Did I miss when it became internet canon that the Sonic Adventure games were horrible? You know, IGN and Gamespot gave those games great scores when they first game out. But now there's supposedly never been a good 3D Sonic. IGN gave this game a 6.9. Another winner from Sega!

TSMPedia got a number of updates. Marv!n!saLunat!c posted some more HDTV crap. Banky changed his name to Dr. Rosenpenis. Some gent called "The Shooter" can't handle all the sex he's getting from his girl. That's about it.

Well, there's definitely enough "animated violence" in it, I guess. Slightly off topic, but dealing with beat-em-ups: This arcade somewhat near me had an awesome brawler game for a while, but it was a long time ago and I can't remember the name. Basically it was a 2D side scroller where you could have up to four people playing, and the thing that was unique was there were a ton of weapons you could pick up and use (chains, 2x4s, pipes, etc). One of the guys you could play as resembled Hulk Hogan. Anyone have any clue what I'm talking about? Sounds like Vendetta (AKA Crime Fighters 2).

WWE has been talking about going into the MMA business since the Liddell-Ortiz fight beat every WWE PPV ever in North America. Dave suspects that RVD jobbed to Holly last week because he gave his notice, so as to prevent his contract from rolling over, but he's not sure. Dave reports that ECW on March 27th will be up against an episode of Dirt where Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox kiss. I don't know why he reported that, but he did. Daniel Rodimer was originally supposed to be on the main roster by now, but he hasn't been brought up yet. He recently did a job on Heat for Eugene, which isn't exactly good for him. 2/12: Roddy Piper is doing an MTV movie now that he is done with his radiation therapy. WWE wants to sign Mistico, Shocker, and Perro Aguayo Jr. to get more Hispanic fans. Dusty Rhodes is a big Shocker fan because he booked Shocker in TNA. Also, Shocker speaks English so that's another point for him. WWE thinks they will be able to sign Shocker. Mistico could probably make more money in WWE than in Mexico. The travel is worse in WWE but you don't have to work as much. Aguayo is really short and very fast which won't exactly endear him to those in power at WWE. RVD gave his notice so that his contract wouldn't roll over. His downside is $250K, but Dave thinks he's probably making around half a million. He could go to All Japan but they don't run as many shows as they used to. On the indies he could probably make around $2500 per show at first but that number would go down after a few months. In TNA he would be a big star but it's doubtful he'd be able to make the money he's making in WWE because TNA has been cutting back a lot lately financially. Afa and Sika will probably be inducted into the HOF this year. At least, they were asked. There's no reason for them to say no, now is there? Following concerns from Ross and Brisco about WWE not recruiting good enough athletes lately, John Laurinaitis has hired a dude named James Tyler Bailey to recruit college wrestlers and football players. Vito's "cross-dresser" gimmick is done. He's going to Deep South and will be getting a new gimmick. Super Crazy is getting something of a push lately because Brian Gerwitz saw Nacho Libre and thought that Crazy would fit well into the "wacky fat Mexican" role. Nitro jobbed to Crazy because he has heat over his relationship with Melina. She's not well-liked apparently. It sure would be nice to be in a position to punish people because you don't like their significant other, wouldn't it? Reason #67489903 to respect the business. WWE has considered inducting Bruno into the HOF, but as always, he's totally not up for that. The World Class DVD is in the works and the history of that era is getting WWE-ized. Bookers Ken Mantell and Gary Hart won't get the credit they deserve. Michael Hayes, who coincidentally works for WWE now, is going to be portrayed as "the architect of the boom period". NOTE: Usually when I (or anyone else) post these, I get a lot of posts which merely say "Thanks for this". And while I appreciate that, I would really like if everyone could comment on some bit of info in this post. I post these to facilitate discussion, you know.

Alex Kidd in Miracle World is great. In fact, I just beat it a couple of hours ago. It ends with a freakin' puzzle rather than a boss fight, though. That's wacky. A lot of those other games suck. The SMS port of Altered Beast would qualify as one of the worst things ever if the NES version wasn't somehow worse.

The old ECW had 21 PPVs.

I'll say it, I don't like Joy Division. It's all so glum and boring. I know they are highly regarded in THE SCENE because they are INFLUENTIAL, but I don't currrrrrrrr 'bout that. I do like "Dead Souls" though. "Love Will Tear Us Apart" is good, but it's talked about like it's some sort of pop classic, and I'm just not hearing it. Oh man, New Order. "True Faith"! "Bizarre Love Triangle"! "Regret"! "1963"! These are some fucking great songs. That's all I have to say. At their best, this band was absolutely brilliant. And not boring and depressing! Too bad they suck now. But lots of bands suck now. Those bands that suck didn't write "Regret"! Every time I bring this up to my scenester friends they're all like "WHAT BLAH BLAH JOY DIVISION IS MORE INFLUENTIAL INFLUENCE INFLUENCE IAN CURTIS WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA". And now Sensei John Kreese is bringing this unpopular opinion to TheSmartMarks. I want to know if any of you agree with me because I've never encountered anyone in real life who does.

The way Dave worded it was something like "Between All Japan, TNA and indies he could make a good living" so I guess that means he could work all three.
