    Chansons!

Fuck yes! My 7th and 8th grade French teacher always played "Les Champs Elysees" at the beginning of the class while we did warm-up writing exercises. There was this one dork who would spazz out when she played and would play air saxophone. That kid is now the drummer for a Christian rock band.

    I can't change my name...

You know my opinion on this matter may not hold much credence but with all due respect to Limey Mcwhatshisface and Sensei John Kreese, I think the only one who can pull off the constant name change is Czech.

The Master of Side Dishes Tournament

Corn on The Cob: Even though I didn't vote for it in the last round, I'm going to have to vote for it in this one. For me, no food (except possibly watermelon) definies summer for me more than corn on the cob. French Fries: White rice is good but it really shouldn't have gone much further than the 2nd round. French Fries may be the definitive side dish. I love them in all of their forms; crinkle cut, shoe string, curly, steak, wedges (although wedges may be a slightly different breed than the fry)

Spring 2008 WWE Future Endeavors Thread

The more I think about it I realize Val Venis is to The Attitude Era what Tito Santana was to the Hulkamania era. Both good, solid workers who were in the IC title scene for their first few years in the company before descending into almost complete jobberdom for the majority of their run. Yet they managed to outlast 90% of their contemporaries because they are good company guys. I knew Scotty 2 Hotty was done for when they didn't even bother bringing him up for a house show I went to in Portland in June '06 (Fifteen minutes away from where he was born and raised) and nobody cared that he wasn't on the card.
  10. PAX tried something vaguely like this a couple years ago with a professsional amateur wrestling show. I don't think anybody else here would even remember that show. It only lasted 2 or 3 weeks IIRC.

    DMX Arrested for Vicking it.

When did Invader3k hijack Dandy's account? Seriously though, this isn't the first time DMX has been involved with animal cruelty and he hasn't been a model citizen by any means. So he should be locked up for a long time. If anything, to prevent another season of his reality show and more albums from him.

Comments which don't warrant a thread.

The majority of non original lineup Kiss is terrible, save for a song or two. I will say that Revenge is actually a solid album, mostly because it doesn't sound like a Kiss album. I'm probably the biggest (only?) KISS fan on this board behind Paul Stanley (the poster- whatever happened to him anyways) and that Ecuadorian guy. And even I will admit that there's only about 5 decent songs in the non original lineup canon. I'll take Creatures of the Night (my personal favorite KISS album) and Revenge over anything from the classic era (save maybe Destroyer), but that's because I prefer the more metallic sound versus the regular hard rock of the 70's version. I'll admit that there's only about 1-2 good songs per album from all the albums between those two, but I'm not going to discount that period entirely (notably for "Lick it Up", "Heaven's On Fire", "Thrills in the Night", "Tears Are Falling" and "Forever") Ah- I forgot Creatures of The Night. That's probably my favorite behind Destroyer and the self-titled debut. I should have said non-makeup KISS instead of non-original lineup.

    WWE Smackdown (5/9/2008)

I'm amused by how the announcers talk about how not exciting Vladimir Koslov is. Yeah, that's going to get him over. Throwing a scary looking, foreign heel with no mic skills or discernible personalities might have had some shot at working in 1981 but these days? Not so much.

A PongKong-Milky War of Words has potential to be TSM's equivalent of Mike Tyson Vs "Irish" Mike Jameson. You can guess which one is which. I'm surprised PongKong didn't list "I DRIVE A DODGE STRATUS!" as one of his achievements.

    Elementary Backtrack

Oh, here's an amusing lunchroom anecdote. It was a half-day in 5th grade. For some reason, at Longfellow Elementary (and in middle school IIRC) we had lunch periods during half-days even though we got out at 11:30 but I almost always just ate when I got back home on thos days. Anyways, during this half-day I got really hungry around this lunchtable and having brought in no money or food, I beg off the suckers who bought lunch in the cafeteria that day. A couple people give me their yogurts and I eat them. Then I'm still hungry so a couple more people give me their yogurts. This continued for the rest of that lunch period. By the end of it, I had to have eaten 20 cups of yogurt. Stands to this day as my biggest eating achievement. I think by the end people were applauding. Up until high school, I was pretty much known as the guy who ate a lot and the guy who threw chairs.

    Let's Talk About...

*bump because I'm too lazy to start another Let's Talk About... thread right now and don't want to see this one die* In '97/'98, it was always amusing to see those old WWF lower mid-carders/JTTS WCW signed just for the sake of signing former WWF guys pop up on WCW Saturday Night. Like Greg "The Hammer" Valentine as a babyface, Marty Jannetty, Jim Powers (part of Teddy Long's random stable of babyface jobbers), and Barry Horowitz. Ol' Barry even had a feud on the last episodes of Saturday Night with Alan Funk. I think the feud stemmed from Alan Funk making fun of Barry for losing all of the time (Ironic cause I can't remember the pre Kwee Wee Alan Funk winning a match) and then Barry kept interfering in his matches causing Funk to lose. Unfortunately, WCW Saturday Night into a recap show before we got to see them face off in what surely would have been in an epic match. And I'm disapointed that this thread has gotten nearly twenty replies without a mention of Roadblock. Roadblock was the last of a rare breed of hoss jobbers (though the Big Show has come close to being one at times). Roadblock just amused me to no end.

    Elementary Backtrack

I've got an amusing sex-ed anecdote. At the end of 4th grade, we split the class in half and boys went with the male sex ed teacher and females went with the female sex ed teacher and we had a talk on puberty. The girls got to watch a video in the classroom and we had to go to the moldy ass reading room to have a talk with our teacher. Anyways, the male teacher was a rambling old guy and the way he explained an erection made me and several other kids thought getting an erection involved blood flowing out of the penis when you get sexually aroused. Needless to say, we were horrified. Now I knew what a boner was but I had no idea what the technical term was, hence the confusion.

Fun fact: After ForumPro first appeared on the board and before I realized it was a gimmick, I was going to create a poster named ForumAnti, that was basically a message board poster that hated forums. It probably would have set a precedent as a gimmick poster unknowingly based on a gimmick poster. I'm glad I decided against it though since we already have ashamed wrestling fan.

    TSM Profile: Scott Hall

I've thoroughly enjoyed these threads in the WWE and TNA folders so I thought why not start one here? And what better choice to kick this series off than with one of wrestling's most controversial figures, Scott Hall Name: Scott Hall Height: 6'7'' Weight: 280 Age: 49 Debut: October 1984 Accomplishments: 4 time WWF Intercontinental Champion, 2 time WCW U.S. Champion, 7 time WCW Tag Team Champion, WCW Television Champion, Winner of 1997 World War III battle royal, AWA Tag Team Champion, USWA Unified World Heavyweight Champion, WWC Universal Heavyweight Champion, PWI Tag Team of The Year winner (with Kevin Nash), PWI Most Improved Wrestler (1992) Background: Trained by the legendary Hiro Matsuda, Hall made his debut in 1984 for Championship Wrestling in Florida. Hall first came into the national spotlight in 1986 in The AWA, teaming with Curt Hennig and eventually winning the AWA Tag Team titles. Hall left the dying AWA for the somewhat greener pastures of The NWA but his stint there was short-lived. Following a time touring the independent circuit in Florida and Puerto Rico, Hall returned to WCW as The Diamond Stud. Despite an initial push, The Diamond Stud's run was short lived. Just as it appeared Hall's career had fizzled, he joined the WWF in August 1992 as Razor Ramon, a Cuban-American tough guy, modeled after Tony Montana. Ramon became one of the most notable faces of The WWF's New Generation. In 1996, after the much ballyhooed MSG incident, he left the WWF for WCW with his good friend, Kevin Nash. There Hall attained equal if not greater success than he had in the WWF. Most notably, Hall along with Nash launched a hostile takeover of WCW that would lead to the creation of the mega popular nWo. However, Hall's problems with alcohol (which first surfaced in the last part of his run in the WWF) began to overshadow his ringwork. Hall was released from WCW in '00. After short stints in ECW and NJPW, Hall rejoined the WWF as part of an nWo revival alongside Kevin Nash and Hollywood Hogan. Again, Hall's personal problems overshadowed his wrestling and he was released by the WWF. In the six years since his last run in the WWF, Hall's had short, turbulent stints in TNA and WWC (where he returned to The Razor Ramon moniker). Points For Discussion: How much do you think his personal problems have affected his career? Do you think Hall was ever main event material? What effect has his membership in The Kliq had on his career and his legacy? What were some of Hall's best matches? Some of the most memorable angles he was involved in? What was his better run; in WCW with the nWo or in WWF as Razor Ramon? Providing that he's sober, do you think Hall could still serve a purpose for WWE or TNA, be it in a wrestling or non-wrestling capacity? Do you think Hall has had a lasting impact on the business?
