OK, there are set plays in soccer every time there's a free kick or a corner. These situations are even called 'set plays'. The coaches develop specific tactics for these situations, with specific spots for all the players involved. There's also plenty of ways the coaches and players can modify their tactic, to try different things in order to get a goal. Wether it's putting on an additional offensive midfielder to put more pressure on the other team's central defense, having players switch sides to throw their opponents off, pull a defensive player more into the midfield in order to win the numbers game in there etc etc. They are not 'set plays' because these changes have to be made on the fly while the game is still going and everything kinda flows together, that's probably why it's hard to grasp for someone who grew up watching Basketball/Football, where the game is interrupted every few seconds/minutes.

Alright, I've been a big fan of martial arts movies my whole life. From Bruce Lee to Jackie Chan to Sammo Hung to Jet Li I've seen my share of great hand-to-hand combat on screen, but this movie from Thailand takes the cake. This features the most incredible fight sequences I've ever seen, and that's without any use of wire-fu or CG effects. This is technique and brutality at its finest. And there's one of the greatest chase scenes ever in it as a bonus! If you are remotely interested in martial arts and thought that movies like Fist of Legend or Game of Death featured great fights, get all this and be blown away! I don't know if or when it'll be released on DVD in the USA, but the movie is available at dvdasian.com and is getting theatrical releases in some western countries (april 7 in France, for example). Since I love asian action movies, wether it's hand-to-hand combat or shootouts, I'm really interested in this flick now. The fact that they copied so many things from other flicks won't bother me. I'd like to read your opinion on it. Have you seen the Dead or Alive films by Takashi Miike? The first two are very good, I think you'll like them. What's your opinion on Miike's work, if you know his movies? I think he's one of the craziest and best filmmakers out there, but he should trim his schedule a bit and concentrate more on the scripts that really have potential. I mean, he creates great movies like Audition, Ichi The Killer or DoA 1+2, but then delivers so-so stuff like DoA: Final. No wonder if you come out with, what, 5 movies a year? I don't support Bayern just because they are successful btw, I live only an hour drive away from Munich so it was a natural thing to support them. But I also root for my hometown squad SSV Jahn Regensburg, who just advanced to the second division this year for the first time since about 30 years ago. Bremen is on top right now, yes. My Bayern Munich is playing awful right now and Dortmund has big money problems and can be lucky if they get to be in the UEFA cup next year. So Bremen's chances are very good this year, they have a great squad. But most of their important players will not be there anymore after this season. Maybe you know their central midfielder Johan Micoud, he's a French international but mostly has to play second fiddle to Zidane there. He's awesome. And their forward Ailton has already scored 18 goals in 18 games this season and would be playing for Brazil if they didn't have their heads up their asses. Yes, the FA cup is still a bit more awesome because of its big tradition and I really love the atmosphere in English arenas.
