I agree with this. I found his self conscious quirkiness to be contrived and offputting before, but it's almost nonexistant on this album. Sweet. It's probably in my top ten at least. Another one I forgot is We Are Him by the Angels of Light. Black River Song is the best opening track of the year.

Is that poem really by Burroughs? I love him and all, but man, that's hacknyed.

I'm downloading it as we speak. My first few attempts to do so were aborted by the "Sorry, the free service is at full capacity" message I dread. If I enjoy this one, I'll give Soulseek a second chance to find I Can Hear The Music.

Can someone upload one or both of these? The first three volumes can be downloaded here: http://jazzhotsauce.blogspot.com/2006/12/m...-mistletoe.html

gary floyd is on the money here.

I owned the Creed album immediately prior to that one, but never had Human Clay.

If I may be allowed to parrot, All My Friends is the clear winner. Others I've enjoyed: Big Business - Grounds For Divorce St. Vincent - Marry Me Animal Collective - Chores Grinderman - No Pussy Blues The Angels Of Light - Black River Song

Washington DC as the opener? Madness.

I've only listened to it once, but I have to say I enjoy it more than any of the other albums I've heard by Boris or Sunn 0))). It feels heavier and more substantial than a good deal of what I've heard from either band. Did you get the vinyl with the monster thirty minute opening track? If not, try to track it down, it absolutely kills.

John Prine & Iris Defflent - In Spite Of Ourselves Big Business - Grounds For Divorce Kevin Ayers - Song For Insane Times Silver Apples - I Have Known Love Jandek - Naked In The Afternoon

I did that with Bitches Brew once, and had the most bizarre series of nightmares in my life. I anticipate a Laughing Stock listening/sleeping experience would be much more serene.
-
I never did listen to Laughing Stock again.

I think I might have to go with Marry Me by St. Vincent. Fantastic little record, that.
-
St. Vincent - Marry Me Against Me! - Reinventing Axl Rose Swans - Greed/Holy Money Nancy Sinatra & Lee Hazlewood - Nancy & Lee Wolf Eyes - Wolf Eyes

Don't Look Back In Anger is a good song, but otherwise, Oasis might as well not even exist.

The word "indie" has been used to describe a specific sound for twenty years or so.

In the case of this thread, though, you were correct.

Just because I spent the last 4 hours at a bar discussing it...
