And I agree with you. ON EVERY OTHER MATCH. Not this one.
-
So...despite the fact that they've been running a storyline with Shane Douglas for 2 months predicated entirely on his hatred over Raven trying to win the NWA title... You'd just scrap it in favor of a match that wouldn't have had nearly as many great near falls at the end from Styles? I'll pass.

Unless people are going out and having epic ***** matches... Interference in a match like that...where the entire storyline is about a group of people trying to keep Raven from winning is just plain old necessary. What made it great was Raven overcoming so much of it and that putting heat on both Raven (for overcoming them) AND Styles (for overcoming as well) before Raven finally fell victim. Not only did it build next week's main event right out of it...but it was the story of the match. This wasn't Raven's destiny time. That storyline will come later. When did we become wuch elitists that something as basic as a HEEL using a bat (Styles/Low Ki) becomes a "Screwjob"? Screwjob? SummerSlam 97 was a screwjob. Siaki and Trinity running in and hitting finishers during every Dlo/Styles match is more of a screwjob. A heel using heel tactics is not. The main arguments I hear against this finish are the bob barron standard "Makes AJ look weak" which is ridiculous in this case since Styles actually had to kick out of like 3 falls that should have taken out ANY heel. The other is just the standard belief that interference ruins every match. I've never believed in that one...at least not since Over The Edge 98 when Foley and Austin had a classic based almost solely on it's overbooking. If you want to complain about the finishes of the 6 man (No contest), Dlo/Siaki (even though that was a relatively clean for a heel win), Sandman/Abyss (Storyline driven, with the KAsh/Abyss story taking presedence over the Sandman match), or Lynn/Shane then I'm with you. But this match going in was all about Raven having to overcome all odds to win. He almost did, and that made the ending great. They also worked shockingly well together before that IMO. Styles looked stronger coming out of it than going in, Raven is more over as usual, got to see a good match... If I saw that in the WWE I wouldn't complain about who ran in...I'd understand WHY they did.

Flair was the weakest booked champion ever for most of his career. -

Do you realize (directed at everyone) that the way the main event was booked... Styles looked stronger than he has since winning the title by far? With all the interference backfiring, Styles had to kick out of like 3 finishing sequences that should have ended it. -

My game has been delayed by a day due to FedEx being stupid motherfuckers. -
So next week will be the X tournament and a cage match. Too soon for a cage match IMO...but it could explain why Jarrett and Daniels aren't on the card today. And if they are going to say...here's a cage match...I'm not going to say no. The last one (D-Lo/Styles) was disappointing anyway. With a pretaped one...they can't run out of time.

From Meltzer: Tonight's line-up: *A.J. Styles vs. Raven for NWA title *Dusty Rhodes vs. Glenn Gilberti in bullrope match *Chris Harris & James Storm vs. Simon Diamond & Swinger for NWA tag titles *Michael Shane vs. Jerry Lynn for X title *D-Lo Brown vs. Sonny Siaki *Sandman vs. Abyss *Konnan & Ron Killings & B.G. James vs. Shane Douglas & Sinn & Slash TNA is working on a two-show win streak. The AMW matches with Diamond & Swinger have been good every week, and the X bout looks good on paper. Main event should be heated and good. Rhodes vs. Gilberti should be very short. Also, they will be taping both the semifinals and finals of the X division tournament (unconfirmed, but the semis at last word, and this could change, were Chris Sabin vs. Frankie Kazarian and Teddy Hart vs. Juventud Guerrera) which airs next Wednesday. They will also be taping a cage match main event, which I believe will be on that show. So we should have a lot of stuff tonight.

I agree completely. It's just that people don't want to see that with Goldberg. In fact...during the chamber when he killed everyone...that was about the only time people really were off the hook for him. Good thing the booking put a stop to that.
-
Right. Except the only time Goldberg drew money was when they used him the exact opposite of that.
-
In other news... It took Goldberg and the rest of the locker room to prevent HHH from coming out and destroying RVD and many other stars just to prove he could. As a compromise...RVD was kept off of RAW and HHH only laid a verbal burial on all.

Did I miss a memo where Dusty vs. Disco was the only thing on for two hours? Damn...I'm usually on top of those things.
-
Well... Abyss better squash Sandman because they did a real good job pushing him as a monster last week. And I bet the 6 man isn't too bad. Konnan always has his one good minute of work before getting blown up (funny story...when he entered the ring for the gauntlet there was the 90 second countdown clock...so we timed how long it took for him to get blown up...One minute exactly!). James blows...but Killings looks good standing next to them, at least. The three title matches look good.
-
I'm going to have to postpone it until after the show...(It's technically not a preview...REALLY!) because I got real busy last night when I was planning on doing it. The next one will just have to cover last week and tonight then preview the Super X cup.

This thread is lame. If you play with one controller for long enough it will be the easiest for you to use. I've played with the XBox controller for so long now that I found Socom to be unplayable with the PS2 controller...and I used to spend HOURS every day playing it. It just happens.

Alright, I'll set you back to zero... write down your current post count so that if you change your mind we can just add it back on.

*takes offense* ... No

I didn't say he should be on SS because he's black... I said he should be on SS because more than half the card was made up of people who couldn't lick the shit off of his boot.
-
I thought they used coach because they somehow managed to leave every other black person on payroll off the show. It's sad that when Booker goes down they don't have anyone to replace him as the token black athlete. I mean...sure they have the best young wrestler in the company and co-tag team champion Shelton Benjamin...but apparently he's not SummerSlam material like A-Train, Shane, Bisch, La Resistence...
-
Oh he's far less anoying than Vince or Shane
