    The 25 Worst Remakes Made

Yeah, I must have overlooked some of those. The 101 Dalmatians remake isn't a bad kid movie. Not a great one but decent enough. Glenn Close does a decent job of hamming it up. Now 102 Dalmatians, that's pretty shitty. One of those movies that I can't even remember why I saw it in the first place. I think I saw it in high school and it was one of those days before vacation where the teacher didn't do anything so they showed that figuring it wouldn't offend anybody. Think it was the same class where the teacher showed Cool Runnings every other week.

It was The Quebecers... They weren't The Mounties! Nor were they The Rougeaus for that matter. Oh yeah! They were the same guys though, weren't they? Almost...The Rougeau Brothers was Jacques and Raymond Rougeau. Then Raymond retired in 1990, Jacques went on to be the Mountie and in 1993, he teamed up with Pierre Carl-Oullet to become The Quebecers...who for the record, were NOT The Mounties.

    Classic MLB Games Thread

http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BO...199907190.shtml The terrible Florida Marlins beat the Sox in a slugfest. Don't remember much about this except for a rain delay and some drunk guy in front of us getting ejected. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BO...199907210.shtml Another crappy game. All I remember is my eleven year old self getting mad because a bunch of people in our section were rooting for The Orioles. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BO...200308200.shtml Another Red Sox loss, this time to The Oakland As. All I remember from this one was everybody razzing Byung Hyun Kim and Oakland fan in our section getting ejected by the ushers for squabbling with Sox fans. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BO...200407080.shtml Probably the best game I saw live and the first Sox win I've seen. Went at the last minute since my brothers went to a concert in Boston and my dad and I decided to tag along and see if we could get some scalped tickets to the Sox game that night since Schilling was pitching. The Sox storm out to a 7-1 lead but the As slowly catch up before the Sox squeak out a win on a walk off Bill Mueller double in the 10th. An awesome game. Ended up trading up our crappy grandstand seats we had for the first six innings for some great box seats for the last three. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BO...200407221.shtml Pretty crummy game. All I remember is it was hot as hell (first half of a double header) and David Ortiz hit two triple (!) http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/MO...200408130.shtml My first and unfortunately last game at Olympic Stadium. Picked a good one, saw Roger Clemens pitch. Saw the tallest player ever to hit a home run hit a home run (7 foot Expos pitcher Jon Rauch off Clemens no less). Was a pretty damn good game too as well as The Expos won in 12. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BO...200409150.shtml Don't remember much about this one except my dad's co-worker being completely plastered and showing photos of his hot girlfriend on his cell phone to a the 12 year old kids seated next to us. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BA...200504190.shtml Don't remember too much about this one except for being taken aback by Camden Yards. Hell of a ballpark that place is. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BA...200504200.shtml It was about 75% Sox fans that night. Absolutely crazy. Probably one of the most fun times I've had at a game. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BA...200504210.shtml It was 50/50 this night in terms of the ratio of Orioles fans to Sox fans. The most intense atmosphere I'll ever see at an April game. Then again, I was seated in a section filled with some hardcore Os fans. Great pitching duel between Matt Clement and Rodreigo Lopez. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BO...200508020.shtml Don't remember much about this one except being in the centerfield and everybody being in love with Johnny Damon. How quickly feelings change... Oh this was also in the weird period where Curt Schilling was the closer. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BO...200607190.shtml Good pitching duel, another hot as hell day game. Troy Brown was in attendance for this game. My dad's former co-workers who we randomly saw after the game gave us really bad directions home. Those jerks! http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/NY...200705250.shtml Shitty park, great atmosphere. Was sitting in the upper deck with a bunch of drunken, hostile Yankees fans. Hilarious. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BO...200707160.shtml Surprisingly good pitching performance by Kason Gabbard. Third year in a row, where the only tickets I could get for Fenway was against the Royals, weird.

    The 25 Worst Remakes Made

I think the 1976 version is the horrible one The sequel to the 1976 movie is the real terrible one. I know there have been good remakes but has there ever been a good sequel to a remake?

Worldwide was syndicated so you didn't need cable to see that show! And who wouldn't want to miss a show with scintillating matches featuring the likes of Roadblock, Frankie Lancaster and The Gambler? There was also a show very briefly in late '99/early '00 on the local UPN affiliate here called "Ultimate Pro Wrestling" that aired old later day WCCW, USWA, and IWCCW matches plus the rare current indies match. It was only really notable for featuring the nonsensical color commentary of Tony Atlas and hyping a Steve Austin Vs The Undertaker match (Which of course ended up being Mark Calloway as IIRC, The Punisher squashing a rookie Steve Austin in two minutes from USWA Dallas). Sadly, I don't think there are any more nationally syndicated wrestling shows anymore since the demise of Jakked and Metal.

    NBA Roundtable Discussion

Funny that the only people who really hate this deal for the most part are Celtics fans. The Minnesota Timberwolves are now basically the outcasts of The Celtics, with Telfair, Jefferson, Gomes, Ratliff plus Ricky Davis and Mark Blount. It's a desperate, I grant you but the only other option is wait 3 or 4 years for the young guys to develop and by then, Pierce would be in his mid 30s. I like it but they need to pick up a couple roleplayers to fill up the bench.

I think they were in negotiations with Warrior at the time because at that time, Warrior was preparing for a return in wrestling. He did end up returning for Las Vegas indy fed, NWF and wrestling two or three matches for them.

    The 25 Worst Remakes Made

That movie is probably the #1 most disappointing movie I've ever seen. I love Tim Burton and I love the first four Planet of The Apes movies. And that remake was such a piece of shit. The Wicker Man is incredibly boring for the first two thirds and then the last third is all kinds of crazy unintentional comedy. I loved Nick Cage punching the woman in the face while wearing a bear suit.

    The 25 Worst Remakes Made

Pretty good list, about as accurate as one of these lists could get. The only problem is I think some of them are too low and The Out of Towners is too high. I remember that being more forgettable than outright bad.

  14. Hey, I didn't say DK was lying. It's just selling the story to The Globe that seems kind of exploitive. But I can't blame him, he probably really needs the money. Here's a link to the Globe's website where they have a blurb; http://www.globemagazine.com/ Here's Marty Jannetty talking about The Iron Sheik; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9ZmZ0ZVq48 Marty Jannetty got kicked off of The Wrestling Classics board about 4 years ago for telling some seedy stories.

I miss wrestling on Saturday period, for a brief time in '97 IIRC, it was WCW Pro at 9 in the morning, WWF Superstars at Noon, WCW Saturday Night from 6 to 8, and then WWF Shotgun at midnight.
  16. Yeah, I've only seen his Bulldogs WWF work but yeah what a prick. Regardless of the fact, he seems to be kind of a chair, it still sucks that he's in such a diminished state. Apparently he's in one of the U.S. tabloids talking about Chris Benoit and how he tried to "save his life" by telling him not to take steroids like he did. Marty Jannetty seems to be one of those guys who tells a lot of funny, sleazy stories on his shoots but after a while, the jokes become less funny and he just seems really seedy.

    The Old School questions thread

Is there any truth to the old rumor that Mr. Perfect (or the closest legal alternative name) was the original choice to main event against Hulk Hogan at Starrcade '94? As bloated as Hogan's ego is, I'm not sure if Hulk Vs The Butcher was anybody's first choice for Hulk's first Starrcade
  18. I hate to sound lame but just because it's your dream job doesn't mean it's Brock Lesnar's dream job! I think Lesnar, Warrior and Goldberg are all guys who went in the goal with coming in, making a shit ton of money and got out before their body fell apart. They succeeded to the ire of some of the IWC.

    WCW Observer Quotes

No, it was a full fledged heel turn. I had a subscription to WOW Magazine at the time (the somewhat short lived semi-smark magazine that was run by Bill Apter) and I remember they had an article about Sting's shocking heel turn. The thing is as you (and the article) pointed out is that Hogan was so lame by September '99 that the audiences cheered Sting when he whacked Hogan so his heel turn really had no effect. I always thought WCW made a massive mistake by turning Hogan face in March of '99. His schtick was way too tired and it hadn't been long enough for people to become nostalgiac for his old persona. In many ways, WCW fans only really accepted him as a heel (with the exception of maybe his first few appearences and the first night back in the red and yellow in front of that crowd in IIRC Idaho that went ape shit for everything).

What was your first Exposure to Wrestling

About 15 years ago, I think it wasSeptember of 1993, a new video store opened up the street from my house and me and my dad decided to take a visit there one day. Well, I must have been tired of watching kids movies cause when my dad said "Hey they got wrestling videos" my interest peaked. They had about 5 or 6 videos and since the only wrestler I knew at the time was Hulk Hogan (my brother went to a house show with my dad a year or two earlier and we had a giant stuffed talking Hulk), I rented Hulkamania 4 (hides head in shame). After that I rented the rest of their limited selection and I soon found out that Superstars came on after cartoons so I watched that. I really got hooked after my dad let me and my older brother stay up and watch RAW for the first time. It was February 26th, 1994 (I recently found the date on the History of WWE site) and the feature bout was "Macho Man" Randy Savage Vs Yokozuna for the WWF World title. I've watched pretty much ever since except for two brief periods (April '95 to June '96, March '99 to November '99) and one three year period (April '03 to March '06)

The only time I like ketchup is a little on a chili dog. Man, I haven't had a chili dog in 2 or 3 years, I got to have one before the summer ends.

    Hot Dog Thread

People who like ketchup on hot dogs are Philistines. Philistines I tell ya! But honestly I've learned not to care so much if people want to slather their hot dog with ketchup. Different strokes for different folks. Go ahead and ruin your hot dogs. One thing I've been meaning to try that I saw on The Food Network. They were showing one of their dozens on hot dogs and they showed a recipe for Venezualan Hot Dogs which are hot dogs with cabbage, onions, mayonaise, mustard, ketchup, and crushed potato chips on top. Something about that seems oddly appetizing though I'd probably go light on the ketchup and mayo (Mayo on a hot dog doesn't sound right)

Comments which don't warrant a thread.

I hate it when openers play longer than the headliners. It seems to happen at about 40% of concerts by local bands I go to for some reason. On Friday, I had to tolerate this excrutiating band from New Jersey called deSol (a bunch of white hippies who thought they were Santana) for 80 minutes. And then the headliner (a reunited local band playing their first show in five years) comes on and plays for an hour and the sound is terrible for the first forty minutes of their set (but it was just fine for those damn hippie openers)

Chain mergers / Corporate brand extensions

Dunkin Donuts/Baskin Robbins might be my favorite combination restaurant of the ones I've personally seen. Donuts and Ice Cream make perfect sense together. Though I really like the rest stop an hour or so from my stop that has a Burger King, Popeye's (Which is the only Popeye's in a 100 mile radius of my house) and Cinnebon. It's nice to know after a long drive back home I can get a Whopper, some fried chicken and a cinnemon bun if I so choose (unfortunately I haven't partaken in all three in one meal)
