They're completely different games. And the "original" was Ghosts n' Goblins, sequel was Ghouls n' Ghosts, and Super was an SNES exclusive 3rd entry in the series. http://gngseries.retrogames.com/ <-- gives you a look at the series' different levels. It's arguable whether or not to count the Maximo games, but the PSP version is supposed to be a totally original entry, but returns to the series' roots with the gameplay.

    500,000 march in LA

"Why is the US damn near the only country on the planet that doesn't really mandate learning other languages in primary school? Most Europeans can get by in a few different tongues." They're likely to actually use it. We aren't. I was required to have two semesters of a foreign language in high school, and I took another in college (French than Spanish). Most other high schools I know of require it as well. However, it's sole usefulness was familarizing me with more latin roots, which helped me with some trivia games. That's it. I only knew of two fluent Spanish-speaking students in my school, and they happened to speak perfect english anyway. Of course, PA is a different animal than Texas/California/etc. However, most of the country speaks some form of English, and anything they pick up of a foreign language is typically forgotten from lack of use in a hurry.

    Fight Over Superboy Copyright

He's usually been considered Superboy until partway through college, when he then embraces the Superman name.

JLU Season 3 starts September 17th

Doesn't the Superboy legal muck kind of put that whole concept into major doubt (see comic book folder)? Sure, DCAU Clark Kent was never Superboy and had just become Superman when he moved to Metropolis, but that very fact and the villain embargo somewhat limits what they can do with it. The Legion one is more intriguing from a creative standpoint--although they have done a futuristic-style world already with Beyond. They'd tried to make all the DCAU stuff fit together (Murakami junk aside), and this would just ruin it.

    Thinking about buying an iPod

Nanos and Shuffles are both flash-based, unlike every other iPod, which are hard-drive based. Don't rapidly skip through tracks, either. The cache on harddrive based models can only hold about 23 minutes of music at a time. Rapidly skipping tracks can cause hard drive spin-up and kill it sooner. If you have a Nano, do not charge it while it is in a casing. That seems to be the reason that the screens are blowing out--it's overheating. Apple will replace nanos that have the screens blow out (when the screens have dark black markings under the screen and are unusable), for the time being at least.

Renegade and I would say that's a resounding "no." However, there's plenty of people who would disagree with us. You're going to be hack hack hack hacking away with the chain/blades for a hell of a long time, though.

    Thinking about buying an iPod

That's not bad for a new model, although you can get refurbs from the online apple store (under the Special Deals section in apple.com/store), and you can find stuff like a 20 gig for $170, and it comes with a 1 year warranty. I did tech for iPods for a few months, and that replacement seemed to be total luck. Out of Warranty means out of warranty, and without an APP Apple typically won't do anything unless it's simply a battery replacement. "surely someone knows of a good way to get scratches out. Tomb Raider Legend preview

Preview: http://tarnishedlegend.1up.com/do/previewP...d=3140921&did=1 Trailer: http://tarnishedlegend.1up.com/do/download?cId=3139416 Series retrospective/preview: http://tarnishedlegend.1up.com/do/feature?cId=3141388 As some one who groaned at news of the latest Tomb Raider games for years, I'm surprised that I'm interested in this one. It actually looks like it will be good, with an completely overhauled game engine, the original creator on board, and a commitment to quality from the new company. Hopefully the puzzles won't be as arcane and frustrating as in the original Tomb Raider.

    WCW Games

Disco wasn't in WCW vs. the World. There was a knockoff of Shamrock called Sherlock though. Full roster is on Gamefaqs, along with the true identities (click on Information Guide). http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/psx/game/199287.html

It looks like Diehard Gamefan magazine is back...in spirit. I found an odd mag called Hardcore Gamer Magazine. One of the editors, Alicia Ashby, is a friend of a friend, and Jeremy Peeples (often-time GameFAQs contributor) also takes part. The cover art looked darn familiar. Terry Wolfinger is the art director. I'm not sure if any of the old staff is back (definitely no E. Storm or Nick Rox), but real names plus wacky avatars are featured, including a Monitaur on steroids. The layouts are very GF-ish, and it covers some weird-ass imports...and has a cosplay section.

I'm at 44%. It may not be a particularly long game, but it's a total blast regardless.

    WCW Games

WCW vs. the World was "based" on Virtual Pro Wrestling. Actually, it was about the only time Asmik/THQ converted over one of the Japanese games. For Virtual Pro Wrestling 64 and Virtual Pro Wrestling 2, the US games came first, and the Japanese games were enhanced versions. VPW64 was an enhanced WCW vs. nWo. VPW2 was based on the engine for Wrestlemania 2000, but was a vastly different game. Giant has a huge fro in WCW vs. the World because...he's really supposed to be Andre.

...and I thought this was going to be dull. At first I had a few dumb guys I got in the back with ease, but now I'm running into firefights with a dozen guys wielding assault rifles, sniper rifles, and grenades. Lara has some Matrix-y style moves, as well as her old backflip, side-jumps, as well as a few (mostly useless) melee attacks. Fortunately, you can use the assault rifle (I think you can get the sniper, but usually they're up too high for me to try to collect it). Ammo is limited for those, but you have unlimited ammo for your standard handguns. I had a high speed bike chase where I was shooting enemies and avoiding obstacles to catch up with a truck (which launched crates at me). Now I'm in a playable flashback sequence.

    Tomb Raider Legend preview

Well, I got it. Here's my first impressions. The full title (according to the box and start up screens) is "Lara Croft Tomb Raider Legend." Kind of clunky. Mediocre intro, featuring models of Lara that look halfway between the previous version and the revamp. Gamestart...flashback sequence.... Okay, into the game. We see Lara jumping from cliffside to cliffside--slick animation, gorgeous scenery (waterfalls, mist below). Graphics look great for PS2. The jumping/climbing controls aren't too different from the 3D POPs. Here you hold the analog stick to swing around a bar (unlike holding a button in PoP). When you jump for a ledge/rope/handhold, one press of X grabs. You have to press it again after grabbing to climb the ledge (instead of just holding up to climb on it) Unlike PoP, you can grab with one hand (but you'll need to then grab it with the second using a button tap), and also jump, while hanging, over to another handhold along the same wall (which you couldn't do without wall running in PoP, which seemed a bit silly). Maybe it's just me still dialing in the controls, but grabbing a rope from a jump seems a tad tricky. You can center the camera with L2, but you have to be lined up just right or you may miss it. It seems pickier than PoP. You use the d-pad to switch between gadgets, such as the flashlight ("personal light source" rather, which acts like one). You have a grapple hook you can use to snag certain grapple-points (think like Metroid Prime). Combat is okay. Not perfect, but okay. Overall, it has met my expectations as far as the basic gameplay/controls. It's going to be hard to compete with excitement of the PoPs, but I'm still very early into the game.
