Comments which don't warrant a thread.

My dad thinks rock and roll hasn't been the same since they've gotten rid of saxophone solos in rock songs. I'm not sure if I'd agree with him on that...

    The What If Topic...

Goldberg-Brock at WMXX might have gotten nuclear heat in a good way. But honestly, I don't imagine Goldberg would have stuck around for very long. Goldberg has never seemed very interested in wrestling. Brock would probably still be a top guy. At some point, he would have fought Triple H (Maybe WrestleMania XXI) and he probably would have probably had another series of matches with Cena where Cena eventually comes out on top.
  3. Nah, Drew just got a new game show. Though I suppose he could do both at once. I mean it's really not difficult at all to be a game show host.

    The Old School questions thread

Damn, overlooked that while browsing for the answer to Invader's question at Graham's site. On a similar vein, how long were The New Blackjacks together? I had no idea they were still around in early '98.

    The Old School questions thread

Yep, on a couple RAWs. Here are the ones that were televised WWF @ Fresno, CA - Selland Arena - January 19, 1998 (7,329) Raw is War - featured Steve Austin interrupting Mike Tyson's in-ring appearance, eventually leading to a confrontation between the two men before they were pulled apart; during the brawl, Vince McMahon began yelling at Austin, "You ruined it!": Chainz, Skull, & 8-Ball fought Farooq, Kama, & D-Lo to a double disqualification at 4:41 when all six men began brawling in the ring Marc Mero (w/ Sable) pinned Tom Brandi with a low blow and the TKO at 3:30 The Quebecars defeated Cactus Jack & Terry Funk via disqualification at 3:16 after Cactus applied the Mandible Claw on the referee NWA North American Champion Jeff Jarrett (w/ Jim Cornette & the Rock 'n' Roll Express) pinned Bradshaw (w/ Barry Windham) at 3:41 after Windham accidentally clotheslined his partner; after the match, Windham officially turned on Bradshaw Owen Hart, WWF Light Heavyweight Champion Taka Michinoku, & the Headbangers defeated Los Boricuas at 3:01 after Hart applied the Sharpshooter on Jose Estrada WWF IC Champion the Rock pinned Ahmed Johnson at 2:43 after Mark Henry hit Ahmed with a chair WWF Tag Team Champions Billy Gunn & the Road Dogg defeated Henry & Phinneas Godwinn at 4:53 after Gunn hit Phinneas with a brick-loaded stuffed pig Dark match after the show: The Legion of Doom & Ahmed Johnson defeated WWF IC Champion the Rock, Farooq, & Mark Henry when Road Warrior Hawk pinned Farooq following the Doomsday Device WWF @ Davis, CA - Recreation Hall - January 20, 1998 (5,926; sell out) Vic Grimes defeated Erin O'Grady The Irish Assassin defeated Christopher Daniels Shotgun - 1/31/98: NWA North American Champino Jeff Jarrett pinned Chainz after the Rock 'n' Roll Express interfered WWF Light Heavyweight Champion Taka Michinoku pinned Jesus Castillo with a hurricanrana Kurrgan defeated Michael Modest via submission with the claw Bradshaw pinned Donovan Morgan with the lariat Nova & Mosaic defeated Tarantula & Batallion Scott Taylor pinned the Black Phantom with a DDT Only two but he defended it against Cactus Jack (and Dude Love!) and Owen Hart on house shows in January '98.

Worst indy show you've been to

Just out of curiosity, why the hell would they rig the raffle?

    Picnics

You can't go wrong with any kind of salad except for actual salad at a picnic. Ham Salad Chicken Salad Potato Salad Egg Salad Pasta Salad I could probably go on and on.
  8. On the opposite end, I'm not a big Big Show fan but he seems to be a pretty cool guy from all of the interviews I've read with him.

What if WCW never decided to do Nitro and compete directly with the WWF? Would they have still had a run at the top?

    OAO RAW Discussion for 7/23

Candice will probably help out by kicking someone in the testicle.
  11. Shawn Michaels is one of my favorite wrestlers but one of my least favorite people in the wrestling industry.

    Picnics

Well, don't do it on the beach but that's sort of a given. Sand finds its way into everything. I think potato salad is a good option.

    Montreal

Get some Smoked Meat sandwiches and poutine. Mmm...Canadian cuisine!
  14. Bergeron? Todd Newton, who used to be a host on E! like 10 years ago and hosts a live Price is Right show in Las Vegas is also a candidate.
  15. Well I don't think anybody here has said it's their first together. Besides the draw in this one is going to be they're in it together for almost the whole movie not just a few scenes.
  16. John Fugelsang. The only suggestion I've heard for Barker's replacement so far that I've liked was Dan Patrick (which I believe was just a rumor). I wouldn't mind seeing one of those old game show hosts like Chuck Woolery dusted off to replace Bob Barker. Hell, Richard Dawson's still alive! Bring him back! Let him slobber all over the old ladies.

I saw them at a Super Wal Mart about three or so weeks ago.

    Carbonated drinks.

Oh man, Holiday Spice that was some of the most vile shit that I've ever had the misfortune of drinking. Cinammon Pepsi doesn't seem like a terrible idea in principle but in execution, it was vile. There was this creepy British kid that was in my journalism class back in high school that swore by this stuff and he drank a two-liter of that crap everyday for like the two months it was out. Oh and Pepsi Blue, 2nd most vile shit I've had the misfortune of drinking.

Major restaurants and stores not in your area?

Yeah they haven't expanded up here yet but a $3.99 All You Can Eat Pizza Buffet doesn't sound all that appetizing. I don't know how popular they are but I really wish we had an A&W up here.

    Box Office Report..

No, but that's in it's first weekend and somewhat less susceptible to bad reviews. Besides Adam Sandler movies=Shitloads of money.

    Box Office Report..

Why the fuck is License to Wed still in the Top 10? I haven't heard a single positive review from critics or anyone about that movie.

    The What If Topic...

The problem with Goldberg's repeat streak is he had to match his old streak. Which was ludicrous (The announcers even pointed this out-I have some TV on tape from that time period) considering WCW had only about 30-35 guys on the roster and his old streak was IIRC 149 and 0. Meaning he would have had to beat EVERYBODY 4-5 times. I would have had it been if Goldberg lost he would have gotten fired, with no specific number of wins. As for RVD, I think he would have probably been competing for the U.S. title and may have been a semi-main event guy and feuded with Jarrett but even in its dying days, I don't see WCW being smart enough to use him as their #1 guy.

Eating at Applebees for the first time in four years.

No, but I've always wanted to and figured if I actually did stop there, it'd be a massive disappointment.

    SuperEx Showdown

Yeah he's wrestled on some southern indy shows in the past year or two. Hopefully, he'll give a few nuggets of wisdom to the crowd on hand.
