OAO 76th Academy Awards Thread
The Ghost of bps21 replied to Kahran Ramsus's topic in Television & Film
I spend many hours praying that the overrated crapfest known as Return of the Shit will not win best picture. However, I think it was predetermined 3 years ago that they would give the award to the final movie. For the love of Godfather 2...(and I suppose an argument could be heard for Silence of the Lambs)...don't let this sequel win best picture. -

It was on as I drove home today too. That's after not hearing it on the radio in as long as I can remember.

They didn't really sign him did they? This has to be a joke. Anyway: "At the Portland, OR RAW, there was talk of doing an angle where Randy Orton would take out Buddy Rose and Col. DeBeers, who were at the show, but it didn’t happen" At least they're still trying to think of a way to try and get cheap heat to stick from town to town.

Banky votes Cavemen. I'm still trying to figure out why people assume the astronauts would get lasers.

The day that we caught Saddam, I watched John Kerry go on every news talk show on TV and run down Howard Dean who liked to ask the question "Where's Saddam?" in response to Bush's efforts to catch him. I knew then that Kerry would take Dean out of contention. What Kerry also informed me of, however, is that he is a man with ideas but no plan. He was certain that the US should have taken out Saddam. But he was equally certain that he would not have gone into Iraq without the U.N. This always bothered me...because I don't remember Bush or anyone saying "No guys, I know you want to help...but you stay here". I don't remember telling France and Germany to sit this one out. But Kerry...for whatever reason, thinks that he could have gotten them together before we went in. Now...I've been waiting for a question to be asked since that day. I wish someone would ask it...because I think Kerry's head might explode if he was forced to figure out the riddle that he created. If we HAD TO go in and take out Saddam as he said that day...but we HAD TO get the U.N. to go in on it with us... What would you do if the U.N. didn't want to go? To me, Kerry comes off as weak. and Bush, who I always thought was weak, actually looks strong in retrospect and when compared to Kerry. I think the democrats should consider sitting this one out. They've been making Bush look good for a couple years now...and that's the strangest campaign tactic...

Playing Goldneye is the type of thing (for me anyway) where I sit around thinking about how much the game kicks ass...and I get all excited and dig out the cartrige...and pop it in... And within 15 minutes I go play something else.

I just ordered one. If I were at the mall and I saw that jacket for 40 bucks...I'd have bought it. So I saw no reason not to here.

Wait...didn't all teachers do this? ... I mean...everyone elses teachers must have done this too... ... It's not so bad...

Goldeneye was a great game...but lets face the fact that it is also like...5 years old. It's been surpassed as a FPS many times over...and as a Bond game as well.

They weren't old demons from before man...but they were pure demons...and didn't like the half breeds (Vampires are demons in human bodies) -
Here's the official announcement: "February 27, 2004 - Publishing giant Electronic Arts today officially announced the first details of Goldeneye 2 (which we reported on two days ago), a game in which players will experience Bond like never before -- as a evil, drop-out 00 agent. Gamers take on the role of an agent who's dismissed from MI6 for reckless brutality, and who then subsequently joins the ranks of the criminal underground. Joining up with super-villain Auric Goldenfinger, players battle for control of the world's greatest criminal organization. After patting EA on the back for its high critical marks for the recently released James Bond Everything or Nothing, John Riccitiello, EA's president and COO, said, "And we're not done yet -- today we're announcing that we are developing GoldenEye 2 (working title), a game where players become the ultimate villain in the Bond universe." Under development by EA LA, Goldeneye 2 will appear on multiple consoles (no specific ones were revealed, but we suspect GameCube, PlayStation 2 and Xbox), and is due this holiday season under the EA GAMES label. "Everything or Nothing's success continues to showcase the enormous strength of our collaborative relationship with EA and Danjaq," added Travis Rutherford, senior vice president of MGM Consumer Products and Interactive. "We look forward to continued success with this fall's release of a new chapter in the Bond saga and the creation of another blockbuster franchise in GoldenEye 2." Expect to learn more about Goldeneye 2 around E3."

Also...just in case anyone is interested and didn't know...you can read the unfilmed script for a Firefly episode on the net. It's a legit script written by the writer of "War Stories". Joss said at the ComicCon thing in December that it wasn't filmed because they weren't ready to go where the script was going yet...and plus...you know...cancelled. You can find it here: http://www.fireflyfans.net/feature.asp?f=45

SHOCKING NEWS!!! Buffy/Firefly writer Tim Minear's new show Wonderfalls: "-- Lastly, in a move that will undoubtedly surprise no one, FOX plans to broadcast its midseason drama "Wonderfalls" out of production order. The show's 11th produced installment ("Karma Chameleon") is currently scheduled to air as the series' second episode on Friday, March 19 at 9:00/8:00c." The new Fox Ad campaign: Fox. We don't learn lessons.

There's a bunch of little things about Inara/Mal.' - In Serenity part 1 where The camera shows Mal look at Inara, and then Inara turn her head to look at Mal, but he's already looked away. - In Bushwacked where Inara is being questioned by the Alliance guy about Mal, and he asks "And you love him?" And there's a beat before it cuts over and you realize he's now questioning Zoe. - In Our Mrs. Reynolds where Mal walks off to talk to Saffron and says "The way I see it we have something in common. We're the only two that don't find this funny" and the camera stops on Inara to see that she doesn't either. - In Out of Gas where she says "You want me" and then theres a beat before she clarifies "You want me on your ship"

What I enjoy most of all...is that this show ran where Firefly would have had Fox not cancelled it to make room for...new programming. -
You will eat the Pudding Pops...or I will destroy you like your name was Lisa Bonet!

Yeah I know. But no one made a mock up poster for that...so I'll take what I can get. I named my dog Serenity...so it's good enough for a movie, says I.

Another thing that really stuck me with repeated viewings was how great I thought the girl that played Inara was. She was always so calm and measured about everything...only having emotional outbursts when it related to Mal. - In Our Mrs. Reynolds when she thinks Mal is dead, then finds he alive. - In Our Mrs. Reynolds when she snaps at Mal as he ponders having a pack of kids running around. - In Heart of Gold when she finds out Mal slept with the other whore. With the rest of the crew she is comforting and everything you'd expect a Companion to be (with Book in Serenity part 2, With Simon in Out of Gas) Only Mal can really break her down. She even tries to use reason with Early...but that doesn't get her too far.

Did you notice in Ariel when Wash and Kaylie are searching the dump...what Wash throws when he sees the medical vehicle? If I didn't know any better...

I don't think Grady Little gets enough blame. Unlike the first group you mentioned...you can look at what Little did...and see the exact moment where he didn't do his job properly. No biggie though...it was only the most important game that his team had played...in a long, long time. Football is harder to judge. 99% of the coaches work is done in between games. They should be able to get the in game stuff right. But as we've seen...for some reason most of them can't.

The first Raven/Douglas match was actually better than you'd think going in. That was Douglas working the crowd to the point where if he had beaten Raven...I think some of the crowd would have jumped the railing. The second Raven/Douglas match (hair vs. hair) wasn't as good...and featued Douglas throwing up. I rather like the New Franchise group...and I think TNA has gotten a lot more out of Douglas than I would have thought was there.
-
Corey's 100% right. The reason the 3LK vs. New Franchise match didn't suck to the level it should have is each person in the match played to their strength and didn't try doing things they couldn't do. Konnan stood on the apron (which he is quite good at) for most of the match. Since Konnan is always over...his hot tag worked well. They also had Michael Shane bumping for him like crazy...which we can all agree is better than having Shane Douglas try to bump for him. Shane bumped. Douglas and Truth carried their parts by doing less actual grappling...and more "hey...we're both kind of over and good at working crowds...let's try that". The staredown mid match between the two had the crowd really going.

Because...honestly...they can't call it Americas anymore. Unless the intention was "The America's" which would include the U.S., Mexico and Canada... But that's not what they meant. I think it was called "America's X Cup" because an American won the Super X Cup tournament (Sabin). Mexico, Japan, Canada and England were also represented...so I think that's why it was called America's cup. But now AAA holds it...so I'm going to call it Mexico's X cup until they lose it. ANYWAY... "TNA's Team Canada will likely consist of Teddy Hart, Jack Evans, Harry Smith and Petey Williams. They will have matches against Team Mexico which will consist of Juventud Guerrera, Hector Garza, Abismo Negro & Mr. Aguila. Their matches will be taped for the 3/10 TNA PPV. TNA seems set to feature lots of X division matches on their once a month taped PPVs. Credit: PWInsider.com" I assume it'll be the same format (which I actually found interesting). But what makes this cool to me is the fact that none of these guys are TNA wrestlers (at least not anywhere near regulars...with only Juvi making more than a couple appearances). For some reason that's just cool to me...and makes the idea of the X Cup seem a little cooler to me.
