WrestleMania Roundtable Part Two: Out With The Old, In With The New
King Kamala replied to King Kamala's topic in General Wrestling
The Nasty Boys/Hart Foundation is a good match despite the disappointing finish as is The Rockers Vs Haku and Barbarian. And I maintain that Hulk Hogan Vs Sgt. Slaughter is one of the better Hogan matches of that era despite the dumbass angle behind it. Three or four good matches is a good ratio for one of the first ten 'Manias. There's nothing else that's definitively bad. Hell, I don't think the blindfold match is quite as bad as its reputation (though it is certainly bad). Like I said, I wouldn't rate it as one of the great WrestleManias of all time but it's certainly a good one and not the out and out misfire that some members of the IWC like to peg it as. I meant to make a point in the roundtable RE: Demos/Japanese dudes (Tenyru and some other dude whose name I forget). You have to remember that this was when WWF was trying to develop a relationship with SWS and Demolition was going absolutely nowhere in March '91 so I don't see the harm in them getting squashed....will admit the match was kind of crappy. Like I said I wouldn't call it one of the great WrestleManias of all time but it's certainly a good one. -

Last roundtable slot has been filled by Cheech. Thanks to everybody who entered the "I Want To Be A Member of The WrestleMania Roundtable" contest! -

Ugh, I spent four hours in the library today and got 3/4ths of a page of this done. Four hours. And it's not even very good. Granted most of the time spent was being distracted by you assholes! The last few days before spring break are the worst. -

Well folks, another slot's open in the roundtable tonight. First one to PM me who hasn't been in either of the first two is in! -
Yeah, I really dig "The Secret Life of Morgan Davis" as well. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that most of The Rockin' The Suburbs b-sides are better than anything off of his last two albums. The only one I recall not really liking was the boy band spoof ("Girl" I think it was called) and that wasn't actively bad, just one of those songs that's just a forgettable goof B side. Did I ever mention on the board that the last time I saw Ben Folds live, he randomly decided to play "The Secret Life of Morgan Davis". This is pretty cool in itself but he forgot the words somewhere in the second verse and my younger brother (who drove up to the show with me but for some reason was in another part of the auditorium) shouted out the lyrics, leading to Ben inviting him up onstage to finish the song. That was perhaps the greatest concert moment I've witnessed.

Wrestling Roster Draft: Luxe & Reduxe
King Kamala replied to PILLS! PILLS! PILLS!'s topic in Draft Faggotry
As a mark for big man-little man type matches, I was looking at one of Bernard/Albert's tag teams as my next pick to face off against Londrick in my main tag team feud. My #1 team is still on the board but I'm sure one of the members will be picked before I'm up next. -
Amusing anecdote somewhat related to that. Koko worked a couple shows for an indie promotion up here about five months ago and a few days before the show, I saw a listing on craigslist put up by the promotion looking for "a parrot or another exotic bird" to borrow for Koko's entrance. I don't think there was any compensation for it besides free tickets. But shouldn't the fact that you got your bird carried by a future WWE Hall of Famer be enough?

Wrestling Roster Draft: Luxe & Reduxe

I'd give him the gimmick of a guy who can control the world with his mind and uses the ability to make the divas clothes fall off and they try to cover up but he's seen everything. He's seen it all. -
I don't know---those types of songs are not my favorite and his swearing generally does come off as forced and cloying but "Bitches Ain't Shit" is a well done parody/homage. The G-Funk synthesizers really drive the song home...that and the British guy.

He poked fun at himself in Thumbsucker. He basically played himself as a spaced out, new age dentist and was the funniest part of the film. Too bad like eight people saw it. Decent movie.

Am I the only one marking out at the news of Koko B. Ware being inducted into The Hall of Fame? Sure it's completely and totally undeserved but if it means seeing current members of the WWE roster do the Bird while Koko makes his way to the stage for his acceptance speech, then I'm all for it.

It seems like more guys are getting picked off my list the later we go on this draft. Surely, a good sign. Still my #1 and #2 guys remain on the board (my planned opponents for Londrick) but somehow I fully expect one of the team to get drafted in the next few picks. I just know it. Also RE: X-Pac...I've always kind of liked the guy. Well, at least I've never hated him. Yeah his gimmick got really old after '00 or so but even during the peak of X-Pac heat during The Invasion, I thought he was a decent to good worker. Haven't seen him since he got released from WWE but I'd venture to say he's still not terrible. -
I knew that being head of the WWE Folder would drive Venkman to madness. Just knew it. He's missed like three roundtables in a row for god's sake.

Yeah, "Sports and Wine" is one of the few duds off of the self titled debut. I've also never been a fan of "Uncle Walter" or "Julianne" but they're more middling than outright terrible. Everything else is good to great. I'd say Whatever and Ever Amen has a more solid set of songs but the highs are higher on the debut. I originally meant my Top 5 to be a composite of Five and solo songs but no solo songs happened to make the list. Well I'll do Top 5 solo then 5. Bitches Ain't Shit (I'm 98.2% sure that Czech's not a fan of this one but this is about as well made of a novelty cover as you can get) 4. Zak and Sara 3. Still Fighting It 2. Not The Same 1. Annie Waits

Well, that was even more awesome than I remembered it being. -
I'm sure I'm the only one but I always thought Keanu should do more comedy. He's good at playing dumbass/spacey types for intentional laughs as well as unintentional. Weirdly enough My favorite Keanu performance was in the semi-obscure indie Thumbsucker

Thank you, Gary. Whenever I made that comparison, I was ignored. Though to be fair, I called that guy "the dude from Motley Crue's "Smokin' In The Boys Room video" rather than the dude from The Hills Have Eyes.

Agent- can they both be punished? Is anybody getting any enjoyment out of this thread? Why am I still posting in it?

Yeah, I sat next to a middle aged, Boogeyman mark at the last house show I went to in June '06. Even if he (and 75% of the section I was in) gave me dirty looks for rooting for Finlay against Bobby Lashley. That's all I really have to add.

Yeah, I'll still end up burning my younger brother's copies of his albums but I'm not buying his shit anymore. Like I said earlier, you can get a pass for one bad album but two bad albums in a row...you're I'll still see him live though. I haven't had the opportunity to see him on this tour yet but I saw him twice on the last tour and he ranks up there in the pantheon of great live acts. I think his solo band is underused- they sound nearly good as the Five live and their harmonies are pretty good but his last album was so drenched in studio wankery that it was hard to tell. Since I've ranked Ben Folds' albums, let's do Top 5 favorite songs... 5. "Best Imitation of Myself" 4. "Battle of Who Could Care Less" 3. "Don't Change Your Plans" 2. "Magic" 1. "Alice Childress"

Yeah, teaming Sasaki and Animal was also on my radar last round but I decided there were too many good actual tag teams left to justify being a dick. -
This is the worst feud in recent memory at TSM...and I don't hate either of the posters involved. There's no sense of fun or humor involved, just two guys who kind of hate each other.

Ah damn! Another pick stolen from under me! Ultimo Dragon was #1 on my list of potential draft picks. He was going to be the center of my junior heavyweight division, dammit! Shouldn't have expected him to last back to me but still! Errr....nice pick. -

Damn, I was just thinking last night about how surprised I was that Yokozuna was still on the board and hoping that he'd fall all the way back down to me. Ah well. Great pick. Sid-Yokozuna would certainly be an interesting match up.
