Possibly moving to Delaware or Massachusetts...
Corey_Lazarus replied to therealworldschampion's topic in General Chat
Go to Delaware. Unless you live in eastern MA, don't expect anything remotely referred to as "civilization." -
Gah. Ghey. I hate soundalike bands that sound IDENTICAL to a certain band. See: Holocaust and Load-era Metallica.

I mark for Mr. Show. I need to pick up the DVDs. -
Yeah...used like that it's retarded.

Sounds like a good way of advertising the product as well as boosting some Mickey D's sales...as if gamers didn't already pound down those ratburgers.

Now, I wonder, OrangeGoblin... Because, if so...it would be the greatest movie ever.

Alexi's vocals, IMO, have gotten better because now it's not just generic growling, but the music's been dumbed down. That said, I don't mind the new album too much. My girlfriend loves CoB (YES, LAZ FINALLY HAS A METAL CHICK), but I can definitely listen to the older stuff better. For kicks, check out their cover of Europe's "The Final Countdown."

I like The Rock's movies, save for Scorpion King. I like Doom. I'll be seeing this sometime in the next few weeks, but my hopes aren't too high.

Though he's been banned, I'll try to explain it a little better. We discuss buyrates for the simple fact that the higher a buyrate for a show that WE LIKED (most of us) means that there is a higher chance for a second show of the same style. Discussing the buyrates may be meaningless, true, but it's a discussion, not the discussion. If there wasn't an interest here in the buyrates, then this thread would not have had any replies. The simple fact that higher buyrates generate more corporate interest in producing another show is a decent enough discussion, and had you left it alone the thread would have likely stayed on track about next year's ONS. Mike: Yes, the main event of Sandman/Dreamer vs. Dudley Boyz was just a garbage brawl. But that's the one aspect of ECW that the show lacked until then: the garbage brawl. ECW's initial popularity was built upon the violence, and then the company got respect by having some damn good/amazing WRESTLERS as well to round out the show. And how do you say that ONS was ECW workers doing WWE-style matches? The only match I'd say was WWE-style, in actuality, was Mysterio/Psicosis, and there's a reason for that: Mysterio's million knee surgeries, and Psicosis' injuries throughout the years. It's been a decade since they squared off in ECW, and at least 6 or 7 years since working together in WCW. Of COURSE it's not going to be the same calibre, especially considering both men have aged, their bodies have worn down, and they likely can't do all of the things they used to be able to do because of those. I'd make an argument for Benoit/Guerrero being WWE-style, but Benoit and Guerrero have just toned down their style over the years due to injuries (specifically Benoit). I want to know how Chris Jericho vs. Lance Storm was WWE-style. I want to know how the 3-Way Dance between Tajiri, Super Crazy, and Little Guido Maritato was WWE-style. I want to know how Rhino vs. Sabu was WWE-style. I want to know how Mike Awesome vs. Masato Tanaka was WWE-style. I want to know how Tommy Dreamer & The Sandman vs. The Dudley Boyz was WWE-style. Get my drift?

Here...it's a good blend. You have your metalheads, your punks (few and far between now that sk8ers are growing in numbers), the hardcore kids, thugs (too many of them, really, since this is the suburbs), and a few country bumpkins. Most of the scenesters in my area are quickly dismissed by everybody else because the majority of them know next to nothing of actual music, and the few that do readily admit that most of the bands they listen to are terrible.

Actually, they do. People still associate a promotion with its main base of operations, ie. where they put on the most shows and/or where their offices are. Going to ECW would be going to Philly, going to WCW would be going to Atlanta, and going to the WWF would be going to New York (since MSG is there and all). ...so does that make going to TNA going to Nashville or going to Orlando?

That idea of Mick being all 3 in one match is a bad one. Why? Because it's CARLITO. If it was against somebody that could be seen as a threat in the ring without having to cheat ALL THE TIME, then sure, go for it. But Carlito is booked as a sneaky cheater, so it's a bad idea to put him over that much. And KNK, why the venom towards Foley? He technically didn't break his word, since he retired from full-time active wrestling and comes in for a month or two now and then to put somebody over.

It'd be hard for Disturbed to get sloppy on their songs live, though...considering it's pretty generic riffage. Though they are a VERY good live band (I didn't care for them at all until seeing them live, and then "Voices" and "Down With The Sickness" grew on me). I don't really care at all for "Stricken," and since I haven't bought a Disturbed album yet and just listened to a friend's copy here and there, I think I'll do the same.

I chose DT's Scenes... because of the fact that it was a conception album that was, you know, kinda easy to follow. Petrucci, Myung, and Portnoy wrote great music (as always) and created a hell of a story without the need for LaBrie's vocals (which, as usual, were cheesy as fuck). And Stuck Mojo is rapcore, rap/rock, whatever you feel like calling it, same as RATM. I'd say Mojo did the whole "mixing rap with heavy music" thing better than anybody else, considering, you know...Rich could play guitar without resorting to cheap tricks using a bunch of different distortion techniques.

Technically, Mick's still retired. He's just doing a few post-retirement matches here and there, dig? He's not with the company full-time, just coming in to put over a young talent and then he'll disappear for a while.

Eh...I can sorta see your point about WM21, but, overall, I felt it was probably the worst WM I've ordered to date (and I only started ordering WM with 14). In my opinion, the last match of the PPV leaves the biggest impact on the viewer, so putting a match that has a foregone finish and is likely going to be pretty bland on last is a bad idea. Remember: outside of Angle/HBK, how many other WM21 matches can you remember? I can only remember Angle/HBK and the Money in the Bank ladder match, and only one of those was actually good enough to watch over again (I didn't care for MitB at all).

Seems Nash has really turned over a new leaf and is wholly interested in putting the young guys over. Him saying that AJ Styles could be a big star is not only what the TNA faithful have been saying for the better part of the last 3 years, but also can help him (AJ) get some character going besides "I'm a wrestler, so let's wrestle."

I puked so hard I got a nosebleed last Friday night. That's...that's really it. I can't remember the rest of my drinking stories. Oh, and I toked Saturday night and came up with this long-winded joke about Nicolas Cage naming his son Kal-El, but I'll save you your time and just tell you that the punchline is SuperKal-Elfragilisticexpealidocious.
-
Hrmmmm...having a brawl, and then Nash demands that the World title match start right then and there? A little too ECW, but I like it (mostly because I'm a mark for ECW). Would definitely add some unpredictability to the match (even though we'd be expecting it), and definitely put some doubt as to whether or not Jarrett would successfully retain.

Disturbed is good for what they are, and that's the "aggressive" side of radio-friendly rock. System Of A Down still has their asses beat in every single sense of the word, though: better show, better music, more growth between albums, better lyrics, and better vocals.

Dream Theater's Metropolis Pt. II: Scenes From A Memory. While most people prefer Opeth in the field of prog metal, I prefer DT simply for the fact that I get a feeling of so much more going on. That, and this album is probably the greatest work of musical art to happen since the invention of rock n' roll (IMO).

Thank you, Agent, for being my hero again. Bashing Slayer here isn't too smart of an idea, mate.

Honestly, the more I think about it, the less I care about Jarrett/Nash being the main event...as long as it doesn't go on last. Why? Well, a couple reasons. 1. Jarrett IS going over. There's no doubt about that. All signs point to Jarrett holding onto the belt until somebody that is considered TNA, likely Styles or Raven, beats him for it in a couple of months. Hopefully it's Raven, because he deserves a clean win over Jarrett (and D'Amore would have to be RETARDED to not know that Raven pinning Jarrett would blow the roof off of the place). 2. The match is NOT going to be that good. Jarrett's best matches are with painfully superior workers, or with workers that have such a connection to the crowd that you can look beyond the lack of actual QUALITY of the match and get caught up in its emotion. I still say Jarrett's best matches in TNA were against Killings and Raven (though the Harris match was surprisingly good). Nash...is Nash. He's getting older, he hasn't been that good in years, and...yeah. 3. It's going to be a screwjob finish. Tito is somehow going to fuck over Nash, or there's gonna be a refbump and Jarrett's posse fuck over Nash, or whatever. The final match of the biggest TNA show to date needs to have a happy ending so that the fans can go home feeling some sense of catharsis. So, basically, this leaves one match to finish off BFG: AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels, 30-Minute Iron Man match for the X-Division title. Make it happen, TNA. Make it happen. ((Oh, and push The Truth back into the main event for good, dammit!!))

Didn't the words "under God" only get added to the Pledge of Allegiance in the 50's to help differentiate the States from the Soviet Union?
