Atlanta up 17-7 in Green Bay. What's going on with the Packers?

This thread doesn't make any sense now.

Western Carolina? Scrub 1-AA team? Your woeful lack of familiarity with the proud Catamount tradition in beautiful Culowhee is showing, friend. Culowhee is located in a dry county and is noteworthy only for its KFC, which boldly advertises something called "Gizzards Wednesday." Commonly heard questions in Culowhee include "What the hell is a catamount?" "Where can I get some booze?" and "Why didn't I instead enroll at either UNC Asheville or App State in Boone?"

The Titans cut Chris Simms today. NOOOOOOOOOOO!!! (They're expected to resign him next week, however.)

Gators up 17-7 in the third, but this has been a really uninspired performance. Is this team putting it on autopilot between big games or what? I expected a much better showing coming off of that embarrassing loss last week.

Sure, but these girls belong with their male equivalents. I'm thinking of someone along the lines of the two guys who talked my ear off for fifteen minutes at work the other day about condoms, claiming that their dicks were too big to fit in no LifeStyles. These people go together like geese and ganders. A lot of dudes have a low opinion of girls because they only associate with girls who are dumber than they are. They're intimidated by smarter girls and therefore won't approach them. Me, I can't date no dumb bitch. She doesn't have to be a Rhodes scholar or anything, but she's at least gotta be pretty good at Scrabble.

Nah, Sarah Silverman is funny. That show she had on Comedy Central, now...that wasn't funny at all. The girl I was talking about earlier kinda looked like her, but without the big flared nostrils. Anyhoo, yeah, "intellectual equals." It's tough, because girls often aren't encouraged by either their parents or society to be smart. Intelligence isn't regarded as a feminine trait. So you gotta go with either Asians or feminists. If you can nail an Asian feminist...jackpot.

I think a lot of you are associating with the wrong sort of woman, see. You need to find girls that are your, uh..."intellectual equal," if you can imagine a woman being such a thing. The post Dave just made is the worst thing I've ever read on this forum. I don't know if I can post here anymore.

Not true. She was actually pre-lesbian when I associated with her. She was just a really cute, smart girl who also happened to be funny. We had the same sense of humor, was what it was. We'd get together and it'd be a big old laughing party. I do see the broader point about men being funnier than women, however.

I have this one sweater that is my favorite article of clothing. I don't know how to describe it other than that it's tight, it has some vertical stripes, and it has superfluous button holes on the sides. Wearing it out one night led to me using the only pickup line I've ever used on a girl. Have I told this story here before? Probably, as it's one of the few fleeting moments of triumph in a life otherwise full of indignities. Anyhoo, I go up this girl...Allison. Kinda looked like Sinead O'Connor in the "Nothing Compares 2 U" video. Cute, pixieish, short hair. So I say to her "Hey, how are you? I was just wondering what you thought of my sweater." And she thought it was funny and told the story whenever she introduced me for the rest of the time that I knew her. Alas, I came off very poorly on a subsequent date and was never able to nail her. But I've still got the memories. And I've still got the sweater.

Painting with a pretty broad brush there. One of the few people I've known who could make me lol on a consistent basis was a girl. And a feminist. And (eventually) a lesbian. Girls are funny, too; it's just a different kind of funny. More of a slapstick, "baby's dingdong in my mouth" sorta funny, rather than the sort of dry humour you Brits are accustomed to.

Haha. This kind of stuff can happen anywhere, but when I see a headline like "Mom Fellates Toddler, Sends Pictures to Friend" I immediately think "Florida." I think it's the combination of moral bankruptcy and practical stupidity that does it.

Around the time of SummerSlam in '98, I remember seeing a big display of wrestling action figures at the public library in Manassas, Virginia. They were set up to simulate matches at that show: Triple H and the Rock on a ladder, Undertaker and Austin, etc. That was sort of a sign to me that the thing had reached critical mass. Nine months earlier, you couldn't buy an Austin t-shirt at the mall.

In other news, the Bengals today announced the signing of Travis Henry...

Here here. My two big periods of wrestling fandom were from '90-'94 and then from '97-'02, and this period of WWF stuff in '97 and '98 is by far my favorite to look back on. There was just so much happening: the advent of the Attitude Era, the rise of Steve Austin, the fall of Bret Hart, the initial stages of McMahon's heel character, DX, The Rock, the Montreal stuff, Tyson at WM, the whole Taker-Foley Hell in the Cell spectacle, etc. Even dumb stuff like Kane seemed pretty riveting at the time. And with the WWF trailing and then pulling ahead of WCW (which I always hated) in the ratings, I had this feeling of having been on the right team the whole time. Though I continued to watch for another few years, I never cared as much about wrestling and was never as genuinely excited by it as I was by the WWF in '97 and '98.

Noah Fentz to the subject of this here video. I got nothing against the guy:

The Bengals signed Cedric Benson today. There's a high-effort, high-character guy to help set a good example for the rest of the locker room.

Yeah, it looks like benching Bulger was a pretty horrible coaching move by Linehan. Probably cost him his job. Lane should come work with his dad in Tampa for the rest of the season. Having two offensive geniuses on staff is better than just having one, right? Plus, he could see what a functioning NFL franchise looks like.

1. Dallas. 2. St. Louis. 3. Indy. The early bye week will help them work out the kinks. 4. Matty Ice and DeSean Jackson should be in the conversation. 5. It's not a single injury, but the multiple injuries at WR for the Seahawks has made that team look like a bit of a mess. Shawne Merriman going down hasn't done the Chargers any favors. Richard Collier losing both his leg and his ability to walk gets an honorable mention.

I'm suddenly optimistic about the game in Denver. Brian Griese's familiarity with the oxygen-free high altitude of Mile High should limit his interceptions to around the 3 or 4 area.
