There are a lot of folks in the TSM community who don't actually watch WWE (anymore). I gave up on it quite a while ago. Plus, this is a smark board anyway. Well yeah I rarely watch it myself (I wanted to see it because I'm a fan of cheesy action movies), but still there are plenty of folks who do watch it. Maybe everybody just gave up after The Marine and See No Evil. I'm glad Hot Fuzz is #7, now that was a damn good movie. Word of mouth must be getting out about it. Hopefully this means Spaced will come out on DVD but I digress. I feel weird defending The Condemned so much since I didn't really it like that much. It's a decent bad movie, maybe worth a rental if you like that sort of stuff.

Is WWE trying to make great movies? They're trying to make movies for their fans and suffice to say, most wrestling fans love brain dead action and slasher films.
-
Has anybody seen the movie besides me? That's a bad sign for the box office if only one person on a wrestling message board has seen a movie targeted towards wrestling fan. I would have no problem with a movie like Commando (and fuck you Cabbageboy- I love that movie) but WWE can't even make a ripoff of that competently! The Condemned doesn't have enough good one liners and has too much preachiness. I would like to see another (better) movie teaming up Steve Austin and Vinnie Jones and I already have the plot. The Governor of Texas is murdered on a trip to London and a Texas Ranger (Austin) is sent over to investigate alongside Scotland Yard's toughest detective (Jones). THAT'S BOX OFFICE GOLD BAYBEE!

Dammit Hawk 34, the WWE are keeping my hopes of straight up, no braineraction flicks coming back alive! Er...just barely I think WWE Films can keep their guys as the leads and still make decent popcorn movies. It's not like they're going for high art, they're going for solid popcorn movies (be they action or horror). Honestly, I don't think fans would want to see any WWE Film that isn't an action or horror movie, it's really niche company. Nobody is going to see a romantic comedy produced by WWE Films. Romantic comedy fans will be turned off by the fact that it's a film produced by WWE and WWE fans will turned off by the fact that it's a romantic comedy. That being said WWE could make much better niche movies than they are now. For example, all The Condemned needed to become a decent action flick was to tone down the preachiness, trim some of the subplots and just do a balls out action movie. Oh and get a better villain. The guy who played the evil multi-millionaire really, really underacted the role. It's a fucking B action movie, ham it up! The wrestling fan in me would have liked to see Vince McMahon in the role but the movie fan in me and common sense tells me that some good character actor like J.K. Simmons could have played it to a tee. Like I said, I don't think WWE Films ever intended to or ever will produce big blockbuster films or an eclectic bunch of films but they could be making much, much better B movies.

It was way preachy and the film was filled with bad accents and bad performances in general. Yet, I still kind of enjoyed it. Definitely a good bad movie rather than just a plain bad movie. I loved Vinnie Jones as the laid back, sarcastic bad ass heel and Steve Austin was surprisingly competent. In fact, I'd say Austin is the 2nd best actor-wrestler behind The Rock. I'd like to see him do some more action movies with a better script and a better supporting cast. Plus there were a few good fight scenes. I'd say it's a worth a rental or a matinee ticket. There were only about five people in the theaters when I saw it. But the theater in general was pretty much empty. So nobody was seeing anything. I'm predicting a pretty weak weekend at the box office.

I don't see this mentioned anywhere else but TNA is doing two shows in Massachusetts at the Cape Cod Melody Tent in Hyannis on June 21st and The South Shore Music Circus on June 22nd. The WWE usually runs house shows at these venues in the summer. IIRC, they each hold about 3,000. Good to see TNA doing more shows in the Northeast. Hopefully they can do a show in Maine (Yeah...wishful thinking on my part)

My mom doesn't like wings but she's the only person I know that doesn't (Outside of the several vegetarians and vegans I know) It's been way too long since I've had wings.

I was reading a recent interview with him and he said he's lost 30-40 pounds since he left WWE.

Aw man, one of my favorite old school novelty songs! RIP Bobby Boris
-
Yeah, it was a pretty solid mini series. I agree with Ripper though, the shows were kind of thin at times. I think it would have worked better as a 3 or 4 part mini series rather than a six part one. And no, it's not in continuity with The Wire but a few actors from The Wire show up. Most notably (and oddly), Lester Freamon as one of the main crackheads.

Frank Stallone- "Far From Over" It's been too long since I've listened to the great music of Frank Stallone.
-
I'm pretty sure it was the dress. And Jeff Beck? No offense, great guitar player but was Clapton and Carlos Santana busy?
-
Aw man! White Stripes are coming to Portland on July 22nd! I'm there! Especially since it's a rare thing when somebody good comes to Maine.

OK just heard another contender- Jennifer Love Hewitt did a cover of "Me and Bobby McGee" and the track was acapella except for the use of bongos. It was as bad as you would think it would be.
-
Yeah, really, a terrible song and an even worse cover. While we're on the topic of "Under Pressure", Gerard Way and Bert McCracken's (the singers for My Chemical Romance and The Used respectively) cover of that song is up there on the list of the worst.

Did anybody have David Halberstam? I'm assuming nobody did.

Another quirky show I rented, SCTV Network 90 Vol. 1. I'm downright shocked I haven't seen this show until now. It's like the missing link between Monty Python and SNL (Yes, I know it came after both). Some of the pop culture references are a bit too obscure even for me but I'm really digging most of it so far. I love Taxi Driver starring Gregory Peck.
-
That was a pretty bad show. I taped it (I was at a concert on Saturday) and I couldn't even get through the whole thing. Doesn't seem like I missed much.
-
YES! RIP Boris, you were one of my favorite presidents of any country ever. Whenever I saw that stock footage of you dancing, I laughed my ass off.

Neil Sedaka with Elton John- Bad Blood Not saying much but this is perhaps the most badass Neil Sedaka song ever. He says "bitch". Though I could really do without the flute solo.
-
It was on CSNY's last album IIRC.

Hate to double post. But saw Guster last night at The Boston Opera House...damn good show. The best part was a special appearance by Bob Saget. And I'm not joking, Danny fuckin Tanner showed up during the encore.
-
I just rented The Adventures of Pete and Pete: Season One from NetFlix and man, I'm surprised a show that bizarre was on Nickelodeon at one point. Damn good show though and I like the fact that they used actual teenagers to play teenagers. And the guest stars were all great, the best was Steve Buscemi having a prank war with the Petes dad.

Another decent but forgettable show outside of The SNL Digital Short which was hilarious. SNL has had a string of these OK shows since they came back from Christmas break. I guess it's better than a streak of crappy shows like 04-05 though.
