I must be the last guy to find out that Stringer Bell (Well the guy who plays Stringer Bell, Idris Elba) is British. I'm in shock right now for some reason. And I thought I was surprised when I found out McNulty was British.

The Hollies- The Air That I Breathe On a weird 70s/80s soft rock kick this weekend.

I was talking about how I liked that The Sting/Hogan angle was a part of the brief, booker by committee period from September 1999 to mid-October 1999 which I actually kind of liked. More than The Summer of '99 and Russo's era anyways. As bad as Russo's first run in WCW was, it was a lot better than what Bischoff was doing and it was 10x better than Sullivan's booking reign. I still maintain that January-March of 2000 WCW was the worst wrestling I have ever watched. Worse than any of Russo's other runs in WCW, worse than '95 WWF. Just awful, awful stuff.

The Chi-Lites- Have You Seen Her Does anybody remember Hammer's cover of this? Love, oh, love. Love is a feeling that the Hammer definitely needs!
-
I loved that segment. That was one of maybe two or three worthwhile segments on the entire run of The Awful Truth. I like Michael Moore, but that show was pun intended, quite awful. Now I hate Phelps as much as the next guy but....just to freshen up the subject, some conservative pundit (forget who exactly) suggested that Phelps was an Agent Provocateur...thoughts?

Toto- Africa Fuck, I forgot how great this song is. I love yacht rock.

Call me crazy, but I liked the very brief period between Bischoff leaving and Russo arriving from about September to mid October. I haven't watched it since it originally aired but I remember Sting's heel turn and the aftermath were well done. It's just fans couldn't possibly hate Sting and the fans were tired of red and yellow Hogan at that point so hence heel Sting getting cheered over Hogan.

I haven't watched that show since it happened but I remember that show being awful outside of the two Benoit matches (which couldn't quite save the show).

Hmm, my brother's going to UMass' SpringFest and its a triple bill with Ben Folds, Talib Kwali and OK Go with Mr. Belding himself, Dennis Haskins MCing the concert. I'd go for Belding alone but alas my concert funds are short and Amherst is way too long of a fucking drive for a school night.

Somebody better sing Rico Suave or I'll be pissed! I'm hoping Sanjaya will do it. What does he have to lose?

You have to remember that HBO full season sets cost $60-$70 sometimes $90 due to music licensing and whatnot. So IIRC, they split some of the season sets in half to make them more affordable. And it seems that more people will pay $30 for two different half-season sets released 6 to 12 months apart than will pay for one full season set for $60. Doesn't make much sense to me but hey maybe it works.

Somebody said Sanjaya looked like 80s one hit wonder Jermaine Stewart (Might have been All Music Guide's wrapup) and after seeing him tonight, man oh man. Sanjaya is the Indian Jermaine Stewart.

Do they still have those? I haven't seen them around here in about 10 years.

When We Were Marks: An Unreasonable Accomodation
King Kamala replied to Llakor's topic in General Wrestling
Hey, Maine is as Conan O'Brian said "The Deep South of The Far North". New Hampshire is like the Republican Oasis in a sea of Blue States. So I guess the Kentucy of the North sort of works but I think "The Texas of New England" is better. New Hampshire is the only state in New England that isn't really defined by anything. Maine is Vacationland, Massachusetts is the big state, Connecticut is the rich state, Vermont is the hippie state and Rhode Island is sort of a combination of Massachusetts and Connecticut. New Hampshire's got nothing- they had the Old Man in The Mountain but once that collapsed, they got nothing. We have lobster at least and Stephen King! -
http://www.pollstar.com/news/viewnews.pl?NewsID=7808 Andrew W.K. is going on tour as a motivational speaker. This should be surprising but really isn't considering his short lived MTV2 series a couple years back.

Thought I posted in this thread.... I think the point I was trying to make and to a lesser extent, Bob is making is...just because Roald Dahl didn't like the original doesn't mean everyone who liked the book shouldn't like the original. Call me crazy, but I liked both. I liked the original a bit more but not much.

Yeah one guy's dead (shot by his girlfriend in the mid 80s) but the rest are there. I think Mountain and The Zombies are the only bands made up predominantly of guys from their original lineups. Still as an oldies lover and for $20, I can't really go wrong with this show. I think Wavy Gravy is hosting the proceedings as well. It'll be just like a senior citizen's Woodstock!

I really have no idea. Joey Molland is (was?) the guitarist for Badfinger and is IIRC, the only surviving member of the band's classic lineup (Edit: After checking wikipedia, yep he is the only surviving member of Badfinger). Don't know why he just doesn't call it Badfinger. Probably doesn't own the name. Anyways the difference between the two is Joey Molland's Badfinger is is just one member of Badfinger and a bunch of nobodies playing Badfinger songs. I have to assume it's the same deal with Felix Cavalierie's Rascals and The Turtles Featuring Flo & Eddie. Old bands that only have one or two original members and aren't allowed to use their original name.

Yeah, but there are a TON of cruiserweights who didn't win the WCW Cruiserweight title. I was basically asking about which light heavies who've competed in the WWF/E haven't won a Light Heavyweight/Cruiserweight title.
-
Eh, the fact that they acknowledge that they're one of the worst bands on the planet makes them rise above the status of Worst Band on The Planet. You're never going to hear Hinder or KoRn joke about how much they suck. Plus, their JCW videos are pretty funny.

Eh maybe I'm trying to diet subconsciously...but not intentionally. I was probably leaving out a couple of snacks I had that day. It is a little less than what I eat normally. I tend to pig out less on weekdays. But just looking at this thread- it doesn't seem that unusual, anyways today so far. Breakfast: Cinnemon oatmeal with cup of orange pineapple juice Lunch: Roast beef sandwich, small French Fries and RX Energy Drink (Hmmm!) Afternoon snack: Apple and two glasses of water. Bowl of Utz plain ruffle potato chips. Dinner tonight will be Steak Stir Fry with assorted veggies and rice and water. Snack later tonight; Nachos and water Yeah---looking at it, if you take away a few things---it looks like I'm on a diet. I talked to my friend about it and he says people tend to eat less when it gets warmer. Maybe that's an explanation. *shrugs*

The remake of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, I'm not sure about but I'd have to see it again. It was a lot different from the original and I didn't like some of the changes (The Oompa Loompas annoyed the hell out of me) but I was really impressed by Johnny Depp's performance for some reason. I'll have to watch it again if it comes on HBO or Showtime.

Has every light heavyweight to compete regularly in the WWE in the past decade won the Cruiserweight/Light Heavyweight title? I'm having a hard time of thinking of one who hasn't (Scotty won it, Funaki won it). I'm sure there are a few who haven't (I'm almost 100% sure Shannon Moore didn't) but I'm afraid the vast majority of them have.

I've decided to skip John Mayer/Ben Folds to go to HippieFest '07 at Meadowbrook Farms (on Lake Winnapausake!) Lineup; Country Joe McDonald Felix Cavalierie's Rascals Joey Molland's Badfinger Mitch Ryder and The Detroit Wheels Mountain The Turtles Featuring Flo&Eddie The Zombies (!!!) I think I'm just going to get $20 lawn tickets. Because I really don't need to pay top dollar to see a bunch of bands with one or two original members. Though as an avid listener of the local oldies station, I don't see any way this can't be a fun night. At the very least, there should be some interesting people watching.

Me? No, not intentionally at least. It's just diet soda and lowfat milk is what's around the house and I like drinking water
