Wow...I'm shocked some people didn't understand what I wrote. Smallville. Uses. The. Exact. Same. Formula. That. Buffy. Was. Using. Eight. Years. Ago. The only real difference is that they develop things much slower...and Lex Luther is WAYYY cooler than anyone that was on Buffy.

Eddie Guerrero speaks on Title Victory
The Ghost of bps21 replied to MillenniumMan831's topic in The WWE Folder
I can't put into words how refreshing and just plain AWESOME it is to have someone fresh (that actually earned it...therefore preemptively ruling out the future Orton title run) at the top. I'd also like to say how great it is to have a kickass young champion like Brock Lesner who can actually be pinned by a guy half his size and not sell it as a fluke (he was still in the ring KOd while Eddie was celebrating around the ring). Of course they'll be doing the same thing on RAW soon. You know...with Benoit over HHH. It's not like there's any stupid stipulation or out of place former star to stand in the way of creating a new star on that show too... Oh wait...that's exactly what's happening. People complain about the lack of star power on SD...screw that. SD is the only place where they could even attempt to make a new star (And it's not only working with Eddy...but Cena as well. I'll even add Big Show who's been used SOOOO much better since the switch. And Chavo and Rey Rey sure got some time Sunday didn't they? And there was even a build for a CRUISER match!). Of course RAW has Evolution. -
Damnit,Kanyon Has A 90 Day No Compete Clause
The Ghost of bps21 replied to BoboBrazil's topic in TNA Wrestling
No that's been in contracts for a long time. It's just that only TNA meets the requirements now. We were talking 90 day no compete clauses for the guys released before Raven like Mike Sanders and whoever else got fired that week (there were a bunch of people) -

It ships tommorow, so it probably won't be on shelves until Wednesday morning. Unless your local game store is close to the shipping center...which mine hardly ever gets them the night before. Only for the real big releases like GTA and Madden will my game stores stay open to sell the night before. So I'm waiting till Wednesday.

Damnit,Kanyon Has A 90 Day No Compete Clause
The Ghost of bps21 replied to BoboBrazil's topic in TNA Wrestling
I guess so. Which makes sense. In theory. It's just so weird since TNA and WWE are so far apart...and hell...a guy like Kanyon hasn't been on WWE TV in forever anyway. I understand the concept of not wanting a guy showing up on the other show...but TNA isn't even that. Raven didn't have to wait 90 days...I wonder why that was. -
I'm getting into Smallville now. But as a Buffy fan...I can't get out of my head how bad this show wants to be Buffy. They may as well call the show "sunnydale" with all the monster of the week episodes that run through the first season (at least). Instead of the hellmouth...they have Kryptonite. But both do feature teenagers with incredible power who have to keep their secret from everyone. They both have two nerdy friends too. Oh well...if you're going to mimic a show...it's best it be one of my favorites.

Damnit,Kanyon Has A 90 Day No Compete Clause
The Ghost of bps21 replied to BoboBrazil's topic in TNA Wrestling
The no compete clause (I read this when Spanky got cut) has only meant TNA for a while now. He can go compete in any other indy. It's funny that WWE and TNA both have contracts that in one way or another mean "can't work for the other guy". With TNA you can work for anyone but WWE when you sign. For WWE you can work anywhere but TNA for 90 days when you are released. -
Ring of Honor has secured a national distribution deal for their DVDs with the same company that will be releasing 6 Combat Zone Wrestling DVDs in the near future. The DVDs will be available in national retail and online outlets. The first release will be the April 2003 "Epic Encounter" event headlined by an awesome 42 minute Paul London vs. American Dragon Best of Three Falls bout with Dusty Rhodes, Christopher Daniels, Homicide, CW Anderson, and The Backseat Boys among those on the undercard. I still do not have the name of the video company confirmed, but I do know that Kevin Kleinrock, formerly of XPW is involved with them. I am sure those of you who followed the independent wrestling wars in Philadelphia last year will see the same irony in that as I do. The company also approached Major League Wrestling prior to MLW shutting down operations, although MLW decided not to sign on. ROH's first three shows will be released on DVD shortly on a national retail level as well by a different DVD company which is involved with the release of the Florida Championship Wrestling DVDs that have hit the market in recent months. ROH's first show "The Era of Honor Begins" (February 2002) is expected to hit stores within the next month -credit pro wrestling insider

The One and Only Friends and Frasier finale
The Ghost of bps21 replied to Steve J. Rogers's topic in Television & Film
Friends I don't like. Fraiser I haven't watched in a long time...but the best episode I saw was the one where they were at the ski lodge (I think) and everyone was trying to sleep with everyone. HI-larious. -

No Way Out ratings, opinions, and other stuff.

Are we now saying that No Mercy was good? Because I'm not on board with that train. -
Oh OK. I remember now. Actually Giunn beat Donkiwari that night. The funny thing about that night is, that's the night Mesi somehow became a "power puncher" because he destroyed Williamson after the first two fights went long. Every since then HBO has talked about his KO power...a power that he only really has over tomato cans.

Oh...and the problem with the ref bump wasn't the idea of it...it was Brock having to walk over to the ref to do it. The telegraphing of the spot is what killed it. -

The Ghost of bps21 replied to Downhome's topic in The WWE Folder
The only thing I didn't get about the main event was that both guys were selling like they'd been wrestling for 20 minutes...just FOUR minutes into the match. That was odd. Other than that...best WWE match I've seen in...*goes off to think about it for a while* -
I don't know Gomez from anything more than reading his name in places.

So I guess this adds to the #3 weirdness with Dale Earnhardt. Remember after he died the next 3 races had a crash on lap 3? Well...now he and Jr. are the 3rd father son to win the 500... And he won his first 500 3 years after his father died on the track...and he died 3 years after he first won it.

I've followed Mesi (obviously since I'm in Buffalo) and I've seen some Jirov... I don't think either guy is likely to knock the other out...and both will stand and throw....with neither being especially commited to or good at defense. There's a good chance that fight will be exciting...and it's on the undercard of the bigger and more exciting Mosley/Wright fight! March 13th should be a great night for Boxing on HBO.

He ran as long as he wanted with Buffy. The contracts were for 7 years...and they got all 7. Pretty impressive for a mid season replacement on the WV based on a bad movie

Boston was giving up a $20mill player for a $27mill player The Yankees are giving up a $6mill player, minor leaguer, and now reported cash for a $27mill player. Its ridiculous to compare Fine...then the point is the Red Sox didn't want it bad enough to get the deal done. That deal makes it easier for them to do...and it didn't happen. Instead they let it explode into a media circus and have their two best position players ready to ship at a moments notice.

Back to back big wins for my Sabres on back to back nights. If I didn't know any better...I'd say this team actually wants to make a run at the playoffs. Now...if only the frigging Islanders would stop winning. Or Montreal...maybe Montreal can keep losing.
