'm more of a fan of his more low-key stuff, like "I'll Never Smile Again" and "I'm a Fool to Want You". "I'm a Fool to Want You" features some heartbreaking vocals on Frank's part. The thing about Stevens that I liked is that he actually attempts to be different. Fantasia, Hudson, London, they all just seem to be like every other mainstream R&B singer out there. True, he doesn't have the voice to sing pop music, but when he's on, he's on. I haven't seen him be excellent since the beginning of the competition though, when he busted out "The Way You Look Tonight" during his audition. That's what caught my eye....or my ear...either one. When he actually does his Dean Martin impression or his Frank Sinatra impression, he can do a good job...he actually sounded like Dean Martin (the whole "drunk" thing...check out Rat Pack Live! and you can hear Martin mix up the words to "I Left My Heart in San Francisco...he says "Fran Sansisco", then when someone yells at him, he says, "You shut your god-damned mouth")...while Stevens doesn't carry the same stage presence as the Rat Pack, at least he's attempting to be different. The thing that bothers me is that now they're trying to make him look like everyone else in the show, with the fancy shirts and the spiky "bed-head" look to his hair. I say let him stick with the suit and the slicked back look he was rocking towards the beginning. The issue I have with the show in general is that they're forcing him as hard as they can to change. Let him keep the look, let him keep the style, and he's fine. But when the judges tell him to change his style, he changes it, and they want the old Stevens back. He changes back, and they want him to change again. It's a lose/lose situation for him here. But, I digress. I actually enjoyed Jeniffer Hudson, I thought she gave the best performance this week, and shouldn't have been voted off. Fantasia can still suck my ass, though. EDIT: And I wasn't even alive in nineteen eighty foooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

The fact that you claim that I don't listen to Sinatra is quite amazing. If you read back towards the beginning of the thread, you can read about my love for the Rat Pack. I'm not going to repeat myself for your benefit, but I'll just leave it at this: odds are, I listen to more Sinatra than you. And everyone is right. Reading back over what I'd written, I crossed a line. I apologize for going overboard, and I'd like to especially apologize to Ripper. You're good people, and I feel bad now.

John should be gone. I'm not denying that. Hudson should still be there. But I like Stevens, if not just for his Sinatra/Martin vibe. If he were to release a CD, I'd buy it. Fuck, who gives a shit if he has no charisma? The idea is to push records, and last I checked, you don't need to have charisma to do that.

    American Idol 3

See, when you have to result to personal attacks (namely calling people "nerds" for voting for Stevens) then your entire point is thrown right out the window. American pop music as a whole is catering to African Americans. This show is no exception. And the divas are arrogant, because any single time that Fantasia gets any type of negative feedback, the judges are wrong and she doesn't care what they say. Talent doesn't equal sitting on the stage, pounding your fists repeatedly, warbling about fish jumping. I'm very sorry. And what "different" songs is she trying? I must have missed those, because as far as I can tell, she's picking the stereotypical "I'm black and I can sing very loudly" songs.

    I don't get this

It probably has a lot to do with the fact that DFA knows that everyone hates him, so he's going back to his old username in hopes that no one will recognize it. He's probably also hoping that no one knows his old name, despite the fact that he posted it in the thread where every single person on the board owned him. You can't blame a whole board's lack of intelligence on DFA. He's a very special case.

    American Idol 3

Congratulations, Starvenger, you just stated exactly what is wrong with this show. As far as everyone getting super-pissed because one of the three "divas" is gone, fuck you. Especially Ripper. Week in and week out it's nothing but hatred from Ripper to John Stevens, who is 16 years old, and, coincidentally, the whitest person on the show. Every week Ripper says that he can't sing, that it's a travesty for him to be there, and that he needs to be gone. Every week Fantasia sucks, but he damn near puts a load right in the middle of his keyboard, and does the same for Latoya London and Jeniffer Hudson. Hey, Ripper, I'm going to spell this out for you: dime-a-dozen R&B singers. John Stevens hearkens back to singers that actually had talent: Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Junior, and their ilk. What does Fantasia bring to the table? Oh, she can sing really loud and warble a lot. Fantastic. What did Jeniffer Hudson bring to the table? Besides looking a whole lot Macy Gray and wearing unbelievably ugly outfits the first few weeks, there was nothing to her. Latoya London, I can't even name a fucking song she's sang so far. The "three divas" have, thus far, been interchangeable. Equal talent, equal marketability. Pigeonhole Stevens all you want and claim that he can only sing one style, but the same goes for the "three divas". If they would put in a genre that didn't cater to Fantasia's skills, then you wouldn't be fellating her every time she walks onstage. It's the same thing with Stevens...every week it's Disco week, or Soul week, or something catering to the African American singers. If they had Big Band week, you'd be the first to say that Fantasia didn't have a chance because it wasn't "her style", and you'd proceed to make excuses for why she didn't do well. Why is that when it's not John Stevens' style of choice, you claim that he has no right to be there, but when it's not Fantasia's style, it's not fair? So far, Stevens has done something that Fantasia hasn't been able to do: showcase excellent control over his voice. I don't really care that Fantasia can warble and flop around on the stage and shriek at the top of her lungs about summertime, she shows me nothing. Stevens, for his age, is the best SINGER on the show.
