Who watches a show just to see skits? The ratings went up because of the beginning of the WWF/WCW feud. The Invasion PPV also did well because of the early buzz surrounding the feud and possibly because of the Austin face turn tease they did the week before. (At least, I assume that's the reason because Invasion had a freakin' terrible lineup. But I'm sure 600,000 people didn't spend $30 just because of some comedy skits.)

Yep, June 31. Nobody could ever forget June 31!!

I'm sure he's preparing the "it's still real to me dammit" reference as we speak.

I think it's one of those things where if you hotlink the image, they turn it into something gross.

That's strange, because I'm pretty sure by that time Pillman had signed with WWF. Actually, I know that night they aired a WWF Superstar Line ad teasing info on Pillman coming to WWF. By that weekend's shows they announced that he had signed. Of course, since it was WCW, the people doing the video editing probably didn't even know he was gone.

I'm sad to report that Billy is dead.

I thought that name was really funny until I found out that Matt Young was behind it.

It occurs to me that the Wii sales figures aren't as impressive as some are making them out to be, at least in the US. Gamecube sold 709,000 in November of 2001. (In Japan, it sold 182,000 the first week, so Wii beat that easily.) I guess Wii probably has a better future because there's a lot more buzz on it, but I don't think we should be declaring victory for Nintendo just yet.

TNA was sick of him too. Sabu is back to random once a month indy shows with money marks. If Sabu got released by WWE, TNA would be dumb not to take him back. He's gotten so over on WWE TV in the last few months that he could actually mean something for TNA this time.

I know nothing of the movie, but I can't really expect much from a Van Wilder sequel that doesn't actually have Van Wilder in it. That would seem to be lacking a major ingredient.

So is it going to be this constant "get your ticket and wait in line behind 50 people" shit for the rest of the year? I asked my mom to get me a Wii for Christmas but she refuses to believe that she'll be able to get one.

I just noticed that Wii comes out today in Japan. It will be interesting to see how this one does over there. I think there's a misconception that Nintendo is more popular in Japan than in North America, while the truth is that Gamecube sold three times more here than it did in Japan.

Blame Reggie. He wants to hold off on the big VC games so that he can release them in months when there's no big Wii game coming out.

They go to parties, they drink beer, they try to get laid, and they're loud and obnoxious all the time. And they call each other "bro". Let's share our feelings on this wonderful subculture, a vital part of college life!

Well the rambling tirades are definitely true. Remember when he made that comment about how RPG players are depressed people who play games in the dark or whatever the fuck he said? Would Reggie or Iwata have the balls to say that? No. Too bad his craziness stopped being good for business around the mid 90's.

Does Carnival really work at Chuck E. Cheese? That's pretty awesome.

He hosts New Millennium Blues now too.

I really don't understand how it's that hard to recoup a $13 million investment on an album that's probably going to sell at least a couple of million. I guess you would also have to spend a couple of million on videos, but I wonder how effective the music video even is as a promotional tool since MTV barely plays them anymore. Obviously money will be spent on promotion but as the industry becomes less reliant on traditional forms of marketing it will be much less expensive than it would have been in years past given all the online venues they can use to promote the album (i.e. MySpace, Youtube, etc.) Licensing some of the tracks to advertisers can also offset the cost. (One must assume that if Axl is willing to license "Better" to Harley-Davidson he's not terribly selective about advertising partners.) Considering a wholesale price of around $10 it could easily make money. I find it doubtful that Chinese Democracy will be some sort of massive hit but I do think it will sell well.

We should be the ones asking you if there's something wrong with 30. Why mess with success, Michael.

The hearse match that JBL and 'Taker had at No Mercy 2004. I predict Cena as Batista's partner.

You'll never be done with them! And staying off the GNR message boards is something you should be doing now. I can feel my IQ dropping every time I read MyGNRForum.
