King of the Ring 1999 should be considered one of the worst PPVs of all time. I'm trying to find a good match on the card and the best I can come up with is the Austin-McMahons ladder match which was **1/2 at the very best.

Why the (then) fringe contender that upset him in the first place. That's right....the return of James "Buster" Douglas. C'mon millions would pay for it.

We're around the fifth anniversary of the last Woodstock. I pondered which bands would I book if I had say an assload of money. These are the thing I'd personally put these into consideration 1. No hard rock bands or metal bands. Sorry if I anger any metalheads on the board. But if you put a massive crowd and a metal band. Their will always be a load of dumbass frat boys that are there simply to fuck shit up. 2. Make the concert free again. I wouldn't totally make it devoid of corporate sponsonship. But I'd make it a bit more subtle. Anyway here's a list of headliners I'd put on therre. I'll come up with my list of bands later after some more pondering. So what would you do. Make it a Norweigian black metal fest? Perhaps the polka festival to end all polka festivals? Christian ska music? Your choice.

Before Paul Stanley jumps on here. KISS Destroyer Detroit Rock City: 9 King of The Night Time World: 8 God Of Thunder: 9 Great Expectations: 4 (Totally bizarre song. It's no wonder why they rarely perform this live) Flaming Youth:7 Sweet Pain: 6 Shout It Out Loud: 7 Beth: 6 Do You Love Me?: 9 Good album, probably KISS defining studio album. But a little too much filler to be called a classic.

He he I was startled this morning, I woke up at 6:30 and on the radio it was this little kid talking about Hulk Hogan. It peaked my interest so I listened to it, Brooke Hogan is opening up for Kimberly Locke (2nd runner up on the 2nd American Idol) at a local Amusement park and the ol Hulkster's gonna be hosting the event. I'm tempted to see this whole debacle, but then again I might be surrounded by a bunch of crazed obsessed American Idol fans. Then again it is the Hulkster.

Cool/Historic Stuff You've Seen Live

Yep, from about May to October 98 after getting fired from WWF. I think one Nitro, Tony Schivone said "This Week on Thunder, Marty Janetty debuts." Something to that effect. Janetty won a few squash matches against guys like Super Calo and Silver King (I think I saw him beat the legendary Kendall Windham at the TV taping. Eventually Janetty became a JTTS. I can't remember any storylines he was in and quite frankly I don't think he was in any. On that note at the same taping I saw Jim Neidhart and The British Bulldog team up against Disorderly Contact. Man WCW wasted those guys, even though all three were washed up, Bulldog and The Anvil could have been legit challengers for the WCW Tag title. And Jannetty was still decent enough, I'm sure he could have been a decent TV title holder. -
The only shirt I ever bought, wrestling-wise is the classic Goldberg shirt. With Goldberg in yellow lettering on front and Who's Next on the back. Strangely enough, everybody thought the shirt had something to do with inventer Rube Goldberg. My teacher got really excited that I was wearing a shirt promoting the great inventer but was disapointed on finding it was the professional wrestler, Bill Goldberg. On second thought, I did own a swank XFL t-shirt that had the logos of all the teams on it. But I lost the damn thing. I bought it a couple of months after XFL went belly up for $3.

On this note William Shatner is releasing another album produced by Ben Folds and guest starring Henry Rollins and Robert Fripp of King Crimson. I know I'll rush out to buy that on the first day along with William Hung's follow up album (All original songs BAYBEE!)

Cool/Historic Stuff You've Seen Live

Hmm very little, alright the first show I went to was a Superstars taping in 94. The taping featured the Owen Hart Vs Bret Hart lumberjack match on (correct me if I'm wrong) Wam! Bam! Bodyslam! That match might have been the best lumberjack match of all time (IE It didn't suck). The show also saw the debut of.... *pause for dramatic effect* Duke "The Dumpster" Droese who wrestled Bastion Booger (A ***** affair no doubt). And the main event was Lex Luger Vs The Fake Undertaker, I think this was during the feud between Lex Luger and Ted DiBiase's stable of really shitty wrestlers. Second show was a house show in July of 96, so pretty much nothing there. Except it did feature Sid before he made his television debut. Everyone was expecting The Ultimate Warrior Vs The British Bulldog, but no the Warrior was nowhere to be found (A shock if there ever was one) and Sid replaced him. I remember being confused since I watched little WCW as a little kid, I wondered what the hell Sid Justice was doing there and why the hell is he all of a sudden a good guy? The actual match was a really short squash, I think Sid just kicked Bulldog in the gut and then powerbombed him for the win (And somewhere Bob Barron cried). Then there was a WCW Saturday Night Taping, I still remember the date, May 19 1998. For a WCW Saturday Night taping it was pretty star studded. I remember one of Marty Jannetty's first (and only) WCW matches, the only reason I remember this is because it was the only time I've gotten a chanted started. The show also featured one of the best of seven matches between Booker T and Chris Benoit (I think it was match three or four). David Penzer promised a main event between a member of NWO Hollywood and NWO Wolfpac. It ended up being The Giant Vs Konan. The other two were WWF/WWE house shows in November of 01 and June of 02. Nothing happened really at either except at 02 show, I saw Rey Mysterio Jr before his TV debut. -
What the hell was up with Randy Savage during the later years of WCW. From summer of 99 on, he just seemingly disappeared and they never mentioned it. Was he released? I remember he was supposed to make a big comeback in early 00 during Kevin Sullivan's horrific booking reign to feud with Sid and Savage actually appeared on a few house shows at the time. But nothing ever came of it.

Celebrity MCs would be used, Dave Attell would host the main stage with various celebs popping into introduce bands., -
I've only seen several concerts, so I'll condense it to top three. 3. Paul Rodgers (With opening act Kansas); Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom, Hampton Beach, New Hampshire. June 28, 2003. Terrible venue that looked like a huge Holiday Inn Venue. Opening act that played way too long (To be fair I think it was a double headliner show). This only makes the list cause A. Paul Rodgers delivered the hits. B. The Other concerts I went to were either A. Brief or B. Not so good. 2. Weird Al Yankovic (Opening Act: Some bad Jewel ripoff); State Theater, Portland, Maine. October 31, 1999. Weird Al did a highly entertaining set with many costume changes and good in between song banter. Didn't like the fact about 1/3rd of the setlist were medleys, but other then that it was damn good. 1. ZZ Top (Opening Act: Ted Nugent); Cumberland County Civic Center, Portland, Maine. September 3, 2003. Both sets did fairly short sets and cranked up the amps to eleven. Hell, they didn't even play that many new songs (A plus for nostalgia acts). I'm sure Prince will replace ZZ Top at the number one spot when I see him in a couple of weeks at the Fleet Center.
-
Wow Bowie is #1. I'm surprised, I knew he would be in the top ten range but not #1. The only two acts on that list I would see are Bowie and Prince (I actually do have tickets for Prince). Anyone know how the Van Halen reunion is doing? I heard that some arenas aren't even sold out. Shows Eddie, that nobody really wants to see Van Hagar. I also heard that some of the KISS/Poison shows are getting cancelled due to poor ticket sales. I was really excited when I heard the Darkness might be added to the bill as an opening act, but alas some unknown band got the opening act gig.
-
I got tickets to see Prince at the Fleet Center in August. No opening acts, just two and a half straight hours of audio bliss. Although as I stated in an earlier thread, would it hurt for Prince to take Morris Day and the Time along with him as an opening act?

My dad was talking about missing the opportunity to go to Black Sabbath on one of their first US tours and he said the opener was Mungo Jerry(One hit wonder. Did In The Summertime). That strikes me as very odd. Jackyl as the lone hairband at Woodstock 94 is very weird. I was reading the names of the acts, Metallica, Green Day, Primus, NIN, Jackyl....Jackyl!? Jackyl seems much more like a band that would be at Woodstock 89 then 94 (Man imagine how bad a Woodstock 89 would have been). The Hives were talking about opening up for Metallica and Slipknot at a festival in Europe. I can imagine all the mullet heads saying a spontaneous "What the hell is this pussy shit?" The Hives said they went over well and then those guys do joke a lot. Of course there's the famous The Monkees and Jimi Hendrix bills. But if anybody has watched Head (And I'm sure almost none of you have) then you probably wouldn't be too shocked. So what bands on concert bills, made you scratch your head and say "Why the fuck are they there?"

Man I love that Games Without Frontiers song by Peter Gabriel. Jeux sans frontiers! Anyways here's my list: I don't know what to call it this one, um Best Of Both Worlds AC/DC Van Halen (AC/DC and Van Halen would each do 90 minute sets) Ted Nugent (The perfect opening act) Ummm, the KISS and makeup tour KISS Alice Cooper Twisted Sister AquaNet and Rogaine present Glamfest Stage One: Motley Crue The Scorpions Tesla Skid Row Stage Two Quiet Riot Warrant Dokken Ratt LA Guns Jackyl Stage Three: Slaughter Faster Pussycat Enuff Z Nuff Pretty Boy Floyd Firehouse Kix ^Ladies and gentlemen that's a lineup of god right there. Now let me explain myself. I've always wanted to go one of those hair band concerts where they do a random assortment of them. With this concert the people would get almost ALL of THEM! Muhahahahahahaha. Speaking of desired tours, one of my least desired tours has actually came to fruitation. Yanni and Michael Bolton. *Shudders*

Frank Castillo's starting today against Rodreigo Lopez. Castillo's not great but he's probably a bit safer option then BK Kim.
-
Red Sox: Manny Ramirez Curt Schilling Pedro Martinez

I'm at the first game of the Red Sox/Orioles doubleheader tommorow. the Red Sox still haven't announced who is starting. I bet we see the return of *shudder* BK Kim or worst case scenario whatever PawSox pitcher is next in their rotation. Any Major League ready starters in the Red Sox farm system alkeiper?

What's the loudest band you've ever seen live.
King Kamala replied to Giuseppe Zangara's topic in Music
I also saw Ted Nugent opening for ZZ Top . He was pretty god damn loud, but I wasn't too close to the stage and the acoustics in the arena were shit. -
I was going to mention that. But that seems really suspicious to me, the first time I heard it was from a Metallica hater. Maybe it happened, to piss off the metal heads I'll say I'd rather see Phil Collins. *Runs away singing Su-Su Sudio*
