OSIcon is pretty much hitting the nail on the head.

If this one doesn't fall through I'll expect to see Storm (because he's the only one they've worked with before) and McGuinness (because he's in the country I think). The other two will be a crapshoot as TNA calls every indy promotion asking for British guys. Odds are we'll get Chad Collyer and Matt Stryker doing British accents. Which I am totally fine with by the way.

Jarrett Victory in Mexico causes riot
The Ghost of bps21 replied to OldSchoolWrestling's topic in TNA Wrestling
The full story says that Abyss helped him win. Meltzer said in one of his updates last weekend that they were planning on doing a big angle where they bloodied up Antonio Pena and then they'd show that on TNA (since Pena is the Team AAA leader)...maybe they did that and it helped incite the crowd. -
The One and Only Angel Season 5 Thread

If she was a better actress I may have been able to buy her character changes. But I never could. In 7 years I never bought her character progression because she was far and away the worst actor in the Whedonverse. -
It's not that we love Storm...it's just that he's the only British guy TNA has used...and was the Great Britain representative in the Super X cup tournament. So far...all of the people from the foreign brackets have been the captains of their teams (Juvi- AAA) (Teddy Hart- Canada) (Nosawa- Japan in the 3-3 match a couple weeks ago).

Agreed. I don't know what TNA was thinking. It would be a different story if there was an actual plan in place that was going to require them to have talent working weekends...but there is not. Until that day comes when TNA runs enough dates and pays enough to be a full time job for their talent...they should shut up and go back to figuring out how to make that happen. Then we'll cross this bridge when we come to it.

All that is fine in theory...but other than Punk in light of their not booking him...no one is going to tell TNA to fuck off...they're just going to politely decline.

Jarrett Victory in Mexico causes riot
The Ghost of bps21 replied to OldSchoolWrestling's topic in TNA Wrestling
That's the part I'm having trouble figuring out myself. I can't imagine there are 18,000 mexican wrestling fans that give a shit about Jarrett...let alone that they could manage to get them all in the same place at the same time. My theory is that they didn't like an outsider coming in and beating one of their guys. Which is good for AAA...because they can make a lot of money on a rematch. It's kind of like AAA beating team TNA in their home arena...only there wasn't 18,000 people watching...and no one cared. -
I love this guy. He is the master of self promotion...and has created himself as the biggest heel on the internet.

The One and Only Angel Season 5 Thread
The Ghost of bps21 replied to Steve J. Rogers's topic in Brandon Truitt
That's the great question that there is no truly definitive answer too. We are told by the First in season 3 that it was the power that brought Angel back. He accepted that as fact and it was never mentioned again until the finale of season 7. If you think about it in terms of the two shows...The amulet that brings the first down in the end was given to ANGEL to use (although in season 5 of Angel they are less forthcoming with that as fact...and instead playoff that maybe Spike was the intended party all along). For all intents and purposes...the First brought Angel back. -
Hey...I wonder if this is why Abyss suddenly decided RoH wasn't for him after the RF stuff. It's not like he was a key player or anything...but a paycheck is a paycheck...and he was quick to decline further work.

Given the way they spend their money...I don't doubt that they would do so. The problem isn't financial...TNA goes through Panda's money like water anyway. If they stopped booking BG James they could give his money to Styles and he'd never have to work again. The problem is that AJ prefers working for RoH over TNA. That really must bother Jarrett...and is probably yet another reason this happened. So far I'm up too (in no particular order of importance): 1. TNA now sees RoH as competition. A competition that they flat out aren't going to win in terms of how they do business both in the ring and out. 2. TNA is walking on egg shells around these TV people, going so far as outlawing the word "damn" on ppv. I guess it's not impossible that someone thought the RF scandal cast a bad shadow over everyone connected in anyway to RoH. It doesn't make it accurate...but I can see them thinking it. 3. They're pissed he likes RoH more.

Jarrett Victory in Mexico causes riot
The Ghost of bps21 replied to OldSchoolWrestling's topic in TNA Wrestling
I read this last night and had a good laugh. I don't really know how to respond other than that AAA fans really care about their product. The report said there were 18,000 fans there and they weren't pleased at all. As soon as Jarrett drops the NWA title, AAA would be wise to book a rematch where Latin Lover goes over. They'll draw a huge gate for that. Other than that...it makes me wish TNA would have their X Cup filmed in Mexico in front of a huge crowd. -
I figure TNA has wanted Styles to stop working for RoH ever since he started...since they are the only other really well known indy out there... and they took the opportunity of the RF situation to see if they could get him to bite. I in no way imagine they ever would have even asked Punk who is not only on the outs with TNA after the Teddy Hart incident...but had his contract worked out with the understanding that he had full control over his bookings since he's a bigger star everywhere else. TNA looks at AJ as their top guy...and they've never been comfortable with him being a big star in RoH too. At least that's my guess.
-
I will however...take this as a sign that things are actually moving in a positive, forward direction for TNA on the important expansion front...and let this thread get back to it's natural course...
-
Well...I think TNA was way out of line. RoH doesn't run anywhere near the south...so they aren't competition. Until TNA gets TV and starts trying to run house shows...whatever their talent does on non-Wednesdays should remain none of their concern.

Some TNA News From The Powell Report
The Ghost of bps21 replied to BoboBrazil's topic in TNA Wrestling
They'll ask him back shortly. Whether he wants to come back is up to him. My guess is that they're "making an example" out of Punk to let everyone know that they have to act extra proffessional while Fox Sports is evaluating everything. If they weren't on edge over this TV thing...I bet nothing would have even been said past "Don't do that, please". -
Some of those people aren't counted as full time regulars though. The people under contract do. All of the people we see every week have contracts (except maybe David Young). Low Ki can't have one because Zero-One doesn't release their touring schedule far enough ahead of time...but they book him whenever they can. Guys who tour with other Japanese companies (Daniels, D-Lo) do have contracts. I'm not sure if the Naturals do or not...probably not. El Leon no way, Dustin Rhodes, no way (I think he's going on Zero-One tours too actually), Slash and Sin I don't know.

Well...if Fox Sports is the reason they are concentrating on more match time and less crap...than I say THANK YOU Fox Sports. I wonder how many people they'd have to add to have a regular 40 man roster. It sounds intriguing.

Maybe another month. So...Johnny Storm and...???
-
I guess people aren't buying into Marvin Lewis' Bengals. They pursued Sapp and Troy Vincent hard...and both ended up going to teams with worse records last year. Sapp may have gone for the bigger signing bonus...but the Bills and Bengals had pretty much the same offer out there for Vincent

They're only having round 1 this week. The two semifinal matches are the next week, and the finals the week after that.

Benoit is 'just a transitional champion'...

Confidential also says the NWA title is in there too. They say a lot of things on Confidential. -
Benoit is 'just a transitional champion'...
The Ghost of bps21 replied to Use Your Illusion's topic in The WWE Folder
WWE makes up their own title lineages as they go along. I can accept the WCW title lineage being in the Raw title. It was put into the Undisputed title...and if they claim that they pulled the "World (formerly WCW) title" out of it again and handed it to HHH...that's fine. The problem isn't that...it's that the WCW title didn't have much meaning after WCW was sold to WWE. Pulling it back out and handing it to a guy didn't exactly make its stock rise either. But I don't see why it wouldn't keep the lineage intact. The NWA title into the WCW title is more complicated. The NWA was still a governing body...and still had say over their titles...just as they do now. When Flair jumped to the WWF the NWA title was declared vacant for the first time and Chono would win it later That is where the clear break from the NWA lineage to anything else ends. According to the Wrestling Title history archive thing ( http://www.wrestling-titles.com/nwa/world/nwa-h.html ) the NWA at least considered continuing it's business with the WCW title when Luger won the vacant title...but they don't acknowledge it today. The NWA lineage is in Jarrett's belt. The WCW lineage is in Benoit's belt. The WWE lineage is in Guerrero's belt. You can make the argument that the WCW lineage is also in Eddy's belt...and that Benoit's only goes back to when Bischoff handed it to HHH...and that's fine too. I can certainly see it that way. -
Again...based on what? 2 WWE guys that were released since TNA opened nearly TWO YEARS ago are on the permanent contracted roster. TWO.
