    Virtual Console

If the emulation on it is actually good, unlike the PS2 version. Otherwise it's a waste of 20 bucks (or, knowing the way Wii games are often priced, likely $30). Shock Troopers is just sad.

    Wii

I'm excited about Mad World since it seems to be in the No More Heroes/God Hand vein, and it's freakin' Clover reborn making it. I thought Umbrella Chronicles was okay--I rented it and played with wiichuck, FWIW, but didn't really feel the need to buy it. It's really long for a rail shooter, but I felt Ghost Squad was a better rail shooter (which, I'd say throw onto the list if you like the genre, but it's super short).

The plan, last I heard, was to do both...

    Virtual Console

The SNK Arcade Collection has a lot of the SNK virtual console releases, but Shock Troopers doesn't run full speed. I'm looking forward to it's inevitable VC release, hoping it runs better (as we've seen the emulation on VC generally be top notch, even when other recent ports weren't). EDIT: It seems a lot of the games on the collection suffer some form of slowdown. Don't buy it. Of course, it's coming out for Wii too eventually, so maybe that will be the best deal.

The N64 games seem to be the obvious big culprits there.

My iPod holds much less than supposed to..

It would be partially the iPod software and partially the formatted capacity vs. advertised capacity. Advertised capacity is 1GB = 1 billion bytes. Formatted capacity (what your computer reads) is 1GB = 1.07 billion bytes. To see how much space you should have on a completely blank disk, divide advertised capacity by 1.07. So your iPod disk, sans software, would generally be about 7.47 GB

I don't typically see breakdowns of the sales by SKU, but I know that MS had basically caught up with all their shortages from the beginning of the year/

    Xbox 360

The Premium has traditionally been the best seller, so why would they get rid of it? Plus, it's the one that has the hard drive. Arcade only has a memory card.
  11. Some things you may not know about Crisis Core: -The game is headed by a first-time director, yet has incredible polish and production values. -The script/localization is really good. It's often downright funny, too. Sephiroth, Genesis, and Angeal fangirls openly bicker over their favorite SOLDIER 1st Class dudes! -The gameplay does an excellent job of balancing "action" and "RPG" in its battles. It's in real-time but mashing won't get you far except against really weak enemies. Think of FFXII with timing bars thrown out, and a faster pace. -The lead character is interesting, well-defined and likable, despite some level of similarity to someone else (Cloud). -The DMW wheel is, well, kind of hard to explain. It's not really random. You do earn real EXP, and it just *looks* random when you level up / materia levels up. Basically, the tougher enemies you fight, the more likely you/materia levels up. -You can actually go over your HP/MP/AP limit, when you get a "Power Surge" you may gain more than your actual capacity. When you use/lose it you can't directly renew it past your limit, but it can give you a great advantage when you take on a really tough mission, but *play well* enough that you can survive anyway. -Of course, if you liked anything about FFVII, you should get this. However, even if you hate it with every fiber of your being, it's still a fine game anyway.

Guess whose time bomb went off last night? It's my optical drive. It went from playing games one moment to not playing any DVDs or CDs the next. So basically it's the same old Sony-ish DRE for everything. Ugh. Ironically, this isn't from playing it a lot, but rather appeared after not playing it for about 3 weeks. WTF.

I got TWO Wii Perfect Shots. EBStop may have them behind the counter at your place, for some unfathomable reason. I think they're expected to try to boost the Wii Zapper over it (although that doesn't explain the Blaster always being around). I'll probably try to see if I can find a used Link's Crossbow Training somewhere, because, you know...

Precendent-wise, I think there's only...uh, LocoRoco. That's first-party anyway. Your best bet is to hope for a PS2 port (which is much more likely).

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII: The Thread

I don't know too much myself, other than it seems that running arcade games is complicated and it doesn't seem the current MAME for PSP runs on more current firmware. From what I've seen, there isn't much point updating firmware much unless some major new features are integrated, but unfortunately we know how newer games try to force updates, so a legit one isn't a bad idea. That seems pretty pricey for a bundle. What does it include? I got everything separately and I know it cost less than that--granted, my PSP isn't new, though.

Plus having a PSP is like having a Nomad, Game Gear as well as portable versions of systems that didn't have portable versions... Smues: 2 PSPs as in one haxxored, one 2 legit 2 quit?

I mean, if you own two portable systems. I have more than that, actually. GBA SP and NGPC!!! It's trickier if the room isn't all square, though.

Apparently I suck at stirring. I have no idea how that is supposed to work. It's easier to hack up cannon fodder ninjas anyway. Endless Ocean does indeed have some mission objectives, but the main point of it is exploring and observing. I've heard it referred to as an ocean-based Pilotwings, too. Nothing is trying to kill you; you're just meant to relax and discover.

Nintendo Channel is live now. Best part--downloading DS demos, FINALLY!!! Playing the demo for Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword, it's really good. Other demos are Flash Focus, Brain Age 2, Crosswords ds...zzzzz... Er, Jam Sessions, Rayman Raving Rabbids, Cooking Mama 2 and Disney Friends. You have to opt in to the anonymous data collection, though.
