  1. I liked SummerSlam '95 and Survivor Series '95 but other than those two- the rest of the PPVs were really really mediocre. I don't think any of the PPVs strike out at me as "Worst ever" candidate (Except for KOTR) but collectively, it's easily one of the worst years ever for PPVs (WWF and WCW).

Worst indy show you've been to

A friend told me about a TV taping he went to held by a local indy promotion about five years ago (late '02/early '03 IIRC) that started 90 minutes late and lasted over 4 hours. "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, Reckless Youth and Mike Quackenbush were the names on the card but other than them it was pretty much local scrubs. And it was like an old Superstars taping with like 30 five minute squash matches. The only bright side was only 70 people showed up and "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan apparently had personal conversations with pretty much everybody in the crowd. If the highlight of a card is having a five minute conversation with Hacksaw than you know it wasn't a very good show.

I'm pretty sure everything after X-7 was released on DVD.

WrestleMania XV was the first DVD they released and they released WrestleMania 2000 on DVD too. But I don't think they released every pay per view until '01.

    The What If Topic...

I went to a WCW Saturday Night taping two days after Slamboree '98 and the nWo Vs nWo Wolfpac feud was super super over with the crowd. Even after a three and a half hour taping, the crowd was really hot for the advertised Wolfpac Vs Black and White member main event (Which ended up being Konnan Vs The Giant). Contrary to popular belief, the nWo angle was still over in '98 with most of the wrestling audience just not with the IWC (and rightfully so). I just think think WCW dragged it out way too long without having a real ending in mind.

Major restaurants and stores not in your area?

Arby's is O.K. I like the chicken tenders, curly fries and Jamocha Shakes (or whatever the hell they're called) but the roast beef sandwiches are shit. Which is kind of odd since that's Arby's bread and butter.

    Boardloaf

There's a new French Canadian barbecue restaurant (Yeah bit of an odd combination) that opened up around here and apparently they serve poutine with pulled pork on top. I've been meaning to go there for a while, I got to get me some of that.

    The What If Topic...

We all know that Ric Flair was close to leaving WCW in '98 but I found out a couple days ago (don't know how true this is) that allegedly Flair sent out feelers to ECW about possibly coming in in case he left WCW. Let's say hypothetically this did happen and let's say Flair leaves WCW and joins ECW? What happens? Does Flair fit in ECW? What happens to WCW?

Jimmy Hart was a member of 60s one hit wonder, The Gentrys. So it's no real surprise that he can sing Hey----wait--- is that Barry Horowitz in there in the big group shot of all the heels singing? That's frigging awesome if it is.

    John Kronus found dead

I'm pretty sure Kronus had substance problems though I'm not positive. May have been the reason he didn't join Saturn in WCW. I don't think Mero ever wrestled Kronus unless it was in the indies or Mero had a brief ECW stint that I'm completely forgetting about. RIP Kronus

    The What If Topic...

Yeah, I think it still would have been successful without Hogan but it wouldn't have been the huge mega successful angle it was. I think WCW was on its way to #1 regardless in the summer of '96 but I don't think it would have been as dominant and #1 for the length of time it was if Hogan didn't join the nWo. Hogan's career needed that as well. His career was on life support in early '96. There was really nothing more they could have done with him as face except maybe turn Sting or Savage heel but even then the fans seemed sick and tired of Hogan's babyface act.

Here's a good one; What if someone other than Hulk Hogan (let's say Sid) was the third member of the nWo? Does the angle become successful?

Knowing that, his boy Jeff probably would have main evented WrestleMania X. Here's a good question; what if WCW didn't bring in Russo in October of '99 and actually listened to the results of that fan survey they did around the time (more in ring action, less backstage skit)? WCW was pretty far behind by then but IMO, it wasn't so inconceivable that they could at least compete with the WWF with the right direction

    The Old School questions thread

Wasn't it to show that he didn't really care about his health or something stupid like that? And that'd somehow get him over as a heel. Amusingly enough, he was teamed up with alcoholic Scott Hall at the time. I think they should have signed Yokozuna and made them a trio. An alcoholic, a chain smoker and a morbidly obese guy on the same team. That's money!

    The What If Topic...

WWF would have probably limped along for a couple of years (tops) and then collapsed. That leaves WCW as #1....I don't know maybe something similar to the territory system. I just don't see the WCW of the early 90s being a #1 company.

    The What If Topic...

Yeah, as both a heel or a face, DBS seemed like a solid #2 or #3 guy but not a long term #1 guy

    CTDWAT: Indies/Overseas/General

I'm sure he'll be fighting for the TNA World title before too long if he keeps this up.

    The What If Topic...

He certainly would have had a lengthier IC title reign, that's for sure. He probably would have held it for a good 5-6 months and then dropped it to HBK. I know a lot might not disagree with me, but I don't think he would have been a long term main event guy had he not left. He might have gotten a short run as a main event heel against Bret Hart playing up the whole "I've beaten you before now I want your world title" storyline (Like what actually happened in late '95).

    July WWE 24/7 Discussion

I don't know...didn't the WWF have a hand in producing the first couple Hogan movies (No Holds Barred and Suburban Commando IIRC)? And I doubt the studio would charge them that much to show them.

    July WWE 24/7 Discussion

And it's not like Popeye was a huge hit when it came out. Speaking of Suburban Commando, an acquaintence of mine recently met Hulk Hogan at a TGI Fridays in St. Louis and asked him about the movie and Hogan told him that Christopher Lloyd used to smoke a lot of pot before every scene. I guess he either needed it to get through that crappy movie (understandable) or was more like his character on Taxi than I previously thought.
