Stuff that makes you confused...
Corey_Lazarus replied to Australian Pride's topic in General Wrestling
When two wrestlers are booked so that the storyline calls for them HATING each other...why do they start off with standard mat-wrestling? Wouldn't they break down into a pure fight? -
And also Jerry's bass playing, since there's a definite 50's sounding rock n' roll style on American Psycho and Famous Monsters.

Get their "best of..." album first. It has just about every of their MAJOR classics, plus two new songs (for that album, anyways) that fucking rule. The songs on there are: "Kill The King," "Dread & The Fugitive Mind," "Crush 'Em," "Use The Man," "A Tout Le Monde," "Trust," "Train Of Consequences," "Sweating Bullets," "Symphony Of Destruction," "In My Darkest Hour," "Hangar 18," "Holy Wars...The Punishment Due," and "Peace Sells." I'm forgetting one song, and I think "A Tout Le Monde" comes after "Trust." Good, good intro to Megadeth. My favorite album is actually Countdown To Extinction, because the later Megadeth tunes is when it seems Mustaine really learned how to write great SONGS and not just cool riffs and amazing solo's. Rust In Peace is pretty killer, but most of Peace Sells...But Who's Buying? is bland, generic thrash tripe.
-
Of the newer stuff: "Abominable Dr. Phibes" "Dig Up Her Bones" "Scream!" "Saturday Night" "Kong At The Gates" "From Hell They Came" "Great Balls Of Fire" (yes, a Jerry Lee Lewis cover)

So this little fucker wanted to drum for me and my friend Suzy in our band. Unfortunately, the dude had a major ego, talking about how great he was and how our little thrash metal band would be beneath him, but he'd do it anyway. So I decided to fuck with him today. It's probably not funny to anybody but me and my friend Suzy, but hey, here ya go.

But there is one. And the fact that a less active folder, the Puro folder, has a mod while a more active folder, the TNA folder, doesn't just seems wrong to me.
-
Very well. I stole it from the show "Keenan & Kel," so hey.
-
You're not in MA, you have your own black metal band going, and I don't think you like buffalo chicken wraps.
-
^Yes. There's a new topic every day, which is more than can be said for the Puro folder. If the Puro folder gets a mod, why shouldn't the TNA folder, when the latter is more active? I don't care if the TNA folder gets a mod or not, and people overreacted to Nelly's Bandaid's comments. The constant telling of the TNA folder regulars that they don't need a mod makes them mad, which leads to them acting foolish because they don't get a mod, which starts the cycle all over again.

NECW HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE Michael Sain© vs. "Big Guns" Frankie Arion This match should be really fun. Michael Sain, formerly Syko, works best as the hoss monster destroying the smaller guy, and Arion works best as the underdog trying to prove his critics wrong. I'm glad Sain is champion, but his matches have been pretty crap since winning the title. He's over like grover in Framingham, however, as a HUGE "Syko" chant was started in March when Sain, still under the name of Syko, won a battle royale to become #1 contender to the NECW Heavyweight title. I'd say this match will hit **1/2, if that, but it will be fun all the way. NECW TAG TEAM TITLES Sabotage (DC Dillinger and Eddie Edwards)© vs. Sudden Impact ("Miracle" Mike Bennett and Pat Masters) Sabotage is odd. It's obvious Eddie carries DC, but the two of them work together so well that it doesn't seem to matter. Mike Bennett and Pat Masters aren't great either, but Bennett shows some potential. Basically, if this boils down to Eddie Edwards and Mike Bennett, it will probably steal the show. I don't see this being nearly as good as the Sabotage/Adrenaline matches were, but those were good because they were feuding for months and knew each other inside and out. Maybe **, **1/2 tops. #1 CONTENDER'S MATCH Antonio "The Promise" Thomas vs. "The Golden Greek" Alex Arion I do not like Alex Arion one bit. I find him to be a generic 80's babyface, and that's one thing I don't like about wrestlers at all: when they're generic. The character is generic, the moveset is generic, and Arion doesn't really have a whole lot of charisma either. Antonio Thomas can probably carry him to a ** affair, though, because he's pretty good in his own right. IRON 8 QUALIFIER "Brutal" Bob Evans vs. Ru Starr Ru Starr sucks so far. Bob Evans does not. Evans isn't overly charismatic, but the man knows more about psychology and selling than a few WWE main eventers. This could easily be a good match should Ru Starr, who I believe was trained by Evans, displays nearly as much psychology as Bob does. *1/2-**. Adrenaline (Chris Venom and Brian Fury) vs. Justin Powers and Paul Lombardi Adrenaline are decent-at-best. I've never seen Powers or Lombardi, or if I have, then they're not worth remembering. * tops. WOMEN'S TAG MATCH Sumie Sakai and Sarah Sullivan vs. Hayley Skye and Tanya Lee No Mercedes Martinez means less stiffness. Some Hayley Skye means good amount of ownage. 3/4*. GRUDGE MATCH "The Egomaniac" Johnny Idol vs. Steve King Johnny Idol is very bland in the ring. I've never seen Steve King wrestle, although he used to be a developmental talent for the WWF in the early or mid 90's. King seems pretty charismatic, though, and Idol's strongpoint is his putting over of his opponent. If all goes well, ** match here. Yes, I know. The expected match ratings don't look too good, do they? No, they don't. But still, if you're around the area and not doing something Saturday night, why not stop by? It's just $15, and I guarantee you the atmospher more than makes up for the lack of great in-ring action.

They get rid of the good Redshirt (Northcutt) and bring in the uber-shitty one (Wilson) that they got rid of in the first place because he sucked so bad in the ring. Makes sense to me. This really doesn't seem like an incredibly appealing card...but maybe that's because there are 2 X-Division matches when this is supposed to be a show focused on the X-Division. Somehow, it still turns into the Jeff Jarrett Egotrip Hour with all the talk of his guitar, and whatnot.

I don't think it's that Brown needs to necessarily be carried to a really good match, I think it's just he needs to drop the "indestructable monster" routine in the ring and become a wrestler that is vulnerable, but still dominates. Remember how much the IWC liked the fact that Brock Lesnar was being pushed as a monster, but still sold for everybody to make it seem like they had a chance? Monte should be doing the same. But, if they want to stick him in the ring against somebody that could help teach him, I'd say put him in with Jerry Lynn. He's the most experienced person on their active roster (that isn't FJJ), and could probably teach Monte a few things.

Give me tips for making a wrestling music video
Corey_Lazarus replied to LucharesuFan619's topic in Technology
If you haven't found a song yet, I'd suggest Tool's "Lateralus." I've always wanted to see a wrestling video use it, because I think it could work perfectly. Up to when the first "chorus riff" plays, you could use some slow-motion clips of some of XPW's finer moments, and then...BAM! Kickass riff comes in, and you show some deathmatch footage, or something. -
Judas Priest drove people to suicide by just saying "do it." I think THAT is much cooler. This kinda reminds me of the story of how Dave Mustaine was kicked out of Metallica. The night before James and Lars gave him his bus ticket back to San Francisco from New York, they were in the studio and James and Dave got into a fight. Dave was drunk, as always, and James was like "go ahead, hit me, bitch." Dave goes "okay," and then throws James halfway across the room. Isn't Mustaine a black belt in Judo, or something?

Exhorder. The band that Pantera ripped off terribly. -
If it's anybody that still orders the show, it should be DK. He's a stand-up guy, and knows enough about TNA to be able to still contribute to discussions. However, I fear for Mike, since a lot of his points are always misconstrued as flaming.

1. My Bitch, AKA Voice, I've gone through the whole "losing a friend" thing twice before. This one hurts a little less because it's the third friend I've known that's died, but inversely, it hurts the most because I knew this one better than the prior two. 2. Curry, make the powerbomb joke. Laughter is the best medicine, dig? 3. Yes, Banky, she had MAJOR issues. 4. Frigid, I thank you for your kind words from AIM earlier tonight. It actually meant a whole lot to me. And no, they're not black. Heather, my girlfriend, is the "shower" girl that was in my sig a while back. Pale as a ghost. Her cousins are only tan because they're always outside. White as can be (aside from the tans). And I'm not in Central Mass, but towards Rhode Island. Hell, I'm 10 minutes from Cumberland, RI. 5. IDRM, that is odd. What's even odder, though, is that my sister has had a connection to each and every person I've known, personally, that has died. Outside of family, I mean. Timmay was the nephew of her friend Kelly's boyfriend, Jeff was Timmay's cousin and friends with some of my sister's friends, and Tina is the daughter of one of the people that her friend Regina's boyfriend plays horseshoes with.

Friday, 7/2: I pack all day, because I know I'm leaving for Pennsylvania with my girlfriend and her family after work. I work from 5 to 10:30, which is half an hour past closing, just to clean the place up so that nothing goes bad (the pizza parlor I work at is closed until July 12th). I'm sweaty, smelling like pizza, and I drive home quick for a shower, a change of clothes, and a drink or two. I drive over to my girlfriend's, and we eat half of the pizza that I made before leaving work. Saturday, 7/3: From 7 in the morning until 5 at night, we're in the van driving to southwest Penn. South Fork is the town. We arrive, and we unpack. Dull day, as it was a family reunion for her mother's side of the family, and I didn't know anybody. We set off fireworks at one of her aunt's house, and the baseboard fell over, shooting a few right towards us. Fun, fun. Sunday, 7/4: I spend almost all day in the pool. Three of my girlfriend's cousins - Teisha, Sheraiah, and Angela - climb all over me and I continue to throw them into the deep end. Dull day. Monday, 7/5: I get a sunburn from the previous day's swimming, as I didn't wear sunblock. I usually don't burn, though, so I'm surprised. We spend some of the day in the pool, but mainly stay near the shelter (a roof built in the yard) while a bonfire goes, and then rain pours down for nearly an hour. We go back inside and watch Full House for the rest of the night. Tuesday, 7/6: I spend all day at the pool again, and get WICKED burned. I put on a lot of sunblock, but it doesn't matter. The three cousins are still climbing all over me, and I toss them around, but not nearly as much. It's hard to sleep, because the burns are so bad (and all over my upper back and shoulders, so I can't move my arms or lay down comfortably). I finally end up falling asleep around 2:30 in the morning by holding towels drenched in ice cold water on my shoulders. Wednesday, 7/7: Another van ride, but this one takes 11 hours instead of the previous 9. We ride back up to Massachusetts, and when we finally get back to my girlfriend's house (and her family's, mind you), I call home to notify them that I'm back safely. My mother tells me to call my friend Emily, because she left a message regarding our friend Tina. I call Emily, and she tells me Tina died. She was in the car with her parents, and they were having a bad argument, and so she jumped out of the moving car, and ended up hitting her head on something. She was on life support for a day or two, but there was no brain activity. Essentially, she's dead and not fighting for life. So yes, I know there's been a year without me having to report the death of a loved one, but there you go. Fun week, eh? My skin's so read from sunburn that I feel I should go to a pow-wow, and a friend of mine that I've known for the past 5 years dies.

Monte Brown's Pro's: -Charismatic. The fans seem genuinely into his character, and I can't really blame them. -Natural. He seems damn fine in the ring in the sense that he knows where he is at all times, not just kayfabe-wise. -Gimmick. He's into his gimmick COMPLETELY. He's not playing it off as a joke, like most probably would with this gimmick, but he's making it believable, as if he really IS hunting his opponents. -Psychology. He sells fairly well, has decent timing for someone as green as he is, and most of his moves focus on the ribs (knocking the wind out of the opponent) and the head (knocking the opponent out). -Look. He just LOOKS like a professional wrestler, like an animal that would rip out your heart to get what he wants. He has a killer look to him in the ring, his facial expressions always making sure the fans know he wants to not only win, but brutalize his opponent. Monte Brown's Cons: -Moveset. When Brown was first in TNA, his moveset was quite large. He would hit several different kinds of power moves, and hit them crisply. He would use moves in each match that he'd rarely used before, if ever. Now he resorts to the crossface punches to the ribs, slowing down the pace, and hitting the same spots in every bout. -Finisher. This only differs from the moveset because it is THE move that is supposed to help define the worker. While THE POUNCE is effective in the sense that it can be hit quick and is easy to do, like all great finishers are (Roberts' DDT, DDP's Diamond Cutter, Foley's Mandible Claw, Rock's Rock Bottom, Austin's Stunner, etc.), it is just a glorified shoulderblock, with no real force behind it. It makes sense because his football background is made known to all TNA fans, but it doesn't make sense because for such a strong, "brutal" wrestler (in kayfabe) as Brown, his move is a transition hold. It would be like the high-flying Amazing Red using a body splash as a finisher: it doesn't make sense when the fans know he can use better moves. -Attire. A very small con, but a con nonetheless. His jaguar-striped (as leopards have SPOTS) tights have got to go. Come up with a design that suits him instead of something from an 80's aerobics video. -Promo's. While he does seem comfortable on them, he resorts to using his "catchphrases" too much. He just uses them to end his promo's, and doesn't build to them at all. One thing a great catchphrase should do is have build to it, or at least be spontaneous enough that it catches on. Brown's catchphrase of "and that's the POUNCE........PERIOD" seems too overly forced for him. His promo's when he was first in TNA were eons better, and then he was only a midcarder with no real programs going on. What's funny, though, is that most of the con's are the things that the bookers are responsible for, and not the worker.

I still don't get the ending to Akira. It's a great, great movie...until the ending. The ending is complete horseshit. I was told that Tetsuo and those ghost-children become pure energy or something...what's the common explanation? A movie I was hyped to see and left disappointed? The Crow: City Of Angels. I love, love, LOVE the first one. In fact, one of my top 10 films of all-time. But this movie? Took everything cliché about the "avenging hero" archetype and combined it into barely 90 minutes of footage. Hell, the only DECENT character in the whole movie is Iggy Pop's, and that's only because it's IGGY FUCKING POP. Chock up these to my "disappointed by hype, be it advertisements or personal" list: Die Hard 2: Die Harder (not With A Vengeance, though, as that ROCKS) Alien Resurrection (grew up watching the trilogy, and I get an Alien Queen getting smacked around like a bitch...WHAT THE FUCK?!) Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (basically took everything great about T2 and said "haha, fuck that"; makes me wish they brought Cameron back aboard, so then maybe the script wouldn't have sucked the meat whistle)
