I really shouldn't criticize anybody's DVD collection really. I have Jaws: The Revenge on DVD for christ's sake and House Party 3!

Well, they went on to play in Cleveland two nights later. So I guess Ric just temporarily disabled Todd. I don't see why the other guys in The New Cars just go on tour with Ric Ocasek. I saw Ric Ocasek give an interview on VH1 Classics where he said he wouldn't mind going on a small 10-15 date tour with the rest of The Cars. I guess you could argue that the other guys want the chance to make more money by going on longer tours. But seriously they'd make more money doing a 10-15 date arena tour than doing a 40-50 date tour of half filled theaters. The New Cars just don't make any sense to me but damn it I wanted to see them!

Yeah, I figured as much. Still, the guy needs to hire a better agent. Everytime I go to the video store (Which is getting more rare these days since I got NetFlix), I see at least one new direct to DVD movie starring him. Maybe he just really likes working, regardless of the potential merit of the project. I think he's fairly talented but some of his movies you couldn't pay me to watch.

"Roadhouse" should never be remade. It's perfectly good as it is in it's stupidity. I think he was referring to Ghost with John Cena in the Patrick Swayze role and Mickie James in The Demi Moore role. I think Booker T would be excellent in the Whoopi Goldberg role, of course there'd have to be a few tweaks in the script.

Like Superman Returns. Now I liked Superman Returns, but I'm not sure if he even had a single line in the movie. He must have been a really huge Superman fan and begged the producers to let him have some kind of role because I can't imagine the casting director being like "You know who would be great as one of Luthor's henchmen? Kumar!"

I think a lot of it has to do that Oz's main competition(during it's best years) was with The Sopranos which is such a "sexy" theme and contains such familiar subject matter, I mean who doesn't like "mob drama" I know a lot of people that refuse to watch Oz because the fear of "gay sex" well guess what, it's about Maxium Security PRISON, the shit happens. I wasn't saying the gay sex stuff in prison was unrealistic. That's very realistic. It's tunelling in Chinese migrant workers that's a bit insane. I've never watched the show because of the fear of gay sex, I've never watched it because it didn't sound very appealing. The anal rape joke I made a while back was a joke. Whatever, the unpredictablity of it all is what it makes it so appealing to it's fan. I'm not going to aruge anymore against a show that I've barely seen.

I mean, from what I've read about Oz in reviews, it sounds like an R rated male soap opera. The plot sounds ridiculous. I mean reading about the later seasons, the plots reach an almost Passions level of absurdity. Granted, I haven't seen more than 10-15 minutes of it at a time. I can't argue too much against a show I haven't watched.

I've missed three opportunities to see him live in the past three years (Well really, two and a half since one of the shows was The New Cars). The first show was on Cinco De Mayo in 2004 but I couldn't go because I was rehearsing for a play. Then, I spent April vacation in Baltimore in 2005 and he was playing a club there the night that we went home. Then, I actually bought tickets to see The New Cars last Sunday but then they cancelled the show due to low ticket sales.

Or Click for that matter. Though I thought Little Nicky had one or two momentss that were worthy of a light chuckle, that's just me though.

Listen I've only seen bits and pieces of Oz, and most of it seems to be later years. But the sheer ridiculousness and far fetchedness really didn't interest me. That and the anal rape. The anal rape is a big turn off.

A fucking men. Family Guy was a lot more enjoyable when it was on air during its first run and no one was watching it. Then the DVD came out and we all had to show our annoying friends. I haven't even watched Family Guy regularly since it came back on. I've seen an episode here or there but it just isn't the same. Stupid stupid damn teenagers, always overquoting stuff!

I fucking tried to fucking watch this cocksucker, but I couldn't get past the goddamn fucking dialogue... it was a fucking cunt. You know what I mean, asshole? I'd agree with the Ric Flair statement. Except I'd add that once in a great while, there's a brief peek that shows you a little tiny glimpse of what made it great during it's hey day and then it's followed by a bunch of stuff that's undeniably shitty. But I'd also disagree, while the latter days of The Simpsons and Ric Flair's careers are embarassing. I don't think they tarnish or bog down the show's reputation. In spite of lasting decades after their prime (Well The Simpsons has almost lasted a decade since it's prime), it's still undisputably one of the greatest shows of all time. In my mind, the peak years of The Simpsons and Ric Flair completely trump the crappy later years. I don't think anybody can deny that Ric Flair and The Simpsons are some of the greatest in their respective fields. But I still stand by my statement that every new episode of The Simpsons elicits a couple of chuckles from me. But I still maintain that it's one of the five best sitcoms on network televisiion. I can name three off the top of my head (The Office, My Name is Earl and Scrubs) that are definitely better than The Simpsons. Again, it's sad that a show that reached it's peak almost ten years ago is still one of the better sitcoms on TV. I think the American sitcom is just slowly coming up from hitting rock bottom and it's going to be a long way back if it ever gets there.

Season Three is the weakest season, IMO. Though, it's still pretty fucking great. It feels a bit like a rehash of Season One and a set up for Season Four. Still definitely worth seeing, the last three or four episodes are incredibly compelling storytelling. I think Season Two of The Wire is underrated, a lot of people didn't like it since it dealt a lot with something other than The Barksdale organization and what The Wire usually deals with but I liked it for that reason. It's definitely on par with Season One and the current season. Alright here's my statement; Despite having jumped the shark 7-8 years ago and being way past its prime, The Simpsons still is among the top 5 best comedies on network television (Top 10 on television overall). Even though the plots are incredibly insipid, the show is still good for a couple of chuckles, which sadly, is a couple more than about 75% of sitcoms on television. This isn't a testement to The Simpsons quality but just a reflection on the sad state of the American sitcom.

I saw an edited version of that on TV a couple years and I got to admit for what it is- it ain't bad. A holiday classic? No, but I think it's a pretty enjoyable film.

Haven't seen much of Deadwood but I've got to say that unquestionably that The Wire is the best drama on television. It transcends being a simple television drama and becomes an incredibly detailed look at the city of Baltimore. I don't think there's ever been a bad episode and there literally is not a weak spot in the cast- everybody serves up a purpose or as the specials HBO airs to hype the show- everything is connected.

I've heard worse ideas for movie to TV adapatations. I thought that the movie could have been a lot better, it seemed to try to fit too many things into a 90 minute movie. Great concept but only decent execution.

I guess they ended "tradition" of having a doubleheader on Thanksgiving (Not much of a tradition, it only started 2 or 3 years ago). It's too bad, it was something to watch on Thanksgiving nights even if the games did really suck. I'm betting this is somehow due to the third NFL game being added to Thanksgiving. Either that or they were afraid of being crushed in the ratings by The Predators-Canucks Thanksgiving night game!

Figured this comment would fit best in here, doesn't really deserve it's own thread. But Jim Gaffigan is coming on February 17th and I'm damn sure I'm going to get tickets. He's got to be one of my favorite living stand up comics.

Aw man, I just started getting into his work. I watched Short Cuts for the first time about two weeks ago and what a great movie. At least he lived a long fulfilling life, making movies on his own terms. RIP

I liked the monologue and the Hypin' The Classics skit but it seemed to kind of go down hill afterwards. Ludacris had better than I expected comedic chops but the premises were just terrible. And I concur, way too much Maya Rudolph on this show. Hopefully, The Matthew Fox episode will be better though I have my doubts. I think with this season, the show is only as good as it's host.

I agree with Downhome, just a great show. I think this season has slowly been building momentum throughout and I must say I've been enjoying it. Sure some of the episodes have been a bit mediocre (The first three episodes come to mind) but it seems like this whole season they've been swinging for the fences with these bizarre premises. My expectations are low for tomorrow night's show but hey I liked Ludacris in Hustle&Flow and Crash, I guess stranger hosts have done a good job as SNL hosts than him.

A triple bill in late '01/early '02, Weezer was headlining, Tenacious D were the main openers and Jimmy Eat World were first on the bill (This was right as "The Middle" was breaking on the radio). I'm not a huge fan of JEW (I used the abbreviation just because it's 10x funnier that way) but I saw Weezer last summer and they were great and I love me some Tenacious D. I couldn't go because it was a school night and this was when I was too young to go to shows on school nights. Damn parents!

I thought that was more likely and plausible than the WWE helped orchestrate the cancellation. I mean that's like The NFL cancelling an Arena Football game. Yeah sure Arena Football has it's following but it isn't anywhere near the level of popularity of the NFL. However, Meltzer says Steve Lombardi was somehow involved....
