I thought about Styles...but he's so small. Whenever a WWE guy who isn't the biggest goes to TNA it's quite clear that WWE's guys are huge. Christian is taller than Joe for example. That being said...I think Styles and HBK could have a hell of a match if they let it be like HBK/Benjamin was, where they played up Styles outquicking Michaels and losing close.

I think the double standard was "If you guys associate with TNA in any way you will be sent home from Mania"... "Everyone welcome TNA wrestler Kevin Nash to our backstage area!"
-
If someone would "quit" this messageboard for being sent to whiney bitches...they take this whole thing way too seriously and were not a match for the board in the first place. ... Let's test this on someone.

I just watched Wrestling Hotbeds for Carolina... I did not know that the Rock had wrestled Ric Flair one on one. That was a most pleasent surprise.

I'm just not sure what it's supposed to be anymore. At first, I dreamt of a land where all the posters that we pretty much all agree are shitty live together and we watch with sick fascination while Leena tore them apart until they either improved or moved on. That is not what I got.

The gulag jumped the shark when Marvin didn't post in it. It took all the fun out of the idea.

Well as per usual I disagree with you 100%. I have never been bothered by Tenay calling a match...and I have never been entertained by cole calling one. It's that far apart for me. While Tenay may overact to situations...Cole watches entire sequences go by in silence and waits to say "Phenom" or "Opportunistic" or "reversal" or "That submission manuever". If that's your cup of tea...go nutty.

Cole is not good with a good color man. Taz and JBL spent half the time making fun of him. That made for better commentary...but specifically BECAUSE Cole sucked.

I could see the JR's Pick being a Flair or Solie match just given the nature of it being JR's Pick. I really wonder what they're going to feature of Mae Young. The HOF stuff seems to be classy so maybe they found an old match from the 50's with her???? Don't forget we'll have another Coliseum Home Vid...I mean Hot-Beds. And the by way, anyone else notice they added sections for JR's Pick of the Month, My Favorite Match and Hot-Beds? That stuff is finally being archived. Still no old Raw's archived of History of IC Title though... The history of the IC title videos are all catalogued at the top of the Intercontinental section.

The return?...debut?...redebut? of Consequences Creed
The Ghost of bps21 posted a topic in TNA Wrestling
Video that LIVE Impact couldn't handle Anyone who saw Bound For Glory in October will remember Consequences Creed. He's the guy who replaced PacMan Jones in the TNA Tag Title loss to AJ Styles and Tomko. Upon his enterence I know I was scratching my head. Decked out like Apolo Creed circa Rocky 4 and dancing to the ring I thought we were in for another dose of patented TNA WrestleCrap. Surprisingly, Creed went out and had a nice showing. So nice, in fact, that TNA signed him to a contract and is now ready to bring him to the active roster (previous videos listed the date of Lockdown as his return date...the new video just says "2 weeks") So...it's a feel good story and a new wrestler who ISN'T a WWE castoff...which are both plusses. Who knows what they'll do with him...or how good he'll be (although I'm pretty impressed with how he carried himself put in a pretty tough spot on TNA's biggest show to date) but anyway... He highlights the problem that I've been having with TNA for a while. The lack of a midcard title. Eric Young, Robert Roode, James Storm, Kaz (since they don't use him as an X division guy at this point) and now Creed all fit a mold of nowhere to go. They aren't going to be X champions. They aren't in tag teams. They aren't going to be World champion. What is the point? Sure guys like Roode are billed as a future top guy...and hey...maybe. And he gets to work a long program with a big name...but they aren't going to be putting him in the title picture even if he were to win the feud. I thought for a long time that TNA didn't need another title...but given their penchant for not always defending the ones they have on tv or ppv with any regularity...maybe it wouldn't hurt. Think about this...If they decided to push Hernandez as a singles wrestler...they'd have no title for him to go after BUT the TNA title. Since they have trouble coming up with reasons for people to feud that make any sense as it is maybe just throwing a midcard title in the mix would take away some of the lunacy. They could always throw guys like Booker and Abyss and Steiner and who although seen as above a midcard title...aren't in the main event scene into the slot too. It could be a good way to seperate a guy that they want to move away from the X division too. Kaz would benefit alot by just having a goal other than sitting around waiting for another title shot that probably isn't coming. I know that 5 titles would be a lot...but they don't really use them all the time anyway. It could actually look good for the title if (in one of the many 6 man ppv matches that the World and Tag titles seem to be stuck in) the card had a title defense other than the specialized woman's and cruisers...er...x division. Thoughts? -

Yeah...that gimmick doesn't bother me in the least. It makes them more memorable than hey...it's Lance Hoyt and Jimmy Rave. Their a low card tag team...and they've been working well with LAX in recent weeks. ...I also laugh at their prematch shtick.
-
Nothing about this doesn't make me happy in my happy places. 8 minutes without a field goal? Wow.
-
They started their backup who hadn't played in like 30 games...a defenseman who hadn't played all year following heart surgery...and 2 guys who hadn't played in a long time and aren't any good... It's not their fault Boston can't score.
-
Everyone agrees they shouldn't be talking during the nonwrestling segments But at least they can do a match without making me want to cry. Cole/Coach calling Edge/Taker made me want to cry. In fact...they make me not watch Smackdown. I can't say that about Tenay/West...which is why I think Cole and coach are worse.
-
Cole and Coach go through lulls of silence during matches...not brought about by letting the action speak for itself...but because I honestly think they don't know what to say. Watch the beginning of MVP/Hardy this week for some of the most awkward and terrible comentery that you will ever hear. They have 0 chemistry...and most of the time I am of the opinion that they don't even know what's going on in front of them. I'm not going to fault Tenay and West for selling something that they're told to sell... But I have to fault Coach and Cole for sounding like they've never seen a wrestling match before.

Another great memory from that era: Kid Kash vs. AJ Styles X division street fight. Kash had badmouthed Styles in interviews about not deserving his spot...so a match between the two was inevitable. One of the first things I remember about this match was just how over Kash was as a heel at this time. He came out and got into it with a fan while AJ stood in the ring wondering how long this was going to go on for. When they got rolling this was just fantastic. They brawled all over the place leading to one of my favorite moments. They came off of a balcony and crashed through a table...which was an awesome spot...but not the best moment. As they were laying there...and before they got up...Styles started elbowing Kash in the face as they were still laid out. I LOVED that. The intensity for the match was one of, if not the, best of the weekly era. I feel like this match is forgotten in the mix of the best matches that happened back then...but if you get a chance...check it out.
-
I should say again...I have absolutely zero problem with the way they call matches. It has never annoyed me. It's everything that happens outside of bell to bell that drives me insane.

I love that idea. I can be a Cubs fan for a season

The return?...debut?...redebut? of Consequences Creed
The Ghost of bps21 replied to The Ghost of bps21's topic in TNA Wrestling
TNAwrestling.com has confirmed that Creed will be wrestling Jimmy Rave in the final qualifying match for the X title Xscape match at Lockdown. Draw your own conclusions... -
You know who I would use as a heel announcer? Christopher Daniels. Any time he did some commentary during past impacts he was great. He always comes accross as serious about the product in the way he handles his interviews and they could play up the fact that he got fired from wrestling in TNA and has to be an announcer. Then they could have him mysteriously "disappear" for CurryMan matches. That would keep me entertained for months. "Sorry to do this guys...but I have a phone call I have to take" ...CurryMan wrestles... Daniels comes back out of breath "What did I miss?"
-
There hasn't been an update on that in a couple of months. I think that having all the women wrestling on the ppv is as close as we're going to get. I don't think the ratings for a Knockouts show would do that well...but I guess you never really know unless you try
-
Well...then even if they don't sell another ticket they can paper a sell-out. I really love when they get out of the Impact Zone for ppvs because it just "feels" like a bigger and better show. TNA fans are always vocal no matter where they go...so I'm really looking forward to seeing 7000 people making the show that much better than it would be with a smaller crowd.

I don't want to derail this into an anti-Cole/Coach thing... But last night during the Hardy/MVP match they spent the entire match arguing about stuff that had nothing to do with what was going on in the ring. And I may miss the exact quote...but at one point Coach said: "I hear that when you're working on your opponent and they scream like that...it feels really good." That's it. Not said for comedy...or with any hint of purpose. He just said it.

I watched Smackdown when I got home last night...and had just watched Impact the day before. They are DEFINITELY beter than Cole and Coach.
