    Kinetic's Blog

Man, that shit was seven months ago. Whatever lingering insecurities I had about high school girls has long since passed, thanks to the help of a student directory and about six bottles of sleeping pills.

    Who loves the bears?

"Who loves the bears?" seems like a pretty valid question to me. I was actually wondering the same thing earlier today.
  5. Well, I'll tell you. When a mommy and a daddy love each other very much but the daddy can't impregnate the mommy because he either suffers from erectile dysfunction or is actually a closet homosexual or something much more unsavory, they'll often turn to those suffering from extreme mental retardation to assist them by means of impregnating the mommy. I'm not sure why they do this. In any case, the offspring of this unholy union is often born with hideous physical deformities and with little to no brain capacity, at which point it becomes an avid pro wrestling fan and finds great amusement in posting inane bullshit on message boards. It may also develop an interest in the Grateful Dead.

    Zwan is finished

Well, they had a good run. Now Billy Corgan can finally pursue his true calling and make a series of bizarre prog rock epics about aquatic life. Expect to see Stella, Blowfish of Carpathea in a Tower Records near you before the end of the fiscal year 2004.

An idea to cheer up Dames.

I don't think I've purchased more than a few 2003 albums. My current financial status has me out of the loop altogether, as far as music for now people is concerned.

An idea to cheer up Dames.

The rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated. First of all, you wouldn't catch me on some janky ass boat. It's an outmoded form of transportation, says I. Secondly...no, that's all I had to say.

    Getting high on prescription drugs

Aderol and Dexedrine are the drugs of choice for the speed freaks I know. And travelling to Mexico is highly unnecessary in any situation if all you want is drugs. Every no-horse town in America (and beyond, I'm sure) has loads of pushers who are very accessible. If I were so inclined, I could easily obtain just about any drug you can think of within the hour.
  13. There are Sparks temporary tattoos available on the internet. I'm going the ironic route with my music-related tattoo by getting the "Simpsons" derived Starland Vocal Band tattoo on my upper arm.

    High School Freshman here

Just wait a few years after graduation. That'll give you an opportunity to travel, learn a few things about despair, and most likely develop a substance abuse problem. When you come out on the other side, Uncle Sucker'll make sure you have student loan money coming out your ass.

Round 2 Voting for Folder champions

Am I allowed to vote for myself? If so, I'd like to cast my vote for me, Kinetic, over Zack Malibu, whose contributions to the General Chat folder, while more frequent, are simply not in the same stratosphere of quality as those of peak-era Kinetic. Who is me.
  16. It's pretty strange that so many of you feel that the worth of a song hinges on lyrical content. The vast majority of song lyrics are either incredibly stupid or embarrassingly trite or both, but there's no reason why that should lessen your enjoyment of the song. I mean, if you can't find something to like in the total nonsense of "Louie Louie," then you're pretty much missing the point.

    Are You Cool?

It definitely wasn't me. I don't know enough about wine, nor do I have a computer swift enough to do any sort of quick research on. Had it been me, it quickly would have degenerated into me either making up wine names altogether or trying to shift the focus of the conversation onto King Cobra or Schlitz.

    Are You Cool?

I know, and it tears me up inside. Fortunately, the gimmick didn't really carry his end of the conversation, so there's no need to break out the cyanide capsules just yet.

    Ask Incandenza

I like Sparks to a reasonable extent. Only up until 1982, though, which is apparently the year in which my interest in music ends abruptly. Speaking of which: Why did you spread that heinous lie around Friendster? I have to answer to those people in real life, you know.

    Are You Cool?

I was going to make some snide remark about being cooler than this thread, but things appear to be picking up.

    Ask Incandenza

Will you be my Friendster? I can introduce you to some nice people. We could even be activity partners, if you wanted. Also, how could you even compare Interpol--a massively overrated band with one middling album of Joy Division rip-offs--to Blur, who, though they've gotten considerably worse since abandoning Britpop, are probably one of the top 3 British bands of the 90s?

Seriously is there any Rock respect?

I don't know that MTV sucking is the sort of revelation that warrants starting a thread.

    Help me identify a song

Hey, now. I'll have you know that Poppin' Fresh and the Biscuiteers are on tour as we speak, in a rather prominent position on Wink Martindale's Calvalcade of Stars. Check out Poppin's daily Live Journal entries, if you get the chance. His descent into the abyss of food addiction continues, but it sounds like all of that midwestern bar-b-q is fueling some of his best shows in years. He even brought out the tye-dye EasyBake for "Psychedelic Roll," which he hasn't done since that peyote incident back in '73. I think Eve 6 is on the bill, too, so it's definitely worth checking out.

    Most Underrated Bands.

I think The Kinks are on about the same level as The Who but I don't like The Beatles at all. Beatles > Kinks > Rolling Stones > Who The Who, in my opinion, are a pretty decent band with a really awful lead singer. I certainly have no problem admitting that I enjoy some of their work, but I can't say as though I've ever found any one of their albums to be tolerable all the way through. The Kinks, on the other hand, have about six landmark albums that have stood the test of time just as well as those of any of their more popular contemporaries. But having two songwriters of the calibre of Lennon and McCartney as opposed to one in Ray Davies is impossible to overcome, regardless of how brilliant he was. And as far as the Stones go...they're definitely more important to the development of rock music than the Kinks are, but I just happen to prefer their music.
