No! There were actual words! Besides I would have won that spelling bee but I was robbed! They didn't want to see the foreigner win the prize!
-
Triple post- how did that happen?

OOOPS Double post

I was in the schoolwide spelling bee in 8th grade back in the day and I came in 8th out of 30 (Yes yes, I tend to brag about pass glories) and they hit the bell when you got one letter wrong.

I guess I should make a comment in this thread. When I listen to his music, I just imagine Kamala in full make up and what not playing a cheap keyboard and singing, while Harvey Whippleman looks on and cackles about how the record is gonna go platinum and whatnot.

I bought Queen+Paul Rodgers tickets. I know it won't be the same as the original Queen or anything like that but it should be a fun nostalgia trip. I'm a huge Queen and Bad Company fan so it should be the worth the price of admission.

Hey, any song that samples Martika is fine by me.

Yeah I remembered Artie Lange after I made that post. I wouldn't say he's had a more successful post MadTV career than Orlando Jones. I mean for a while, people thought Orlando Jones could star in a movie and host a successful talk show (Does anybody besides me remember his extremely short lived talk show on FX like two years ago).
-
Here's a sign of MadTV's suckiness. Despite the fact it's been on for something like 11 seasons, none of the long running cast members have really had any sort of post MadTV success. Will Sasso is on Less Than Perfect or some ABC shitcom and Alex Bornstein's had a few supporting parts in flop movies and is Lois on Family Guy, but other than that nobody has done anything after MadTV. The most successful former MadTV castmember was Orlando Jones (who was only on for a season) who starred in a string of shitty movies for like two years and now has all of a sudden disappeared.

I've watched dozens of MadTV skits and I've chuckled maybe two or three times. Maybe. I remember reading a quote in Entertainment Weekly, someone was saying Michael McDonald was the funniest man in television because "He never lost it and started cracking up onstage" and I thought to myself "Cause nothing he's ever in is funny!". The two MadTV castmembers I've ever liked are Will Sasso and Frank Caliendo ( I like really good impressionists, what can I say?), the rest can stay toiling in obscurity for all I care.

Yeah and Barry Horowitz Vs Skip was a decent, albeit slightly boring match. Heck, I remember The Undertaker Vs Kama casket match being like **, do I have a bad memory or am I right?
-
I wonder if anybody goes to the show expecting to see Bozo or a live action Krusty tussle with King Kong Bundy.

I think 92 is the only one that has that WrestleMania feel to me being at Wembley Stadium with 80,000 people there. Plus it's a damn fine card. My favorite SummerSlams are 91, 92, and 94. I also find SummerSlam 93 to be underrated, outside of Giant Gonzalez/Undertaker, every match is either too quick to be terrible or decent. Lex Luger Vs Yokozuna is by some miracle, a ** match. Bam Bam and The Headshrinkers Vs Tatanka and The Smoking Gunns is shockingly good, the whole Bret Hart segment is kick ass and despite being a massive disapointment, HBK-Mr. Perfect is still a decent enough match. I dunno why but there's always been a soft spot in my heart for Summerslam 93.

I didn't know Aeon Flux was coming out THIS weekend. *shrugs* I was hoping that it would be a major success so they could make some other 90s MTV shows into movies *Crosses fingers and hopes for Sifl & Olly: The Movie*

It'll be like a black Family Ties! CBS better make this!

I was watching The Dream Team Vs The Million Dollar Team from Survivor Series 90 on WWE 24/7 Online and when The Hart Foundation enter, Roddy and Gorilla mention that one of Bret's brother's, Dean passed away the day before. Was Dean a non-wrestling Hart brother? How did he pass?

You know, New Orleans had some damn empty arena shots last year. This year they are selling out in Oklahoma City. In addition, they, while not good by any stretch, are markedly improved from last year's crap. Think they're gone? Knowing about George Shinn they just might be. Although Oklahoma City seems like one hell of a boring city to put an NBA team in.

I saw a split screen picture in an old PWI back in 94ish, on one side was a picture of Flair Vs Andre from 1976 (They mentioned it was runner up for match of the year that year) and on the other side was Flair facing off with El Gigante from a WCW House Show in the early 90s. I've always wondered how well Flair carried El Gigante. Another question for another thread.

I went to G. Love/Blackalicious last night. The bill blended together surprisingly well and the venue was almost packed which surprised me.

NY Daily News is reporting Carlos Delgado is being traded to the Mets for prospects. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2234421 It's the Marlins fire sale part deux

I'm going to the Celtics/Bobcats game at the TD FleetNorth GardenCenter/whatever the fuck it's called now. I'm glad I only paid $10 to see this matchup of epic proportions.

The only way I can explain that is Kanye's been a producer for a couple years now. But even then, I think he's only been producing 5 or so years. Plus, it's the Billboard Music Awards, if you're taking it somewhat seriously, you're missing a few fries in your Happy Meal.

My friend went to a 50 Cent concert at the local minor league hockey rink about two years ago (A few months after he released his first album). Fabulous opened and played a half hour and then Fiddy came on and played 40 minutes, show over. I know 50 Cent only had one album at the time, but come on, why are you doing that show in front of an 8000 seat arena? I also heard 50 was completely out of breath by the end of the concert. I'm glad I didn't go to that show. On that same vein, Ashlee Simpson came here and according to everyone, played an hour. I'm not really surprised at that, for someone with two albums and for the venues, she's playing, an hour seems to be the right length for a show.

Well this is an old rumor (according to the article) circa 98-99 (From after Batman and Robin came out). Still, I don't even think Bret at his prime, as much as I like him, could pull of the role of the caped crusader very well.
