Why doesn't he try doing more serious movies more often? Bill Murray realized that his time of opening huge comedies had past him...and he turned what he had into a career that at least garners a decent amount of praise for his straight roles. And where in the hell do these movies keep coming from? A few of those movies would never have been made without Murphy in them...why does he keep picking things that don't exactly smell like hits (and by now he has to realize his name isn't going to open something weird like Meet Dave). Although...Norbit made money...so maybe he has a point.

Fair. But you have to admit there is something extremely strange about this guys views being directly opposed to the overwhelming majority of his peers for 3 movies of the same genre in the same summer. Which was my point.

Depends on what your looking for. I personally prefer Batman Begins...but I can easily see why people (even a majority of them) would prefer Iron Man. Iron Man was just pure fun, and I'm glad it did big business and was a critical success. Batman Begins is more my taste...but for a summer movie especially...Iron Man was perfect fare.

I can honestly say with an over four month sobriety period in my pocket that I had no earthly idea that this movie existed. I know stupid little things about almost every facet of pop culture...how is this possible?

Which movie was Showtime? I think I was thinking of Metro when Showtime was mentioned. What the hell is Showtime?

See...I think that having a big name actor DOES get the movie an increase in ticketsales. I just don't think that it's enough to justify giving them credit. Did Kung Fu Panda make more money because Jack Black had his name on it? Sure. Would the movie have been a hit without him? Sure.

I can almost see it working better in reverse. Ooh..I kinda like the animated movies...and this one's got a martial arts panda...but I find Jack Black annoying so I'll pass.

I just don't think anyone saw the poster for Kung Fu Panda and said "ooh...the new Jack Black movie!"

There's a couple negative reviews on rotten tomatoes now, one of which is from a top critic. The best part is seeing his take on comic book movies. He gave Iron Man a rotten rating...and Hancock a fresh rating. I think his negative review only excites me more.

On the Dark Knight: I'm going on Midnight Thursday and then already have plans to go again with people who can't make that showing on Sunday.

I've always had a real hard time believing that animated movies should be counted as box office hits for the actor's who lend voices. for example...Disney Pixar now has a long list of hits under their belt...and I don't think Wall-E even has a big name (if it does...I didn't hear of it)...so in 3 years when they come out with a movie about a pig who can fly airplanes with his wacky duck sidekick played by Denzel Washington and Johnny Depp...am I really supposed to believe that movie made money because of the A list actors? Or that they deserve credit for the big opening?

I just think there's a MAJOR common sense difference between crediting what the main selling point of...say...Meet Dave was (it's an Eddie Murphy movie) vs. what the main selling point of Shrek was (it's an animated summer kids movie).

I hate when actors get credit for animated movies that provide voices too. Will Smith got credit for Sharks Tale in another thread...and I didn't even know that he was the voice in that movie. I'm sure the millions of kids that the movie was aimed at didn't either. Shrek and Dreamgirls would have been hits without him.

I just wrapped my head around exactly how many songs are going to be available by the time Rock Band 2 ships. *Blows mind* I built up a pretty nice collection of Rock Band tracks since I got it...and I'm glad those will be playable in RB2. Add to that the entire RB1 track list from the disc itself...and then this new tracklist for 2. ...and the 20 free songs that are coming at launch. ...and continued DLC for 1 until release...and then 2 after... My goodness. There is a metric TON of songs to play.

I think what excites me most (on top of the obvious new GNR) is that Talking Heads got some love. I'll cross my fingers for some extra Talking Heads downloadable tracks in the future.

I didn't really care that the one bat shot took him down...because a bat shot should... He shouldn't have played it like he was out COLD though. Some writhing around in pain would have been a better sell. But yes...there WAS the glimpse of the bad ass asskicking Joe that dominated the X division and everyone who got in his way when he first came in. And that is a definite positive.

I totally agree with one idea there. If TNA didn't overbook EVERY main event match (with the exception of Joe/Angle at Lockdown...which is why it stands out) the ending last night would have been wild and I think people would have been really interested in where they are heading. But they DO overbook every main event match...so it came off as a worse than usual ppv ending. We'll see what happens next and then I'll decide how I feel. Right now I feel like I wouldn't be put off by it if someone had just rung a bell at some point.

Team Japan finished tied for last place in the X Cup. ... That makes all 3 World X Cups they finished at the bottom. Damn it Team Japan...get your shit together for 2010.

I don't really know what to say about the main event. The thing that ticked me off is why in the world was everyone coming out to tell Joe to stop...when the match was never ended? Shouldn't the ref have been calling for a bell if Booker couldn't continue instead of trying to get Joe to stop in a match that is still ongoing? As far as I understand the way wrestling works...Joe did everything right there and then got attacked by a woman, refs told him to quit in a match he was winning, security ran in, and then KO'd by Sting and a bat. The announcers played it up like Sting was in the wrong...which I at least agree with.

Well...I don't think Booker's going to win. I think the show should turn out pretty good just because all of the matches are loaded with good workers... But I think Booker's losing. It's one of those problems that TNA has from time to time with the title picture. They like long title reigns for the World title (which is a positive)...but every once in a while they find something that gets over more than I think they're planning on (witness Monty Brown years ago, Joe for a long time before they pulled the trigger, and now heel Booker) and they aren't flexible to changing their plans. I think Booker's the best thing going in the company at the moment. He comes accross like he's a level above everyone else (which he deserves a boatload of credit for...since he was "just another guy" literally a week after joining the company). However...I think TNA's plan is for Joe to beat him...which works for Joe proving himself...but I kinda just want Booker to be champion right now

I'm completely torn on the Main Event. On one hand, it's probably too early to take the belt off of Joe...and he should definitely be one half of the BFG main event in October... But...man...Booker has just been freaking great lately. And I always prefer a heel champion. I think Joe will win...but I think I might be rooting for Booker. ... The rest of the show looks like we're gonna get 3 solid hours of wrestling. If they can keep the nonsense endings to a minimum...this should actually be a hell of a show.

NHL 08 I just love everything about the way this game plays. It challenges you to play an actual hockey game instead of just finding the one shot that works.
