WCW facts, tidbits, and stuff people forgot
King Kamala replied to JoeDirt's topic in General Wrestling
Nah, I was reading up on DDT Digest and there was a set up for a Hulk Hogan-Sid feud that went nowhere. On the second to last Thunder before Russo and Bischoff showed up, Sid chokeslammed Jimmy Hart and placed a contract on Jimmy's chest (Presumably for Hogan to sign for the main event match at Spring Stampede). Although the Hogan-Wall match on the Nitro before Russo-Bischoff came back, had a cheap finish (Vampiro ran in and caused a DQ for no reason, gotta love WCW's random booking). One final question, what the heck was up with Lenny and Lodi for no apparent reason becoming 2XS and being named Lane and Rave? All of a sudden they were called 2XS, not overtly gay, and managed by Miss Hancock. -
I don't think it's smart comedy all and this is coming from someone who saw it in theaters three times. It's very hit or miss, very dry humor. I guess some people think dry humor=smart humor, but I don't believe that's the case.

He never really left, he just lost about 99% of his fan base. He's released like three albums since his hey day (The one where he had dreads, the one where that was produced by Ross Robinson, and a *shudder* double album)

What would have happened to WCW in early 2000 in terms of storyline, if Russo and Bischoff never came back? I think they were headed towards a Hogan/Sid storyline (shudders) and massive pushes for Vampiro and the Wall. -
I can't believe it's success, it's basically a slightly more mainstream palatable, family friendly, Wes Anderson movie. Good flick though.

I figured something out, even at it's peak (97-98), WCW was still #2 in the Northeast US and Canada. I know WCW probably dominated the south for most of the 90's. So in the midwest during the Monday Night Wars, was WCW or WWF more popular? -
Michael Jackson and Queen is what I listened to as a youngster. I had quite the taste as a youngster, better musical sense then I have now.

What's Thrasher up to these days you ask?
King Kamala replied to Placebo Effect's topic in General Wrestling
Huh, were you that drunk owner? But seriously good for Thrasher, that's he's making some dough after his wrestling career. Get it , dough? hahahaha -
I believe Nothing But Trouble killed the most careers in a single film. John Candy, Dan Akroyd and Chevy Chase were all never really that good after that piece of tripe. Dan Akroyd's developed into a serviceable enough character actor but hasn't starred or even had a supporting part in anything good since and John Candy starred in a bunch of crap in the year or two before his death. As for Chevy Chase, well we've already trashed him too much in this thread. The only one whose career survived entact was Demi Moore.

I wonder what kind of crowd the Ashlee Simpson tour is going to draw? Either A. Her adoring Hillary Duff loving, inept, teenage girl fans or B. People going to mock her/seeing if she's the "real deal". I'm guessing both, she's playing 5,000-6,000 seat venues with no name opening acts, which seems a little to big for her to me.

Ditto, he's always seemed to be incredibly elitist. Like he's saying, "The only good music is the music I listen to and everything else sucks!" and he's always bitching about selling out. Hello? Working for MTV, despite the fact you absolutely hate 99.99999999999999% of the bands on there isn't selling out? Although I do agree with his assesment of Juilya, I fucking hate that chick.

I believed in Santa until about fourth grade so I figured out he was fake when I was...11? Somebody actually was talking about how Santa was fake and I was like "No is he isn't!" then I thought about the logics and realized he was fake.

It was Ian Robinson's top 20 albums of the year, overall. But that happened to be the only non-metal album on there.

How long do you think before Billy Beane leaves in a huff and becomes GM of the Yanks? I'm thinking 2007, he'll put up with the rebuilding for a bit and then just get tired of not being able to get the cheapest of free agents and leave.

Am I the only one pumped for the Queen reunion tour? Paul Rodgers, despite getting mixed reviews from most concert reviews I've read of his solo shows recently, was great when I saw him live in June of 03 and on the Bad Company live DVD from 2002. I may be the only one who doesn't think Brian May and whatever the name of the drummer is (Roger Taylor?) are cashing in on the death of Freddy Mercury. If they were doing that, they would have done this tour twelve years ago. And does anybody, really care about the fact the bassist of Queen is a recluse and doesn't want to be on the tour?

What the hell was Shango doing back there? Taking a dump? That's the only reason I can think of cause there must be a bazillion monitors backstage.

I'll say my as of now playoff predictions for the western conference since everyone else is; 1. Phoenix 2. San Antonio 3. Seattle 4.Minnesota 5. Sacremento 6. Los Angeles Lakers 7. Dallas 8. Denver/Portland

Yeah, after reading there site, they're a novelty band featuring one of the members of Bad Religion. So it is a side project, but not a side project of any of the cast members of Jackass.

Yeah, but who else was there in terms of babyfaces in WCW on the roster at the time? And it's a WarGames match, they don't neccessarily even have to acknowledge each other really. And besides on the 1/25/99 Nitro, the main event was a six man tag between Ric Flair, Chris Benoit and Mongo McMichael(I didn't even know Mongo was still around at that point) Vs Hollywood Hogan, Kevin Nash and Big Poppa Pump. -
Alright, I have a question but I don't think it warrants a thread. Is Jackass(The Band) a side project of CKY (The band) or just other members of the cast of Jackass? Are that many castmembers of Jackass musically knowledgeable?

If there had been a WarGames at FallBrawl 99, who do you think would have been in it? My most logical guess would be; The Hulkamaniacs (Hulk Hogan, Sting, Goldberg, Bret Hart, Chris Benoit) Vs The Millenium Men (DDP, Sid, Rick Steiner, Lex Luger and mystery partner) The mystery partner would have been the turning Sting, I guess. Do you think Benoit, Bret Hart and DDP could have carried the other seven stiffs in the match? My answer is no, look up half assing it and you see a picture of Bret Hart in WCW (There were a few exceptions I'll admit). -
I was looking on Pollstar and I saw that Survivor is playing a gig at a campground in North Carolina opening up for Starship. Imagine walking out of your tent and seeing a bunch of overweight guys in there fifties blaring We Built This City. I just found out there was a John Lee Hooker Jr....and he only started recording after his dad's death. Yeah this guy isn't trying to cash in on his father's legend.

Yeah, wouldn't surprise me if Downeast Maine worshipped the lobster (Downeast Maine is the tourist trap of Maine and has been slammed in several articles online).

Worst greatest hits album I've ever bought was Nazareth's Greatest Hits live. I bought it al Wal-Mart for like four or five bucks and the world live was in super small font. I wouldn't have been so mad if it had the word live in readable font. Not only was it a live CD with shoddy quality, it was recorded live in 1998 so it wasn't even prime Nazareth. Even though I bought it only for Hair of the Dog, I felt gipped.
