What kind of music kick are you on?

Depends. If you just started listening, and you're in the Danzig-era...then yes. You should slap yourself for never having heard how amazing the REAL Misfits were. Now, if you're in the Graves-era...it's all meh, save for a handful of songs, really. And of those songs, only one or two really hold up to the Danzig-era. In fact, the only bad tune from the Danzig-era is "Come Back," IMO.

Worst Excuse for a Face Turn

Wasn't there a skit where Saturn was eating crayons, and then said something to the effect of "the purple ones taste like pizza," or something even more ricoculous?

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

I thought it was "meh." Not into musicals, didn't know it was a musical heading in, and then I hoped it would be a musical in the vein of Newsies with some song-and-dance numbers here and there...but it was one big song-and-dance number. I just couldn't really get into it. A couple of the twists were predictable, and I gotta say that Sascha Baren Cohen was the best part of the movie...like he has been in every movie he's been in thus far.

Second night of Impact/Xplosion spoilers (Ongoing?)

Despite him using that philosophy being a major reason WCW fell in the ratings as far as they did in 2000, and live attendance plummet.

Worst excuse for a heel turn

And then 'Taker as a heel was actually entertaining. Started busting his ass in matches with Jeff Hardy and RVD. The Hardcore title bout at Vengeance vs. RVD was actually really fucking sweet, IIRC.

The Story of XTREME PRO WRESTLING

Nah, not the dumbest. You ever seen Sullivan's booking of WCW in between Russo's stints? Much worse than XPW. At least XPW had the "so bad it's entertaining" factor to it.

    Cloverfield

But has Jack Bauer ever had to deal with a fucking 65-foot high monster? No, I don't think so. Just your garden variety terrorists. Those are easy to stop: BANG, FUCKING DEAD. Giant fucking monster? Eh...tougher. Adrenaline does amazing things. Then again, maybe the crew had FIGHTING SPIRIT~!

George Romero talks "Diary of the Dead"

I caught that, you prick! Slither was decent, but it wasn't the huge awesome "THIS IS AN AMAZING MOVIE BY HORROR FANS FOR REAL HORROR FANS" that it was made out to be. It was Night of the Creeps without the awesomeness. The casting was good, ditto the acting (as good as it should've been), but...meh. Not as good as it should've been. As for Diary, I hope it's good. I didn't mind Land, though I'd say it's better than Day, but not nearly as fun as the Dawn remake, but this looks promising. That poster looks like the classic ones for Dawn and Day, so rock n' roll.

    Kong vs. Angle

Because no woman could EVER beat ANY man. Would it be believable for Kong to demolish Angle? Hell no. That's not what we're saying. She's a beast, but Angle IS an Olympic champion. The match would have to end with Angle going over, but with Kong having an impressive showing. And we're not saying "let's forget that he fought a woman" afterwards, we're saying "let's remember just how much of a badass bitch Kong is, as she stood up to FORMER OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALIST and MULTIPLE-TIME WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION Kurt Angle." It's somebody who doesn't need anybody to ever really put them over again (Angle) putting over (through defeat) somebody that has a (hopefully) long career ahead of her (Kong).

D.R.I. - Crossover This album is every bit as important as the hype for it says it is. It represents a blend of hardcore punk - which DRI were before this album and the album right before it - and metal - which DRI was from this album forward until disbanding - into a style called "crossover," named as such for its seemless blend of hardcore punk and metal. DRI, SOD, and modern-day gods Municipal Waste are the best examples of this style, as are latter-album Biohazard and Ringworm. A solid album, and it sounds fresh enough today (it's about 20 years old) as it did when first released. If you listen to Municipal Waste or Send More Paramedics and then listen to DRI, you'll think that DRI is just another up-and-coming thrash band. That both says how fresh this album sounds, and how little crossover has changed since its inception. An important album, and a fun listen. The Black Dahlia Murder - Nocturnal A huge improvement over Miasma, which wasn't even a bad album. Lyrically, the band has returned to their horror-influenced fare, but musically, the band has grown ever-so-slightly, and it's refreshing to hear a modern band gain popularity during the fashioncore/metalcore era and still incorporate enough pure death and black metal influences to keep it fresh and grounded in pure metal. A pleasure to listen to, if somewhat forgettable, as all Black Dahlia is. Too many songs flow together, so you have to look more at their albums than at individual songs, as Unhallowed was far more straightforward death metal than Miasma was, which represented shorter and much more furious songs. Nocturnal adds a minor element of ambience to their sound, achieved through some solid riffs that chug along for pretty long. That's not a complaint, either, as the rhythm changes enough to keep things interesting. Better than Miasma, but not as good as Unhallowed.

    Cloverfield

It was one of the better movies I've been to the theater to see in the last couple of years. Between this or Sweeney Todd, totally this. I didn't stay through the credits, but it doesn't sound like what happened afterwards mattered MUCH to the story. Loved the ending, , but I can see how people would call "bullshit," especially if they were expecting more of a true Hollywood ending (ie. everything is explained and/or works out all right), but the ending made total sense . That, and this is the kind of flick where . Also, my girl noticed this...

    Moments that irritated you

Everything in WWECW that wasn't Morrison/Punk/Miz. Kinda sad when you can list MIZ as a highlight of a company, though he has improved a decent amount since being brought up. Everything Sullivan booked in WCW between Russo's two stints. It wasn't so much offensive as utterly boring, and completely turned me off of WCW to the point where even Russo's second run was that much of an improvement. TNA not having the first Joe/Angle match either end with Joe BARELY winning or the match going to a draw (preferably time limit). It didn't hurt Joe as much as the booking of the feud after the first match did, but it would've been much better had Joe been PROVEN as Angle's equal right away. WWE never realizing how popular Hurricane really was, specifically during the Rock feud, and just treating him as a jobber. Here you have one of the very few WCW guys who came into the company during the company's downfall who got over entirely on his own merits, and then got over after being a lame gimmick and running with it, and you just treat him as a comedy character with no chance at all of being anything more. Remember how one of the running angles of Hurricane's matches was his attempts to chokeslam larger opponents? Can you imagine just how big of a pop he'd get if he actually DID chokeslam somebody bigger than him, even just once? I always thought they missed the boat on that one. XPW cutting promo's about how they're sick of every company wanting to bring in older talent to make themselves a name, and running down ECW constantly, and then having half of their original roster be former ECW talent. XPW was the very definition of "bad booking." But for some reason, a lot of their stuff is so much fun to watch, especially the truly homegrown guys like Messiah, Webb, Supreme, Kaos, and especially Homeless Jimmy. Oh, and this didn't so much as irritate me as somewhat annoy me, but when I was writing the Lazarush, I would always give Kazarian shit. ALWAYS. And I referred to myself as "the L-A-Z." Then, about a month ago, Kaz cut a promo where he called himself "the K-A-Z." Kinda made me go "huh, maybe they DID read TSM."

    Kong vs. Angle

Angle looks like enough of a tool without this storyline, so I don't see where your complaint really comes from.

The Story of XTREME PRO WRESTLING

I got Season 1 last night, and if you have Hardcore Conception and The Revolution Will Be Televised, even the original Baptized in Blood, skip the first disc entirely. It's all badly produced recaps, which is understandable regarding Revolution... as that was just a tape about XPW TV. Disc 2 is actually fairly entertaining, as the Lazie/Black feud over XPW's ownership was decently booked, and the rise of Kid Kaos is fun to watch, as is the beginning of the Supreme/Axl feud post-deathmatch tourney.

Kamala, that's due to Strawberries being owned by FYE. Most Strawberries stores are either going to be, are being, or have been transformed into an FYE outlet. If there's an FYE and a Strawberries too close to each other, then the Strawberries is going under. They'll just move all (or maybe just most) of their leftover stock to the nearest FYE.

Someone else here is bound to like Morphine, right?

You know, for somebody with as limited musical taste as myself...I do like Morphine. Couldn't name a single song other than "Early to Bed," but the handful of tunes I've heard from them have been enjoyable.

    The Dark Knight

I still don't get the love for Spidey 2. I fucking hated that movie for its entire 2-hour run. I agree with the casting choices - even Dunst - but the movie was...meh. I actually felt like the Goblin had a chance at ending Spidey in the first one, and Doc Oc deserved so much more than just a small fight here and there before dying while doing a face-turn. My top 10 comic flicks... 1. The Crow 2. Batman Begins 3. X2: X-Men United 4. Sin City 5. Batman: Mask of the Phantasm 6. Batman ('89) 7. Blade II 8. Spider-Man 9. Hellboy 10. The Punisher

    Predictions for 2008

It's so sad. They should have Dixie and Jarrett giving the OK to everything (this means Jarrett needs to retire from in-ring action, save for once, twice a year for small feuds), D'Amore handling the Knockouts, and pick somebody to book the Heavyweight division, somebody for the Tag division, and somebody for the X-Division. Somebody should have experience in those fields first, so, for example, get Raven to book the Heavyweight division (let him do some ringwork here and there, just not near the belt unless he starts getting more over), re-hire Lynn to book the X-Division (same deal as Raven: he can wrestle, he just can't be the uber-focal point), and hire somebody who helped book successful tag matches from somewhere around the world, be they from Mexico, Europe, Japan, it doesn't matter. All TNA needs to do to be successful is to stop this 1999 WWF/2000 WCW bullshit we see each week and start making some fucking sense. Let the guys wrestle, don't script their every move and word, and have basic, solid storylines where, if there's a plot twist, let it MAKE SENSE.

    Predictions for 2008

See, it's funny, because they pushed Watts due to the fact that he was actually over with the Asylum crowd. And I hated Shane's X-Division title run too, but the 2 weeks before Ultimate X p2 when he lost it? He was GOLD.
