King Cockasucka trolls to victory.
Henry Spencer replied to Live Free or Battlenuts's topic in No Holds Barred
Hey Battlenuts, I saw somebody on another forum who had the same avatar as you. What's it from? -
I've always considered Ebert to be amoung the least populist of major film critics.
-
I don't know of anybody who visits allmusic for their reviews.
-
Yeah, but if he started listening to them, people might mistake him for you.

Yesterday and thus far today (looking to add in a few more, I have a day off of work): Now spinning:
-
Since I've Been Loving You is the most tedious song on that album. Otherwise, it's probably their best, although I'm only vaguely interested in Led Zeppelin.
-
The Magnetic Fields did a version of Heroes, too. It sounds like most of their early work, but I don't mind, the sound suits the song well enough. Still, I don't really think people should be covering Heroes. Resist your urges.

A warning - one of the best songs on the new album is the thunderous 'Mama lay softly on the riverbed'. So enjoy that one. Great song. I think he's gonna lose it the most to National Front Disco, though.

I'm going to make a new list of ten favorite songs without even looking at my old one. In no order: Nico - I'll Keep It With Mine Galaxie 500 - Don't Let Our Youth Go To Waste Guided By Voices - Blimps Go 90 Guided By Voices - Smothered In Hugs Beat Happening - Tiger Trap The Magnetic Fields - Papa Was A Rodeo Roy Orbison - In Dreams The Modern Lovers - Government Center Mickey & Sylvia - Love Is Strange The Left Banke - Walk Away Renee

Jingus ignores my e-mails every time I try to sign up for The Pit. Think of what I'm missing.

Plastic Ono Band is more cathartic, which probably makes it less hopeless and sad ultimately. As for which one is the better album? Hard to say. Nebraska is a stronger collection of songs, but very few albums provide as intense an emotional experience as POB.

They've been using that same ad campaign for years. I'm not sure the economy has anything to do with it. Maybe Kansas is just in a permanent state of peculiar depression.
-
High five. I prefer Odyshape, though.

I heard Brothersport at a party about a week ago. All the hipsters went absolutely nuts, and we listened to nothing but Animal Collective for the rest of the night. This will not be helpful in increasing my opinion of the album.
-
It's Animal Collective as usual as far as I can tell.

1. Guided By Voices - Bee Thousand 2. Tom Waits - Rain Dogs 3. Galaxie 500 - On Fire 4. Leonard Cohen - Songs Of Love & Hate 5. The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead 6. The Flaming Lips - Clouds Taste Metallic 7. The Birthday Party - Junkyard 8. The Magnetic Fields - 69 Love Songs 9. Slint - Spiderland 10. Wire - Pink Flag A few spots of overlap. This is just off the top of my head, too.
-
How's that Fugs album? I've only heard their debut.
-
I never said it was awesome. I finally did give it a listen all the way through a few times, though. It's pretty good. I like both of his previous albums better, but time will tell how this one sits with me in the long run.
-
So is their moniker.
-
On the contrary, I think the second half of that album is where the money tracks lie. Although Blank Frank, the weakest spot on the album, is on the second side too.
-
Berlin? The Lou Reed album? Did you ever really consider that to be your favorite album ever? I think it's underrated.
