Damn. Three straight rock solid selections. "Homer Goes To College" is one I had assumed had already been picked when I made my last choice and thus didn't think of it and "The Springfield Files" was one I strongly considered for my last one. I said earlier that "The City of New York Vs Homer Simpson" was the last great episode of The Simpsons IMHO. Well, IMHO "Behind The Laughter" was the last really good one.

Aw man- that whole period of the cruisweight title from when Lenny Lane won the title till Russo and Bischoff came back in April '00 and stripped Prince Iaukea of the title just killed that division. I thought no matter how bad WCW got, the Cruiserweight division would always be at least pretty good. I thought wrong. Oh and that brings to mind Evan Karagias. That guy was bland as plain toast. I liked Three Count but even as a mark, I could tell he was the weakest link of that group. Certainly didn't deserve a push to The Cruiserweight title and at the time he won the title, I thought the division hit rock bottom. Again, unfortunately, I thought wrong.

Well like mellow, I can't say I ever wanted someone to fail, I was relieved whenever WCW decided to end their biyearly pushes for Van Hammer and Prince Iaukea. Those guys were just so boring. Boring as faces, boring as heels. I'd say the same about Chris Masters. Didn't want to see the guy fail but I was relieved WWE finally just gave up on him being the next big thing.

Graham Parker is playing this supersmall club here in Portland in late March. Hopefully he's still good live if not-eh, I'm only out $20 and I can say I saw him.

Season Four, Episode Three Homer The Heretic Homer: Kids, let me tell you about another so-called "wicked guy". He had long hair and some wild ideas, and he didn't always do what other people thought was right. And that man's name was... I forget. But the point is... I forget that either. I've never even heard of spork fighting. Seems like a poor man's paper football. Back in The Summer of '96, me and my brothers attended a summer daycamp where everybody was huge into play wrestling and we'd all pretend we were real life WCW and WWF guys. I remember three of my older brothers' friends were the nWo and amusingly enough like their real life counterparts, they dominated the play wrestling scene that summer. I was Shawn Michaels and my brother was Eddie Guerrero. Oh and there was this big fat fuck who was The Giant, he was the hugest (figuratively and literally) wrestling fan I had met up until that point. Had a huge tape collection. He won all of our battle royals. Damn him.

Well when I started watching, we were in the dregs of The New Generation and Hogan had just showed up in WCW and stunk everything up. It wasn't particularly cool or uncool, just not on the radar for the most of us. There was another kid in my grade who claimed that Ted DiBiase was his Uncle and that always fascinated me. Then when The Attitude era hit, it became really cool for a year or two. Virtually every guy in my classes from 3rd grade to 6th grade watched it (From around '97 to '01). I remember RAW coming to Portland for the first (and only) time the night after In Your House: DeGeneration X was a monumental event and almost every male in my third grade class except me went. I'm still pissed at my parents for not letting me go to that. On the other hand though, I was the only person in that same class that attended the first (and only) WCW show in Portland a few nights after Slamboree. The other guys revelled in my stories about that momentous Saturday Night taping. Another mildly wrestling related event that happened that year was me getting reprimanded by a lunch aide (People-mostly kids' parents who watched over us while the teachers took a break) for telling her to "suck it" (and not in a good way!). Around '01/'02, I gradually started hearing less and less about wrestling. By high school, the only ones who watched it were scrubs and the occasional jock (and me!). And even the scrubs weren't entirely loyal, I remember a classroom conversation during one of my remedial math classes where everybody seemed to come to a consensus that WWE started going downhill when Kane lost his mask. I remember Kane and/or Goldberg was the favorite wrestler for every scrub wrestling fan I met during my school days. Kind of odd but also sort of makes sense.

I'll do it by company... WWF: Survivor Series '90 (Almost entirely because it's a tape I rented a ton when I was a kid. I loved the concept of The Ultimate Survivors match and The Ultimate Warriors Vs The Perfect Team and The Dream Team Vs The Million Dollar Team matches) WrestleMania VIII (IMHO- this PPV really felt like the end of a generation of wrestling what with Hogan and Piper's last WWF matches for a while. A hell of a fun show even if it tails off a ton in the second half) WrestleMania X-7 ( Cliche answer but it's still for my money, the best show WWF/E has ever put on. Hardly a bad match on the card and the bad matches are at least very quick. Heck, I thought they also gave it the feel of an old school WrestleMania where they tried to fit every guy on the card. Anyways, great great show) WCW: Starrcade '95 (Unique and more importantly very good show. Lot of interesting stuff here; the WCW Vs New Japan tournament, the first triangle match in the Big Two IIRC, and no Hogan! I just always loved the feel of this one. Sort of foreshadowed the international flavor WCW's undercard would have for the next few years) SuperBrawl VIII (I might be alone on this one but I rented the hell out of this one too as a mark. This is IMHO the show that Starrcade '97 should have been. You've got the great undercard so typical of WCW PPVs of this era and the main events didn't suck as much as they usually did. Plus you've got the debut of Big Poppa Pump!) Spring Stampede '99: The last truly great WCW PPV. ECW Heatwave '98: Again, sort of a cliched answer but a lot of ECW PPVs felt cluttered and a bit too spontaneous for my liking but this one worked for me.

Oh good lord yes. Another famous series in wrestling history that was absolutely horrible. Now their '83 and '85 matches weren't sights for sore eyes but I saw an MSG match from their brief feud in '89 that ranks amongst the worst matches I've seen from a major promotion. I was going to post it here for you to revel in its awfulness but it looks like it's not on YouTube or DailyMotion. Of course, we also can't forget that match they had at The Spectrum (I think in '83) with the nine minute headlock.

I think you're nuts. Outside of their later WCW matches, I thought all of the Hogan/Savage matches were decent to good.

Oh come on, I haven't been that much of a post whore so far. Besides I'm about to go off for the night and watch Rocky IV. I think that'll leave me sufficiently pumped up and allow me to sleep.

You have a point there, Czech but I think "25 or 6 to 4" alone makes up for all the crap. Heck, I like their first two albums in general but yeah...after that, it gets pretty terrible.

Speaking of douchebags, there was a friend of a friend back in high school that would always brag about getting kicked out of the mall in what I believe was an attempt to sound badass. Really getting hassled by rent-a-cops is about as bad ass as jaywalking.

The Great TSM Wrestling survey and thinking about how my interest in wrestling started brought this up. Figured it would be a fun topic. Despite the fact that my dad was the one who directly introduced me to wrestling and the fact that he attended WWWF shows regularly in the mid to late '60s when he was a young teenager, I never remember him liking it all of that much. And as we grew up, his disdain grew even further. This peaked when he was forced to accompany us to a WWE house show in July '02 where he complained the entire night. From then on, me and my brother just got dropped off at shows until we could drive ourselves. There were some odd exceptions that he enjoyed, he liked the Bra & Panties and other gratuitous T&A matches (not Test and Albert) and for some reason, he got a huge kick out of the comedy acts. He still brings up Cloudy, the Bodydonnas ugly transvestite manager every once in a while. He also really liked Rikishi and Too Cool and would sit and watch their matches. Those type of matches are the ones I think would drive the non-viewer away but they were the only ones Dad liked. Anyways, despite not liking wrestling at all, he took us to house shows and ordered PPVs. I don't think if it were for him, I'd be a fan. To this day, I wonder if he mildly regrets asking me if I wanted to rent a wrestling video. Oh and my Mom really didn't seem to like it at all and she was disgusted Inside Edition segment chronicling the seamier aspects of Attitude Era WWF which ended with Vince McMahon "attacking" the reporter who was grilling him (Does anyone else remember this?) but she never stopped us from watching it except I think we had to watch Nitro instead of RAW for a weeks after that.

Hey man, I drank a Xyience Xenergy drink. It's the official beverage of UFC! Wasn't nearly as bad as I thought though after listening to air drumming along to every Buddy Rich clip on YouTube and watching a few episodes of Freaks and Geeks, I was plum tired. Passed around 5 or so. Though I just drank the other one I bought. This stuff's actually pretty good. Zero calories, Sugar free, no high fructose corn syrup. Tastes a bit like Sprite and only a buck. I just drank another one now. PREPARE FOR SOME HARD BOARDING TONIGHT!

They're both fairly young, at least a year or two younger than me and I considered myself a whippersnapper around these parts. I just got the difference between the two about a month ago. The trick is Someone Great/Cyber Mark/Mr. Glasscock is British, At Home is friends with Milky and used to live in Hawaii. Hope that helped.
