Jeff Jarrett: Bad For TNA, Bad With Black People
The Ghost of bps21 replied to a topic in TNA Wrestling
1. Homicide would be great for TNA. 2. Killings is by far the most useful part of 3LK -
I really can't say enough about the Spanky/Rave vs. Aries/Strong match. I honestly only came because Styles was there. I'm a huge mark. And although I enjoy Roh and have had a good time at two kind of blah local shows in the past...it wouldn't have killed me to miss it. Then I watched Roderick Strong become a friggin superstar. This performance by Strong was incredible. So good in fact...that the biggest compliment I can give it...is that AJ vs. Cima almost touched it. Strong for champion.
-
Anyway...this RoH show was the best of the 3 I've seen live. The Embassy vs. Generation Next tag match was OFF THE CHARTS good. So good in fact, that the Styles/Cima match (which was really good) failed to top it. Cabana/Gibson was really good as well. The 4 way was suprisingly solid. Reyes/Puma was a fun little opener. Homicide/Generico and Takagi/Daniels were alright. I mark for hometown title changes...and the rare Joe loss...but the match was kind of just there. I blame Nigel.

Hell. Motherfuckin'. Yeah.

If you haven't read the spoilers for the next impact I guess there's some spoilers in here. At least for the AJ/Petey match...but honestly we all knew it was going to come down to Joe/AJ anyway. So...another TNA ppv is nearly upon us. They seem to have reached a steady pattern with these ppvs in the last couple months (RE: Since Dusty left). You've got your look good on paper matches, your looks like it's going to be bloody match, your storyline match involving a storyline that no one cares about and even less people don't know how it's going to end. And given who's not on the card yet (the tournament losers) I'd expect there to be the spotfest match thrown in also. Now that I think about it...the one thing this show doesn't have is a title match of any kind. hmm...They really better put over the X Cup as something special. Anyway...here's the card as it stands: The Great: AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe It has the potential to be the best match that TNA has ever had. Actually it has the potential to blow away the best match TNA has ever had. It's going to get some time to play with...and if you thought Joe was getting a good push before...wait till he chokes out Styles with Tenay screaming about how he can't be stopped. The Very Good: Christopher Daniels vs. Aries/Lethal/Strong/Sydal I think Aries is winning the vote and I love the concept here. It's non title so I'd expect Daniels to win but for Aries to look really really good in defeat. As much as I like the guys in the upper middle part of the X division (Sabin, Williams, Shane) they've been around and in the mix for so long. Aries is perfect for joining the division that is topped by Daniels/Styles/Joe. A good showing here (combined with Joe totally being awesome) should open the door for not only Aries, but possibly other RoH guys as well. Hell...look at the top 2 matches I've listed here They're all RoH guys. Let's get some Homicide already! The Good: Jerry Lynn vs. Sean Waltman Say what you want about Waltman...but unlike some ex-superstars that TNA has taken in (Shamrock, Hall) Waltman puts his boots on. He put in a nice performance filling in for Jeff Hardy against Raven, and then topped it last month against AJ. Plus...Lynn's back after a LONG time off. Throw in the history of these guys breaking in together and I think this one looks good on paper. Subject to falling apart...but good on paper. The Slightly Better than Average: Team Canada vs. AMW & The Naturals I like 8 man tags. What can I say. There's alot of talent here that is good at getting hot crowds and putting on fun (even if they're not neccessarily good) matches. That's perfect for what TNA is asking of this match I think. Roode, Williams and Young are all better than the AMW and the Naturals. I just decided that. AMW really should have turned heel months ago. The Trainwreck in waiting Main Event for this month: Raven and Sabu vs. Rhino and Jeff Jarrett I'll say this: Raven/Abyss wasn't bad last month because they took it violent and it looked like nothing else on the show. Problems this month: Instead of violence they'll let Sabu do his stupid spots. Oh yeah...and Abyss is totally better than Rhino and Jarrett...and Sabu is a liability. I know some people liked the little Sabu/Rhino match at ECW ONS...and I did too...but I don't think it should be main eventing a ppv. Anyway...Jarrett shouldn't either. I think it's obvious that they're heading towards Raven/Jarrett II (or III if they do it next month and then have a stipulation match) at Bound for Glory. That I'm fine with. But Jarrett really should be doing something other than dominating the main event storylines until then. This is what keeps getting them into trouble. The Lance Hoyt test of the month: Hoytamania vs. Abyss They're finally giving Hoyt his shot at a big time singles match. Abyss is really good. Hoyt is really...popular. Another important match for Hoyt. Has Hoyt won a match since he started getting over by the way? I think this will be alright...but Hoyt is running out of places to go very quickly. The same old shit: The 2 Live Kru of Konnan and the terribly underutilized Ron Killings vs. Kip James and the even more terribly underutilized Monty Brown BG James is ref. He'll turn on the Kru when they get TV. Until then they're just burying everyone with this crap. After that...there's a lot of regulars in the X division that aren't getting play here (Sabin, Shane, Shelley, Shocker, Dutt) so they'll throw something together. How about a simple, yet effective Shane and Shelley vs. Sabin and one of the other guys X division tag match. Thoughts, Predictions, Comments...all here

I agree with Michrome. It is a tad bit annoying that Joe/Styles only got 15 minutes and a ref bump. Take out the needless Daniels interference and add 5 freaking minutes. Shocker/Shelley was really fun and unique. Aries/Daniels was pretty much perfect for what they had to do (Daniels has been beating everyone clean...and as much as they gave Aries all his offense...he's not contracted and he's not heading into a high profile match with Joe next month). Obviously with more time they could have had a really great match...but they used their time perfectly. Lynn/Waltman, to me anyway, was really good. As much of a scumbag as Waltman is...he's earning his keep out there. I didn't think anything was really bad (That a boy Hoyt!) but the number of matches the new booking team feels the need to squeeze into one show is really hurting the chances of anything being must see blow away great. 10 minutes for Aries/Daniels I understand. 15 minutes for Joe/Styles is unacceptable. Unless they go back to them for a legit show stopping match (which they've now teased to the TNA audience that they can do) the allotted time is a disapointment. But...Joe chocked him out...so I'm pleased. When Joe defends the title against him and beats him again...even better. I can't imagine anyone who ordered tonight...regardless of their motivation...not being down to order Joe/Styles II. And maybe that was the point.

Oh and here are my predictions: Jarrett and Rhino win...because Rhino is jobbing next month...and then Jarrett faces Raven at Bound For Glory (winner to be determined by power struggle) Joe chokes out the poster boy. (MOTYC if they give it any time BTW) Daniels wins because that's his thing. (Will annoy some because it could be better than it will end up being if Aries was a regular that they wanted to be a star...but hey...maybe the lopsided vote makes it so). Waltman beats Lynn to set up a rematch. (You don't base a feud on years of history and blow it off in one night. Waltman hasn't even won a match since his return. Of course...I think Nash lost every match he had too) Shocker beat Shelley. (And it sucks because Shelley rules and Shocker kind off doesn't. But the face always wins this kind of thing. Unless they think outside the box and turn Shocker (STALE) heel as a result of losing...) Team Canada beats AMW And the Naturals (Can we turn AMW heel already???) Hoyt beats Abyss. Probably a huge upset. But Hoyt never wins. Kip and Monty beat 2 Live Krew. BG still aint turning. Yawn. Team Diamond beats team left in the dust X divisioners. Who cares. Should have been the Lethal/Sydal/Strong debut as pissed off vote losers looking to make a name in the division. I understand TNA wanting to put over there own guys...and I do like Diamond/Young and to a lesser extent Skipper...but they aren't even close to Lethal/Sydal/Strong. Why push the crap when the shit is ready to go?
-
Said it before...saying it now...will say it after Sunday. If you are one of those who complain about no alternative... AJ vs. Samoa Joe Daniels vs. Aries Lynn vs. Waltman Shocker vs. Shelley AMW & Naturals vs. Team Canada Abyss vs. Hoyt Go fuck yourself.
-
I have no idea what they promised these guys...outside of the winner faces Daniels. I just figure that they offered them all a payday.
-
I just look at what you are saying and can only equate it with someone wanting a piece of chocolate and instead finding a hundred dollar bill... and throwing it away because it's not chocolate.
-
If this lineup (Styles/Joe, Daniels/Aries, Lynn/Waltman, Shocker/Shelley, More X division wackiness...) is the result of throwing things together... Then I implore them to never spend a day pre-planning an event again.
-
tnawrestling.com has now stated that Shocker vs. Shelley will indeed take place at the show. There first match was alright, there second match was kind of blah...but at least they both have one fluke roll up on each other...so this is kind of a blow off to the feud that never was. They also say that a match with Sabin, Shark Boy and Dutt will be added on Friday (which is when voting for the Daniels match ends) so I expect to see a 6 man with the 3 losers (Strong, Sydal and Lethal...except it people) joining in. If you are one of those people who is looking for a real alternative to the WWE...and has complained that TNA has not provided that while trying to market themselves as that... AJ vs. Joe is the epitome of that. On top of that (which is just flat out going to be great) you'll get Daniels vs. Aries, Lynn vs. Waltman (I can't imagine it's just me that finds this interesting), Shocker vs. Shelley, an X division spotfest, and 8 man with guys that are better suited for it than an actual match and the Sabu/Raven/Rhino/IDon'tBelongHereJJ main event spectacle. But...you know...Great American Bash had JBL vs. Batista and OJ vs. Benoit... So..yeah.

I'm going to buy it today. And before I do I just want to say that it PAINS me that there is no NFL 2K6 coming out. Fuck this noise.
-
Hogan and Angle next week. Wow...thanks for showing up in Pittsburgh tonight folks.
-
Is there anything that I'm supposed to like about John Cena? He's a terrible wrestler...I think his gimmick has been stale for over a year now...His promo's are crap... Why is he the most popular wrestler in the company?

Has Pennington started practicing yet? They have a new offensive coordinator...and that shit takes time to get down.

Jeff Hardy coming back; plus Internet DREAM match
The Ghost of bps21 replied to Astro101's topic in TNA Wrestling
You can vote now. It's Lethal, Aries, Strong and Sydal. I voted for Aries not only because I really want to see the match...but because I think he has the best chance of landing in TNA full time. They show you the current results after you vote. Aries way ahead so far. -
Sin City on DVD soon...
The Ghost of bps21 replied to LivingLegendGaryColeman's topic in Television & Film
I'll be renting, burning and waiting. -
Hell if I know. I just know they needed to change something. All you can do is hope I guess.
-
I'm only stating it because it is so ridiculous. But Bledsoe has been sacked and pressured constantly behind everyline he's ever played behind. He makes them so much worse than they are.
-
Replacing one statue with another a QB isn't going to help Dallas. Besides, I think they'll have problems early on with the 3-4 defense. They also could help themselves by not getting torched for 49 points against the Eagles again. Pinkston is not that bad of an injury, Greg Lewis can easily fill his role. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Bledsoe won't get tired in the 4th quarter like old man Testaverde did. The Cowboys were like the 1st or 2nd ranked team in 4th quarter meltdowns after leading the game. Bledsoe will be playing behind the best line he could ever hope to have (aside from that '97 Pats line). All of the new and old guys on the Dallas D are all familiar with the 3-4 and the 4-3. Unlike the Raiders, these guys don't appear as though they'll have much trouble understanding the 3-4. Plus, they have the personnel, i.e. talet, to pull off the 3-4 defense. Agreed on the Lewis deal. Almost every WR in Philly aside from TO is interchangable I think with one another. No one stands out except for TO. I just think too much drama has gone on for that team to keep it's collective head in the game. But hey, maybe they'll prove me wrong here. It's not like they don't have the talent to make another run at the SB. 6th time is the charm I guess. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I just feel the need to say it... Bledsoe was sacked less times last year than in any year in his career. He had a running back emerge as a force, and a rookie WR who added 9 TDs. He also had the #1 Special teams and the #2 Defense in the league. Still. No. Playoffs.

Jeff Hardy coming back; plus Internet DREAM match
The Ghost of bps21 replied to Astro101's topic in TNA Wrestling
The Daniels thing is intriguing. I'll bet that Roderick Strong will be on the list as he has worked TNA before (and I think he lives in Florida if I'm not mistaken). Austin Aries should be on there too since I've read somewhere sometimes (I'll be as vague as possible since I can't credit a source or anything) that TNA was interested in him. It's kind of hard to figure out how they'll do this legit since they'll need to have a handful of guys cleared to work that day...with no guarantee of using them. It's a cool idea anyway. Oh...and a big second to why the hell TNA hasn't used Homicide. -
Before this get too out of hand with the "What TNA is doing wrong" line of thought... I'd like to give a big shout out to what they are doing absolutely right at the moment: Samoa Joe. Seriously...they've taken talented guys like Shelley and made them GOLDYLOCK'S BITCH in the past. But Joe...they are making into a star...by...get this...lettting him friggin wrestle. Now it's obviously not going to be the 20+ minute match...but then again...at Sacrifice it probably will be. Samoa Joe has been used better than anyone TNA has used since they started. Including AJ who is more or less there golden boy.

I don't know about that. Whenever I tried to sell people on watching "Firefly" I usually got a bizarre puzzled look and either "I don't like westerns" or "how come there's no aliens"? My favorite is when people actually try to argue the show isn't realistic because its set in the future, but they still use guns and the ships travel at sub-light speeds (as if phasers and warp drive could really exist). Apparently I need smarter friends. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes. Yes you do. I've managed to hook about 10 people on the show so far.
