I'll give you this... It defies all logic that Orton is not slowly but surely gaining heat. ...that's a KIND of positive...isn't it?
-
Yeah, tonight against Billy Gunn. Someone find something positive to say about the Ass Man... now that's a challenge. He's not Orton

Chris Sabin vs. Juventud Guerrera Jerry Lynn vs. Aguila Sonjay Dutt vs. Hector Garza Elix Skipper vs. Abismo Negro Jerry Lynn and Sonjay Dutt vs. Juventud Guerrera and Abismo Negro Chris Sabin and Elix Skipper vs. Hector Garza and Aguila Elimination match: Jerry Lynn, Chris Sabin, Sonjay Dutt and Elix Skipper vs. Juventud Guerrera, Aguila, Hector Garza and Abismo Negro According to the observer site the last two weeks, the singles matches were disapointing compared to the semifinals and finals of the Super X Cup, partly because 3 of the 4 AAA guys had to fly from Japan to Mexico to Nashville and were drained. It'll be interesting to see how the matches are...I remember before the Super X Cup I had heard only that the last three matches were good...and they turned out better on TV than I had thought they would going in. This is from the observer site about the tag and elimination matches: "I've now heard from three different people who are at the TNA show last night. For next week's show, the two tag team matches of AAA vs. TNA were said to be solid, but the final match, and unfortunately half the crowd cleared out before it started, which a long eight-man elimination with Mr. Aguila & Juventud Guerrera & Abismo Negro & Hector Garza vs. Sonjay Dutt & Jerry Lynn & Elix Skipper & Chris Sabin was said by two people to be one of the five best matches in the history of the promotion and a third said that when it was over, some fans in the building said they were going to buy the PPV next week just to get to see it again." All in all...it should be fun to watch.

Clinton Portis fails to understand
The Ghost of bps21 replied to The Ghost of bps21's topic in Sports
No...he can't. When you sign a contract the only thing you are guarnateed is the signing bonus...which has been paid to him. The point of the contract is that his rights are owned by the club for the life of it. For the 4 years that he signed...he has no right to walk away. The club can terminate whenever they feel like it, because they have already paid the player the guaranteed money. So...if Portis wants to hand back his bonus money...then he would have an argument. -
The One and Only Angel Season 5 Thread
The Ghost of bps21 replied to Steve J. Rogers's topic in Brandon Truitt
Yes. The thing in the tank is a big button with the word "Cancellation" on it. Such drastic measures have been taken to stop the threat of Firefly as well. -
The Bills will probably hire Sam Wyche as QB coach in the near future. I read at the Bengals site that he's having a tryout this week to see how his voice will hold up under constant use.

The One and Only Angel Season 5 Thread
The Ghost of bps21 replied to Steve J. Rogers's topic in Brandon Truitt
I liked the episode where Spike and Angel fought better than this one. That one ended with Lindsey showing up. I'm sad to see him go. -
I read it when Dames put it up. You and I seem to agree alot on what's going on. Here's my question for you: Are you surprised that of all the people on the roster, AJ Styles seems to have picked up on how to work Dutch Mantel's story driven matches more than anyone else? Mantel has booked Abyss, Apolo and Legend regularly in Puerto Rico...but it seems that Styles has been the fastest to adapt to Mantel's slower "more emphasis on the reason you're doing something" method. That handicap match just doesn't work at all if Styles doesn't completely buy into it, then go out and put on a show. There have been storylines running through all kinds of matches lately (Diamond/Swinder/Young/Gilbreti, the XXX storyline running through all their matches, Redshirts, everything Kid Kash does with Siaki/Lynn/Trinity/everyone else)...but only Styles has succeeded in making it look effortless and not forced, IMO. Thoughts?

No...the injury happened in the last match in the X Cup. The 8 man elimination match. The X Cup is in the can and ready to run next week.
-
I agree with this a thousand times over. Problem: There's no way in hell that Goldberg is jobbing to anyone on the roster.

HHH...he's not Orton HBK...he's not Orton Bradshaw...he's not Orton A-Train...he's not Orton Big Show...he's not Orton Orton...I've got nothin
-
Then I officially recommend that one.
-
I would go for the Monday Night Wars. If only to see WWE revisionist history at work. Is one of the matches on that Austin and HBK vs. Owen and Bulldog? Or was that a different DVD?

Clinton Portis fails to understand

Go for it. There's always an interesting topic to talk about. Hell...for my team the offseason is always more exciting than the actual season. -

So...if he does end up holding out...does he have to give back the rest of his signing bonus? I mean...the bonus is for the contract...and if he doesn't want the second half of the contract...shouldn't half of the bonus be paid back to the team? That's how you prevent this. If Portis wants to sit...let him sit, take back half his bonus and let him not play for the last 2 years. I bet no one ever holds out again. -
Doing my duty as a Democrat, to try bringing down
The Ghost of bps21 replied to Rob E Dangerously's topic in Current Events
Well...Kerry isn't going to beat Bush. I look at Kerry and I see the most painfully average politician in the world. Dean was too crazy. No one cared about anyone else. I think Edwards could probably stand up the best...but I also don't think that Bush is going to lose to any of them. Edwards in 2008. -
The NFL is appealing...but I hope Clarett wins. No one beats the NFL...so...go Clarett.

Clinton Portis fails to understand

Bingo. He basically signed a contract for 1.29 million dollars (his bonus). What he makes per year is just gravy. It all balances out at the end of your career when you're washed up and getting paid too much based on past accomplishments. Furthermore...having your rookies under affordable contracts is about the only way teams can still run under the cap. -

BUFFALO IS NOT MOVING ANYWHERE. THEY HAVE LOCAL OWNERSHIP FROM A BILLIONAIRE. THE NHL PURPOSELY HELD UP CHOOSING AN OWNER FOR A LONG TIME TO KEEP IT IN BUFFALO. ENOUGH WITH THE SABRES MOVING ALREADY.

I still maintain that the heavyweight title can survive the retirement as long as Kitchsko wins it. He's the people's champ right now anyway. I think they'll be fine if the guy everyone thinks got robbed last time ends up with the strap.
-
I couldn't tell you. I haven't been there in some time. It really depends on who they decide to have him fight...and whether he can get by Jirov. If HBO and Showtime want to work together again, Tyson/Mesi would do big business at the Ralph...and probably on PPV as well. Clean Cut good looking white heavyweight vs. Tyson. It would draw the people that still want to see Tyson destroy somebody...and it's probably the only big name guy that Mesi would have a shot with. But...who knows about his chin? Tyson looked strong enough in the first round of his fight with Lewis that Mesi could hit the deck early.
-
Mesi's career is already a success. The guy isn't going to be heavyweight champion...but he's made a lot more money than most boxers do...let alone white heavyweights. If he can get to the third fight with HBO and he headlines a show at Ralph Wilson stadium or Dunn Tire Park...his career will have been far more successful than they could have hoped.

Should I bump the thread from after week 8? This is week 80 of new programming by my count.

That is true. After the Scarecrow got his brain in the Wizard of Oz, he was the mayor of Emerald City in the sequel Return to Oz.
