Not entirely WMV related but a topic came up very briefly in the No Way Out chat about the least successful Royal Rumble winner (based on post RR success). I don't think a strong argument can be made against Big John Studd. All he really did afterwards was referee Andre/Jake and have some terrible matches on house shows with Akeem and Andre The Giant. I watched a Andre Vs Studd match from a MSG or Boston Garden show a month or so back on YouTube and it was atrocious. It made their '84/'85 series look like Steamboat/Flair. I know there were probably bigger plans for Studd and he was too old or got injured but I'm judging this on what actually happened as opposed to what was supposed to happen.

And they both look like Travis Tritt.

Nah, I like having just one at a time.

Dustin Beaverton is living proof that being bored isn't an excuse for shitty posting. Yes, he did use that as an excuse when someone told him he was a shitty poster.

Only thing I would change is I'd have the soundtrack done by Big and Rich. They seem to be the antithesis of Public Enemy (though they did introduce Cowboy Troy, the rapping cowboy to the world...).

Bad News Brown jobbed to Savage during their house show series in late '88 and I think he jobbed to Jake on the house show circuit but you're right, he didn't job much. I always thought he was mediocre at best as a wrestler but he had a pretty decent character. I like WrestleMania VI a little bit better than IV and V, even though wrestling-wise, it isn't much better. The atmopshere is a lot better and the show just seems paced better. Though I've only seen the Coliseum Video version, which cuts out quite a bit out of some of the filler matches. I hope next week's thread isn't about WrestleMania VI as I don't think it's particularly interesting. I think generally, the worse the reputation the WrestleMania has, the more interesting it'll be to talk about.

I never got the Double DQ ending to Bad News Brown Vs Duggan as its not like they had any sort of feud after that match. Usually those types of finishes led to a Post WM house show series but I'm not seeing any matches on Cawthon's between the two. IIRC, Duggan went on to feud with Haku a bit after WrestleMania V. Why not just put Bad News Brown over cleanly? Come to think of it. How many times did Duggan job cleanly in WWF in his most famous run with the company (87-93)? I know he did to Yokozuna and Sgt. Slaughter. I'm pretty sure he jobbed cleanly to Andre but I'm having a hard time thinking of anybody else. I don't even remember Savage beating him cleanly to win The King crown.

I didn't notice it but that'd seem like more of a lowlight to me.

I'm thinking a modern day, live action human adaptation of The Aesop fable, The Town Mouse and The Country Mouse. Larry plays Enos McCullough, a country bumpkin who moves to Los Angeles after he gets laid off from his job as the overnight janitor at a cereal factory. Larry moves in with his cousin, Lance (played by Ron Livingston of Office Space semi-fame), now a famous record producer. For a short time, Enos lives in the high life until at a post MTV Movie Award party, he witnesses the murder of a big-time hip hop star. This draws the ire of evil record label owner, Big J Money (played by Terry Crews). Now Enos has to outsmart the gangstas and safely return to the country.

Larry The Cable Guy plays the propeitor of an successful hot dog cart in Tampa, Florida. His luck changes for the worst when a brand new hoity-toity restaurant opens near his cart and its owner is willing to do anything to get rid of the hot dog stand and its redneck propeitor. It's Hot Diggity Dog, co-starring Terrance Stamp as the elitist restaurant owner and Carmen Electra as Larry's love interest.

Five years ago, I would have completely disagreed with you. But after renting the first six WrestleManias on NetFlix during the buildup to last year's show, I couldn't agree with you more. I think Heenan is a very funny announcer and a good one but I think Ventura made the show seem more legitmate and was better at putting guys over whereas sometimes during undercard filler matches, Heenan just took it as an excuse to crack jokes. I still love Heenan but for my money, Ventura is the best color commentator.

Along the same lines, while in a high school production of Funny Girl, I jokingly suggested we ditch the regular version and do an urbanized update Funny Bitch. Needless to say, this suggestion didn't go over well.

Is it just me or is EHME getting a little out of hand lately?

Why'd they get her to do it anyways? Someone e-mail Meltzer! I always theorized that a famous singer was supposed to do it but cancelled at the last minute so they decided to use one of the wrestlers they weren't using to do it If that was the case, I wish they'd have used this guy. Yes, I just wanted an excuse to post The Piledriver video.

I'm glad I started the worst sequence in TSM history according to ATHIESTDAD/Byron The Bulb. I'd like to thank EHME, Invad3r3kMr. Rant, Battlenuts, Matt Young, and Porter for helping me out. And I'd like to thank Razateca and Van Halen for teaching me the nuances of bad posting. -
Well if they ever make a Saved by the Bell movie, he'd make a good Richard Belding. You know. I'd see that movie. I'd pay full price at the theaters to see it. Fuck y'all. And don't even try to lecture to me that I have a terrible taste in movies. Exslade whatever his name is just lectured to me about how Step Up is not a ripoff of You Got Served and he enjoyed Epic Movie. Now there's someone with a terrible taste in movies. But I digress.

Yeah, everything Bruiser Chong said is pretty much spot on in his assesment of the show. Though I don't hate the Piper's Pit as much as he does. Yes, it's overly long but I think it has its moments (Brother Love's Piper impression, Piper blowing a fire extinguisher in Downey's face). I chuckle whenever I see the segment where Fuji trains for his match by running in the WrestleMania V fun run (while wearing his suit no less!) and cheats to win it. Another problem with the show was a lot of extraneous non-wrestling crap. Besides the aforementioned Piper's Pit and Run-DMC performance, wasn't there a segment where they welcomed back Jimmy Snuka? Now normally this type of thing would be fine as it would only take up a minute or two of time but not at Trump Plaza where it takes five minutes to walk up and own the stairs. And were they really planning on pushing Snuka anyways?

Didn't Anchorman already have a subplot about a baby panda? I think even idiots like me who regularly attend Will Ferrell movies would cry foul

Bruiser Chong- ball's now in your court to start this week's thread. I'll give 'em till 5:00 P.M. Wednesday to start the thread. If he hasn't done it by then, somebody else can do it.

Will Ferrell plays the president's bumbling son-in-law, who to prevent further embarrassment to the administration, is given a job as a diplomat in an obscure middle eastern country. Through a series of wacky misfortunes, Ferrell causes an international incident and has to work his way out of it to prevent war. It's The Ugly American: The Bill Whitmore Story, co-starring Christopher Walken as King Abdullah and Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller as his wacky American hip-hop loving sons. Also featuring Fred Willard as The Secretary of State and Dan Aykroyd as The President. I'd rent it!

I was big of a Jeff Hardy hater as anyone in '02/'03 but I have to give props to him for finally cleaning up his act and living up to his potential. I think he's earned a World title run.

Another terrorism angle might do it. I quit watching for 18 months after the Mohammad Hassan crap. A group of terrorists hijaack a plane and fly it into Titan Towers. Vince sends Mike Admale to the Afghanistan/Pakistan border to find this group of terrorists, where he ends up kidnapped and eventually beheaded, live on RAW. This leads to an enraged Vince leading a team of Hulk Hogan, Sgt. Slaughter, "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, and a rehired The Patriot to battle the evil masterminds who plotted the attack at WrestleMania XXV.

WWE 24/7 Discussion Thread - February 2008
King Kamala replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in WWE Multimedia
I agree. At the time, I was mainly watching WCW and I didn't really get back into watching WWF until around the time of Canadian Stampede.
