    2005 Wrestler of the Year

Actually Meltzer rated that triple threat ***** as well. Making that every match he's rated in the 2000s as *****...having involved Samoa Joe.

    2005 Wrestler of the Year

It's Joe and it's not that close. What Joe has done in RoH is enough to make the claim...but his joining TNA and almost immediatly becoming a focus of the company...and a guy they are building around seals the deal. It's Samoa Joe.

TNA Announces Major debut @ Genesis

It is bigger in that the others you mentioned were fired or let go, but to the outside world Christian left WWE willingly to join TNA. And you don't even know what Christian will do in TNA, so it's very premature to say those names have done more than he ever will. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Bingo

    Samao Joe

The last 3 times Meltzer gave a ***** star rating to a match in North America...Samoa Joe was in it. That's enough for now. Bow down and recognize the greatness. I think the last one before the Samoa Joe trilogy (vs. Kobashi (RoH), vs. Styles & Daniels (TNA) vs. Punk (RoH)) was the first Hell In a Cell. Just for a frame of reference to how long it's been.

    A Gimmick for Roderick Strong

I think they only did those sit down interviews because a lot of the roster couldn't really talk at that point. AJ and AMW always did sit downs...and they couldn't cut a promo to save their lives. AJ still can't. The problem with those sitdowns is that there is no way for the wrestler to show any kind of fire when they speak.

    TNA coming to Philly?

They don't really have to worry about production stuff that much...it isn't going to air. The talent is the show anyway.

    A Gimmick for Roderick Strong

Here's simple: Have him put someone out with a backbreaker. Good TV. Injury angles haven't even been done in TNA as I can recall.

    TNA coming to Philly?

As long as they weren't running the same day as TNA...then yes. Since TNA only runs every other Tuesday and one Sunday...it wouldn't matter. In the extreme case that both companies grow and start running the same dates...I don't know what would happen to Joe, Aries and Strong. It would be interesting though. I'd imagine that if RoH were to run a show on a Sunday where TNA already had a ppv scheduled...they'd work TNA. But if TNA were to run a Saturday house show when they were already booked for RoH...that would get dicey.

    TNA coming to Philly?

I know that AJ Styles contract allows them to pull him off other shows in favor of TNA if they are running that day. However...the story when Joe signed (and since then Aries and Strong) is that they can't pull him. I'm not certain if that holds for singular dates...or just that they can't tell him where he can't work though. I get the feeling that any bookings anyone on the roster has set for this day...they'd probably be pulled from.

    TNA News from 11/7 Observer

I have this terrible idea that 5 minutes into the Joe/Liger match is when they finally decided to do the gauntlet. There had been talk that Rhino would get the shot...but the gauntlet came out of nowhere. Someone in creative might have finally gotten to thinking about how Rhino goes from Monster's Ball to the title shot...and that cost Joe and Liger. I'll say this...I liked the idea of the Gauntlet. I liked seeing Rhino and the others crawl to the ring for their shot...and seeing Rhino win the car wreck match, the Gauntlet and the title is a nice little story... But that doesn't help me understand how the Diamonds in the Rough match didn't just get cut.

    Breaking down the TNA roster

I was going to try and cover the whole roster...but instead I'll just pick out some highlights of things that either impress of irritate me. 1. Ron Killings. Someone (before 3LK dissolves into the James Gang and whatever Konnan is going to be doing) needs to save this guys career. Someone has to go up to this guy when he's dancing around and smack him in the mouth. Someone has to light the fire under his character and remind him that WAYYY back in the first 2 months of the company nobody (including Styles) ran harder with the ball. There was a time in the weeks before he won the NWA title and during the better part of his title reign that Killings was the most interesting character on the show. Now he's a shell of that. Someone ought to let him now. I maintain that Killings is always only one promo away from being a top guy in the company. Hell...after all the 3LK/Kip James garbage...the only reason the Kru hasn't imploded is that Killings in the voice of reason. Instead of having Konnan turn on James, or James turn on Konnan...why not have Truth matter again and his absence from the group be the reason for their downfall? 2. Monty Brown. Sometimes charisma and look are enough to be a star. Not a good worker...but an absolute breath of fresh air to the NWA title picture. Jarrett, Raven, Rhino and Hardy are the guys circling the title right now with Brown. What these guys have in common (outside of being past their best and having the stink of failure elsewhere) is that their matches need every shortcut in the book to not get blown away by the rest of the roster. Brown is a different animal. First of all...I like his gimmick. I like it because it's simple. I like his promos. I like his squash matches. I like Monty Brown. I want Monty Brown to be NWA Champion. All of that is predicated on Monty Brown squashing people while he's the champion. TNA should lay out an edict: No Monty Brown match shall run longer than 7 minutes...until they have the guy who's going to knock him off the top...and that guy can take him past that limit and beat him. They should make it a little less about dominating guys we've never heard of...and a little more about more established guys trying to figure out how to survive a match against him. It's time to start pulling the trigger on Monty. 3. The X division mess. The X division is split into 3 very obvious groups right now. 1. AJ Styles, Samoa Joe and Christopher Daniels. They get the match time, the pushes and are the obvious top guys in the division. 2. Chris Sabin, Petey Williams and Matt Bentley. The B team. Not a Bentley fan (can Kazarian please come back and team with him soon?), not a Petey fan unless he's facing Sabin. Sabin I like. Sabin I think is underrated. 3. Austin Aries, Roderick Strong, Sonjay Dutt and Alex Shelley. If you've only seen TNA during the Spike era...and never watched RoH...the only one you can tell from the others is Sonjay...cause he's Indian. Say it with me people...character development. Aries, Strong and Shelley are awesome btw. I don't know how to fix this mess. Strong and Shelley can team up. Bring back Kazarian to team with Bentley. Give Aries some character. Maybe that's what I'd do.

    Veronica Mars Season Two

I'll put this in spoiler tags...but its fine for anyone who's seen season 1. I just don't feel like discussing season 1 stuff in the open in case people want to buy the DVDs.

    New Diva signed

TNA ANNOUNCES SIGNING OF NEWEST “TNA KNOCKOUT” JACKIE GAYDA TNA Wrestling is proud to announce the signing of Jackie Gayda, becoming the latest “Knockout” to join Total Nonstop Action. With Gail Kim and Traci already commanding the spotlight for Total Nonstop Action, it will be interesting to see if the addition of Gayda will lead to the sharpening of claws among TNA’s current femme fatales in the near future. Gayda joins TNA after four years of in-ring competition and is a former winner of the “Tough Enough” series. In addition to her stunning beauty and athletic prowess, Gayda was also a track and field star and an All-Ohio athlete. “It’s a very exciting time for me to join TNA Wrestling,” Gayda told TNAwrestling.com. “I’m proud to be the newest ‘TNA Knockout’ and given the opportunity to prove myself again, but let me say this – this time things are going to be a little different. There’s a certain situation going on that I plan to address, one that affects me on so many levels, but I’ll leave it at that for now. To all my fans – see you soon on SpikeTV!” Check back to TNAwrestling.com in the upcoming weeks for an update on Jackie Gayda’s debut for TNA Wrestling! -tnawrestling.com Seeing as Haas is the one who really wanted to continue his career...and Gayda is just his trophy wife from his years spent in the WWE... Haas would seem to be on his way.

Just one more thing on my anti-WWE kick (since I will be watching Raw on Monday as always...) TNA put Samoa Joe, AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels on prime time last night. WWE pulls things out of JRs ass and drives off talent like Austin and Christian. They day has come that as a TNA fan...I can look down on the WWE and not have to feel small time. And it feels... PHENOMENAL.

I've been playing video games for the better portion of my life. I got my NES under the chirstmas tree and played Top Gun and Contra until my hands were numb. Anyone who has yet to play KOTOR...shame on you. It's a system seller. It's probably the best 40 hours I've sat in front of a console for. It's just...that...good.

    Christian Quits the WWE

Team 3D s helped by 2 things: 1. They'd been off TV (save for a good showing at One Night Stand) for a LONG time...and some of their staleness wore off 2. They went to a place where a value was placed on tag team wrestling. They couldn't show up in WWE and have a money feud with an actual tag team...but in TNA they could...because TNA has spent 3+ years putting over tag team...and AMW vs. the Dudleys...is...Interesting.

Lollipop... mmm... Yes I remember. ... anyway...a good freind of mine (who posts around here very rarely as TDINDCsomethingorother) and I watch all the TNA ppvs, and go to the local RoH shows. I think that he summed it up best. Between TNA's weekly hour and their monthy ppvs, and the RoH DvDs being released at record pace... There just isn't time for WWE anymore. Now that's coming from a perspective of people who like to be entertained (and what entertains us is good wrestling and wicked spots) and not people that like to be fed the same thing by lesser talent than fed it before (seriously...when Steve Austin was playing the role of John Cena...that was good. The understudy performace blows). Once a year WWE trots out something to remember like Angle vs. HBK. RoH gives you great matches pretty much every show. And TNA gives you memorable matches every month. Taboo Tuesday? People...WWE is only the flagbearer as long as you let them wave it.

I get that. I suppose the main difference comes down to the fact that most of TNA's roster is cruisers...and that they've actually been pushed and main evented shows in the past. But still...having Paul London and Juvi and Kid Kash working the same matches as Batista and John Cena is nutty. Why even have a cruiser division at that point?

If TNA can continue to do well...and actually become a profitable little wrestling company... I would just like to say that the reason it will happen... ... ... is ... ready for it? ... Vince bannning the high risk moves of the cruisers. Seriously. That was a mistake. It may be (as Batista calls it) Car Crash wrestling...but no one's going to turn that off for a while. TNA needs to start using that to build people into caring about the guys that are doing all the car wreck moves.

I think they could easily handle 2 hours a week of TV with the roster they have. Hell...when they were doing the 2 hour weekly ppv shows the main problem was that they had nothing to build towards. 2 hours of Impact would look a lot like the 1 hour show. Just a hare slower, a couple more minutes for matches, and more promos. I'm not a big 20 minute promo guy...but to the casual TNA Spike viewer...most of these guys haven't had a 20 second promo.

If they were on 2 hours every week it wouldn't look like it did tonight. But they would start developing characters. That could be a good thing...or you know...not.

To a point...yes. But it was only because they wanted to send the fans that paid for BFG (including for the first time EVER the live crowd) home happy. They couldn't scrap their booking plans for Raven and Brown because Nash couldn't go.
