And the Rams have the talent of a winning team, they just got fucked by injuries and probably don't have the right coaching staff. There's something to be said for certain teams just operating better under the constraints of the current system.

There isn't a chance in hell that anyone wins the MVP other than Brady. And, yeah, the opening piece with Favre's wife was nauseating and Kornheiser does not seem to know how to praise someone without just ramming it down your throat for four quarters. At least the object of his affection was actually involved in the game this week. But the TD pass in overtime was awesome and it's not that hard to imagine Green Bay being the lamb led to slaughter coming out of the NFC in January.

I'm a cook/waiter at the moment. I actually work on that block, across the street from Schoolkids Records. I went out to a kind of hip bar on Saturday night (no one even mentioned the monumental Georgia victory over Florida earlier in the day) and didn't really have such a great time. And I had a ferocious hangover. It felt not worth it somehow.

The thing that makes Colbert and his show not just funny but actually above criticism is that he would use your saturation argument against you. Imagine a faux hard news piece involving a sponge.

I enjoy his show a lot more than "The Daily Show."

I've always considered this song unnecessary at the end of The Queen Is Dead, but the title pops into my head a lot.

Yeah, I think the luxury of distance and the cheese factor make "One Week" more annoying than, say, the Blondie song "Rapture," which also contains an embarrassing rap interlude. Pre-late-80s stuff rarely offends me as much as stuff that I actually remember.

I haven't heard any Neutral Milk Hotel. Very little B-52s. It's weird...you see all of these impeccably-dressed sorority girls vomiting in the streets at about 4 in the morning. There's plenty of drinking in Asheville, but there's such an undercurrent of hippiedom running through everything...people were too baked at 4 in the morning to be doing anything.

Yeah, it was The Three Musketeers. Oddly, that probably wasn't the low point of anyone's career.

Wasn't there a song with Michael Bolton, Rod Stewart, Sting, and Bryan Adams in some movie? It could well have been Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, but I don't remember.

They plan a lot of REM in the bars here. That seems tacky to me. There are rumors that there's an occasional Michael Stipe sighting at certain bars here. I don't know what I'd do if I saw Michael Stipe, other than mention it here.

I don't know who Chris Coey is. I hear they have good ice cream sandwiches in jail, though.

Barenaked Ladies- "One Week". Hands down, the song that irritates me the most. It's a garbage nerd anthem, that rap portion is atrocious, and it brings otherwise suppressed high school memories bubbling to the surface. Also: The Kid Rock-Sheryl Crow duet, "I Put Your Picture Away." Particularly the "I WAS SPOSED TO DRINK YOU AWAY..." outburst about halfway through. Shania Twain's "That Don't Impress Me Much." Basically anything with a speaking or rapping interlude. "Rockabye." There's a piece of crap.

They're also giving all of our water to endangered fish. Don't forget about them.

Oh, well, my girlfriend is doing grad school stuff at UGA. After the historic week-long Smashing Pumpkins residency in Asheville ended, there was really no reason to stick around up there. Athens is, uh...I don't think I've seen the good side of the place yet. It just seems like it's hot and there are frat boys everywhere and it never rains.

Florida just sandwiched its somewhat improbable BCS Championship win with back-to-back basketball National Championships. That's not bad. I don't see the Celtics beating any of the top Western Conference teams in the Finals, BC isn't getting anywhere near a BCS title, and the Pats are still just seven wins into a sixteen game season, plus the playoffs. It all looks good now, but only the Red Sox are anywhere near actually winning any championships.

Mike Gundy has convinced me to give it another shot.

I'm already thinking about how I'm going to phrase this anecdote once Ms. Skye becomes a huge pop sensation. I'm thinking of leaving out the phrase "Scott Keith's biggest fan."
