The Statue of Liberty play won the game. You can argue that the Boise St. highlight didn't deserve to make it that far, but if you're going to include a highlight from that game, that's the one. They replayed that nauseating Favre-trospective thing that his wife narrated from the MNF game against Denver a few months ago. Other than that, I've had no problems with the Favre retirement coverage on ESPN.

We had two 8 win teams in the playoffs a few years ago. Surely that feat will not be matched.

So this is what it sounds like when doves cry.

Behind Rodgers, they've got Craig Nall and someone called Dalton Bell on their depth chart. So they clearly need to acquire a QB with some experience to back Rodgers up and then draft a guy. David Carr may not be in the league next year, he was so bad in Carolina. There's almost no market for Culpepper right now, so he wouldn't be particularly costly. It just seems like a better move to me. EDIT: You know what, the Bucs play Green Bay next year. I'm with Agent. Sign and start David Carr.

David Carr is awful. Leftwich or Culpepper would be better additions, in my opinion. It'd probably be wise for them to use a 2nd day pick on a QB.

Maybe Gruden could talk Favre out of retirement in a few years. I wonder how tethered Rich Gannon is to that CBS gig.
-
There's speculation that the team's unwillingness to make a run at Randy Moss might have pushed him towards retirement. I don't understand why the team would mortgage their future by giving Moss a huge contract just to appease a guy who strings them along every offseason. This is a team that took the eventual SB champions to overtime in the conference championship. They have no glaring need at wide receiver. It just wouldn't have made any sense.

So I guess Favre is retiring. Good thing or bad thing, Packers fans?

None of you will ever be successful because you're all terrible.

I trust that you'll watch it many times over. Tell a friend.

Oh, but I am. I am your biggest fan, don't you see? Everyone that got an invitation to reply in this thread is special to my heart.

My messages were all personalized. Venkman got the most special message of all.

Oh, man. I'm blushing.
-
Sure, but what isn't?

Thanks a bunch, bro!

I hear we might eventually make a play for Lito Sheppard. If we can get him or DeAngelo Hall, that would take a lot of pressure off of whoever we draft at CB. The cupboard's looking bare right now.

Don't patronize me.

That Browns D-line should be ferocious next year. Brady Quinn can continue to heckle gay fans from the sidelines. Donte Stallworth can do his annual disappearing act.

His entire posting history is contained within the "Chris Benoit Dead" thread. His existence is the real tragedy.

That's a 2009 pick for Griese. If nothing else, this move makes Chris Simms and Bruce Gradkowski expendable.
-
Who the hell is Bix?
-
Well, he doesn't like young players at QB (except for fucking Bruce Gradkowski, for some reason) and the coaching staff as a whole seems to have no ability to develop wide receivers. Off the top of my head, I can't think of one WR ever drafted by the Bucs who has gone on to be anything better than decent. The latest example of this is first round bust Michael Clayton. I don't know. Whatever. I still say we're winning the Super Bowl next year.

This will not be the thread to end the pursuit. I won't stand for it. I'll post fifty times if I have to.

I just know we're going to sign Warrick Dunn, too. We're going to blow all that cap room on old guys who won't contribute. Re-sign Jeremiah Trotter! I bet Lynn Swann could still go.

The FO apparently didn't want to get into a bidding war for his services. This was almost certainly not going to happen, as the guy's been a failure everywhere he's been. Griese apologists in the Tampa fanbase point to his pre-injury 5-1 record as a starter in his last stint here, but fail to remember the circumstances that led to that--which is basically that the teams we beat were all awful, like the post-Moss Vikings, the Dolphins after Ricky Williams retired, etc. I've been willing to give Gruden and Allen the benefit of the doubt with the slow start to the FA period thus far, but this particular move makes no sense to me. A stable of mediocre, AARP-eligible QBs is not the way to succeed.
