To play off the top 5 anything thread: Since January 23, 1984 who was the bigger star... Andre the Giant or Bret Hart?

That period after he won the SD title was awesome. His match with Taker? Just great great stuff. That's what I meant by the machine Kurt Angle matching up with people. I can watch that Kurt Angle against anyone and be excited for the match. Less serious Angle isn't in that league.

I thought the match with Finlay was fine for what it was asked to be...but it had nothing to really do with JBL doing much of anything. Going in I know I was hoping for a stiff brawl...and they went WCW hardcore division instead, which was disapointing. It's been a little while since Mania...and all I remember about the match is JBL hitting Finlay with a trash can lid when he dove out of the ring and JBL throwing a trash can at Hornswaggle.

JBL hasn't had, IMO, even a decent showing for himself since he came back. It's on the undercard so it's not like they'll be dipping heavy into the blood and violence in the match...especially with a cage match on top. That takes away the whole bag of tricks and leaves them working a straight wrestling match. Which at this stage isn't JBL's strong suit. That's more Mania 21 Cena/JBL and less I quit match Cena/JBL.

I don't think most people would. If we're going purely on size of a wrestler's star so to speak... I think the top 5 since 84 (since that what it was) for me would be in no order: Austin, Hogan and Flair would be there. After that I'd probably settle on Rock and Andre...

I also think that TNA's next mistake with Angle is about to happen when they take him out of the title picture (good) and right into a high profile feud with Styles. Now...I'm ALL FOR the Styles feud and have been waiting to see this match since Angle joined the company... But if I had my way they'd spend the next few months with Angle just squashing lower guys on TV and ppv until they do the Styles feud later. That way when Styles takes him to the limit, or even beats him, it would mean a hell of a lot more. Also...it would give Angle short work to do with his bad neck that you know he's going to wrestle with anyway.

It's something that I think has really plagued his career. I think he can be funny and I've been entertained by his comedy (especially in WWE) a lot of times... But one really has to wonder what kind of business he could have done in his career if he'd have been given a serious gimmick as just a straight shooting ass kicker. There's a time and a place for comedy...and the main event isn't it. He's been in and around the main event for like...7 years now and most of that has been as a guy that you KNOW is a legit in ring guy...but outside the ring it's been few and far between on taking him seriously. I think that's the problem when a guy with a natural gimmick as he has can also talk. It's entertainment first in both companies and that's kind of the problem with him I think. I never really got why no one would just stick to him being serious for long. He'd have made the perfect heel foil for a guy like the Rock or Cena with their overwhelming charisma and entertainment level against his pedigree, and when matched up with guys like Austin and Taker you'd look at it like...damn...this is gonna be the shit right here... But instead they kept him at or near the top without him reaching the full potential that he had as a headliner. Then TNA repeated the process. His in ring style has pretty much zero relation to his out of ring character...which I always thought was ridiculous. He's spent so much time playing a goof out of the ring, and then from bell to bell it's all business.

Yeah...I need Bale as my Batman. He plays all sides so well. He can play wealthy. He can play womanizer. He can play revenge. It's the first Bruce Wayne I've liked. Every other movie I just waited for him to get in the suit...but I found his Wayne in Begins fascinating.

The two best ppv buyrates TNA has gotten both came during the brief times that Angle was just ass kicking Angle and not comedy Angle. You'd think they'd know what to do with him. You'd THINK. People totally bought into Angle vs. Joe when he first came in because it was take no shit, headbutt to Joe, asskicking Angle. Then they managed to get it back by having Angle cut serious promos and just destroy people for a couple of weeks. That's all it takes. Just let him go be the guy that looks like a machine and more people will pay to see him fight someone.

Your point is still valid though. It took as long as the next news day for the story to come out about Roxxi being all about getting the shave. It could be true, of course, as I seem to recall her having to grow her hair out in the first place...but still...it didn't take long for the information to try and take heat off of TNA.

Off any real topic but can I just say that it's completely awesome that the first line in this thread is "In one month - Wednesday, September 22nd - at 8:00, a new show will premiere on ABC called "LOST". " That's really sweet. This has to be the best thread for a TV show that exhists in this forum. It'll go from before the first ep all the way through the finale with timely comments on every single episode if you wanted to use the dates for reference. Thumbs up to the Lost thread.

For Bruce Springsteen just go see him live when he's around your town. He's one of the people that I think is so good live that it'll get you into his music easier.

I'm at 95% and am slowly killing birds and doing stunt jumps for the last 5%. I really should have done them as I was going through the story to make it more fun...but I wanted the stupid achievement for beating the main story in less than 30 hours. Oh well.

If I have this right...Gail Kim can't get her head shaved if she loses in the ladder match part...so the last person out of the battle royal would get their head shaved... What they should do is have whoever was the last person eliminated from the battle royal make sure Kim wins the ladder match if she makes it to that part. Then they'll have been directly responsible for the other girl getting her head shaved and you have an insta-feud. That would at least be a way to use the stipulations to the match's advantage.
