This thread, however, is not. So why does SP choose to make a joke about the Popick "nonsense" when he's got a whole damn thread full of nonsense to choose from?

Well, most people don't exactly get all of the references that Vol. 2 contains, and they came in expecting more of the first movie. I read the script beforehand, so I knew to expect a typical Tarantino movie ("Tarantino's in love with his dialogue" goes the quote) But, again, opinions differ. Everyone I knew wanted to see Vol. 2 be a sequel to Vol. 1, when it was really the other half of Vol. 1...which is kind of why I was disappointed on the visual aspect of the second half.

Are you honestly comparing a Tarantino film to Godzilla 2000? Do you expect me to take you seriously here? Tell me what scenes popped out at you then in this movie. If the visuals didn't disappear entirely, then fucking tell me what you saw that was on par with the imagery of the first. Oh, he used an after-effect to make it wide-screen to full-ratio? That's not a fucking image. The plot we agree on. The plot was outstanding, Uma Thurman should win an oscar for her performance. But plot does not make a movie, unfortunately. Punch Drunk Love had an excellent plot, but was there anyone out there talking about how fantastic it was? Every single person that I've talked to that has seen Kill Bill, Vol. 1 thought it was outstanding. Everyone that I've talked to about Kill Bill, Vol. 2 thought that it was rubbish. I'm still troubled by your Godzilla 2000 reference. Ok...for the last time...I said that they need to mix equally to make a great film. This film was incredibly heavy on dialogue, and incredibly lax when it came to visuals. In my eyes, it was an outstanding movie that could have been improved greatly.

I'd also consider going with "Asleep" by The Smiths.

Nice of you to gloss over the part where I said "YOU NEED THE TWO ELEMENTS TO MIX TOGETHER." The first film was heavy on visuals, light on plot, this film was light on visuals, heavy on plot. And as far as the "plot only matters in a book"...there's no visuals in a book. Mental imagery is all that you get there. As a book, Kill Bill Vol. 2 would be a best seller, however, as a film, the images don't translate to the screen very well. The film has it's flaws, it doesn't make you a lesser person to say it. The images were dull. Drab. Not interesting. "Oooh, a desert. Look at all the dirt. Ooh, Bill's house. Look at all the....stuff." There wasn't anything in this one that jumped out and grabbed your attention, you were meant to focus entirely on the plot. I suppose if you want to pretend that I'm not saying the plot was excellent, that's your perogative.

Did he do the Axl Rose "Knock knock knockin on heaven's doowhoawah/Hey hey hey hey yeah" version of the song? Nope, he did the original...maybe it was just the way that he sang it, but mixed with the acoustic, it was great. Another guy that was there (you know the guy who gets drunk and acts like an ass all night) started trying to freestyle over the top and everyone else just started bitching him out. One of my all-time favorite songs.

Well, considering the amount that he was bandaged and the fact that you could see the stitches, plus the fact that he kept selling pain with every step that he took, I'm pretty sure he wasn't acting like a hardass. All he said was that he took it all and came out on top. It's not like he said, "Fuck you, Foley, you ain't shit, and none of the bumps I took hurt." He was selling the injuries...what the fuck do you want him to do? Take a couple weeks off and come back when he's healed? That makes him seem weaker in comparison. The fact that he lived through what Foley could dish out and then came back the next night, visibly in pain, is clearly an attempt to put him over as a legit threat.

I'd pay to see Trivia take some of those bumps.
