  5. Steamboat was in from March to August of 1991. He left over a dispute with McMahon. They wanted him to do two squash jobs for IRS and Undertaker at a tv taping, both times getting stretchered out. Steamboat refused, feeling that, not only was it disrespectful to treat someone of his stature like that on tv, but that doing the stretcher job twice in a row on tv would expose the business. He had no problem doing jobs at house shows, but Steamboat refused to go along with this. At the time, Steamboat had been told they were going to start a program, his first during this run, with Ted DiBiase, and they felt by refusing to do the stretcher jobs, he was screwing up their plans. Quite how that works out, I'm not sure, especially considering that if it was that important for IRS and Undertaker to stretcher someone out, they could have put anyone in that spot. In any event, Vince took exception to Steamboat's actions, and they parted ways. There was some legal action from Steamboat later on over the contract dispute that resulted, I believe. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So Steamboat refused to do ANY jobs on TV? Because I noticed that he had a nearly perfect record during his '91 WWF stint.
  6. I was reading the latest mailbag on the Observer site, and Meltzer says that the last regional promotion to make money was the USWA "when Jarrett was paying people nothing". What is the story behind this? Was Jarrett stiffing the wrestlers or were they just working for free?

So, is JWing/The Pit gone? The address takes you to a hosted-forum.com page saying that the board has been deleted.

    your god has arrived

I don't know, I've made some pretty bad threads in this folder that have received less than 5 replies. Like when I posted a painting which depicted Steve Perry as Robocop, or when I printed the lyrics to Aaron Carter's "That's How I Beat Shaq".

    The Real Roomies

No, he got banned. Apparently, with the board upgrade, banned members are listed as unregistered, rather than just putting them into the "banned" group. Which I don't like, because you can't go back and look through the banned posters' posts.

    Intrigued

I prefer tapping to vocalizing submission because it is more dramatic and has more visual impact. I have always preferred for big matches, particularly those which faces win, to end with a pinfall, because it makes for a more dramatic ending, especially when the referee hits the three-count. When a wrestler taps, at least there is more visual impact in seeing them frantically tapping the mat than there is in seeing the ref suddenly turn to the timekeeper and signal for the bell.

  14. Why do we even need a food folder? I like eating food, but I don't find much to be interesting in discussing it. If people want to talk about food, they should do it in GC, or whatever will become of that folder once the restructuring is complete.

"Heaven and Hell" by Black Sabbath

Firehouse does not rock hard. They're best known for power ballads and their up-tempo songs were quite lethargic. Not to mention their song "All She Wrote" totally rips of Ratt's "Round and Round".

    Ready for the Revolution?

From a financial standpoint, it was a positive, because creating a cartridge-based system is cheaper than a CD-based system. Cartridges are much more expensive to produce than CDs, but Nintendo charged $10-$30 more for their games than Sony did, so they made up for it. Also, the Nintendo game designers really didn't like load times, and to reduce that on a CD system would require Nintendo to add more RAM to the system, which would again increase the cost. However, it did alienate third party publishers, who went with Sony and cost Nintendo a lot of market share and their #1 position in the console wars. But had they gone with CDs, Nintendo would have had to take a loss, something they obviously didn't want to do. It's something that will be debated for a long time, and there is plenty of reason to support the belief that Nintendo shouldn't have used cartridges, but I'm tired of seeing written everywhere like it's a fact that Nintendo chose cartridges when there was no reason not to go with CDs.

    Ready for the Revolution?

Good point. Regardless of what anyone says, Nintendo made a hell of a lot of money from their Nintendo 64, proud owner of one myself. More money, from what I've read, than Sony made from Playstation, which isn't hard to believe when youi consider the losses Sony must have taken in the beginning.
